Daredevil = Underrated

Well, be sure to not watch it then...that way you can continue to live with preconcieved ideas instead of finding out for yourself if it's true or not.
I didn't say whether it was or wasn't, just that I didn't like the theatrical cut.

I was referring to this part of your post after mentioning the DC....

I don't get the love some people have for it.

I honestly believe its one of the best Marvel films ever made. The film is so underrated, its not even funny. I have no idea why people are bashing it (after seeing the Director's Cut). It does not deserve to be on all those lists of worst comic book films. Electra was BARELY decent, but this is nothing like Electra. It's dark, gritty, and emotionally gripping with all the death scenes. Daredevil was cool, Electra was hot, & Bullseye and Kingpin were both badass. The plot was very strong too. They really should have made a sequel to this. I mean, if this movie was successful enough for a spinoff, why couldn't they make Daredevil 2 instead?

Daredevil is a fantastic film. Unfortunately, there's too many Ben Affleck haters out there.

I really hope Fox's diabolic plan to try to reboot Daredevil will not come into fruitation, because the last thing we need is more terrible superhero movies from Fox. Same goes to Fantastic Four.

I think after Gone Baby Gone and The Town, Ben Affleck has clearly established himself as a better director than Mark Steven Johnson, who directed Daredevil (and Ghost Rider). I doubt Affleck would want to go back to Daredevil though, even though he's a fan of the comic character.

I meant the theatrical. Sorry for the confusion.

I never cared much for Elektra in general but thought that she was fine in this movie.

And some of the fight scenes were actually great like the Bullseye vs Elektra (straight from comics FTW) and Kingpin vs Daredevil. The Directors Cut is what makes those versions so awesome.

The DC actually really helps the movie out a lot. It removes some of the 'love' scenes and adds more story in regards to how they caught Kingpin in the end, why the cops were already on their way. It also has some more action, which I really appreciate in his fight with Kingpin since in the theatrical cut you could tell some of the edits felt off like something was missing in between blows.

If you really hated the theatrical I can't say you'll like the DC but it's definetly up there as one of the best DCs that vastly improved the film. Now if only they had removed the playground fight.

I have absolutely no problem with the playground scene, it set up Matt Murdock and Elektra perfectly.

That fight started for no reason whatsoever and looked painfully coreographed.

Top that off with the scenario of a blind guy leaping, and crawling through playground obstacles while fending off some martial artist without raising any suspicion from spectators in broad day light.

Definitely a low point in the movie.

Daredevil did some things very right, and other things were kind of meh. It definitely gets undeserved hate (as does everything on here, it seems), but it's not perfect.

The "spectators" were all five years old.

the playground scene was pretty damn horrible for Daredevil

The script had such major potential... seriously it had some of the best issues of Daredevil all rolled in but they really cluster ****ed it...

I bought the director's cut dvd and the storyline with Coolio is not that bad at all. at least we get another look at Matt Murdock.
Its pretty obvious that its not the best superhero movie out there but sure its not the worst one

I need to check out the DC. I liked the theatrical cut, and I've re-watched it 4 or 5 times, but never the DC. Maybe tomorrow...

Still, I agree: People seem to hate that movie A LOT and with no good reason. I understand that something may not be as it is in the comics, but as a movie, it works pretty fine: It is entertaining, has a very good cast and it possesses a certain amount of rewatchabilily [sic].

I like the DD movie (minus the cheesy playground fight scene).
I must admit that I can't look at the theatrical version since I saw the DC, which is so much better. Why the DC wasn't the version seen in theater is beyond me.

The movie received some unfair blame. The main reason for people hating it was Ben Affleck. Of course, he isn't RDJ or Christian Bale, but I was pleasantly surprised at how seriously he took the role. He was a very decent Matt Murdock (a less charismatic DD).
Having been released after SM2, which was excellent, didn't help it too. Had the movie been released before, it would have been much better received.

Elektra, on the other hand, was a pointless and wasted movie. So sad that Fox linked the DD future to that crappy movie. (a merciless and tormented killer woman adapted in a movie for all the family, how can it work seriously ?) And what is beyond me is that it took five year, after FOX received a major cinematographic lesson by Nolan with Batman Begins, to simply hire a writer. They have seen BB, have seen a lot of lawyer shows on tv, and they still don't know in what direction taking the franchise.

Please, Fox, sell your right back to Marvel, take the money and stop ####ing the DD fans.

I enjoyed the DD film. It was a good movie. I would however like Marvel to get the DD rights back so that they can give their Marvel Knights thing another try. Get DD, Punisher and Moon Knight to all exist in the same environment and to cross paths from time to time. That'd be cool. That said, I still liked the DD film we got.

That's one thing that was missing from the theatrical cut. We didn't get to see Matt Murdock as a lawyer much as we should have. There was the court case at the beginning, but they didn't go too much further with it like they did in the director's cut.

I agree with the OP. Daredevil was a really good super hero movie. Maybe not up there with the very best which I tag as Great. But very good.

Just reading back on this, Im absolutely a Daredevil supporter. Its one of my favorite super-hero movies. Im so glad to see so much support for it. Its not as bad as IGN makes it out to be.

Its one reason I was so excited for ghost rider despite all the early hate because MSJ was directing it. But Ghost Rider was a disappointment for me. Daredevil is absolutely Foxs best Superhero movie right behind X2 and X1. Not to mention it had a pretty killer Soundtrack and Score.

I also think Punisher 04 gets too much hate. Though I know a ton of people who really like it.

Like "Bruce_Wayne29": I agree with all your points. I love DD and I think it gets way too much criticism. It's very underrated

Directors Cut is much better
