After the announcement of the new series, Jim McCann said he would share an image he expected to cause a lot of stir -- an image by Alex Maleev that included The Hood and the evil female Loki. "I'm not going to say what it is, but it kind of looks like an evil Illuminati," Bendis said.

The writer said the image teases a special one-shot that's coming out by Bendis and Maleev in first quarter 2009, "in very much the same format as the original Illuminati special where we introduced the Illuminati."

"And there's an eclipse behind them. That's weird," he added.

Looks like White Queen, Loki, Hood, Namor Doom and Osborne

With all of the involvement Doom has had with Marvel villains recently (giving Namor refuge in Latveria, selling a time machine to the Red Skull, helping Loki free the bad Asgardians), I suspected Marvel was building to a future event with Doom at the forefront. This looks like it.

Hm,
why those heroes? esp. Namor? is he playing Double Agent?

Namor has always been a Neutral type of Character. I guess the last Series he was in he'd made an Allianance with Doom, as did Loki as mentioned in Thor #5.

And i hope that this time the Fantastic Four are at the forefront in opposing him...

It seems like lately, everyone BUT the FF are taking on FF rogues...

Yes, Millar said that he is going to have the man who trained doom arrive!

Well I'm not too sure of IM villians except for alongtime ago in the 80's, Stane was bald then, and I only restarted collecting IM again.
Loki on the other hand is the only odd ball if you choose the Parallel idea. No Asgardian has been in the Illuminati.

idk I kinda wished they used mandarin instead. Also instead of Namor have one of the villains like Kang then have mamximus and doom

That was Obidiah Stane. He's dead. Ezekiel is his son.

Loki is magic. Dr. Strange is magic. I think that's supposed to be the parallel.

Why not use Baron Mordo or Dormammu

I don't know. Why not use Loki? He works just as well. Sure, he's not a usual enemy of Strange, but I think Loki and Doom working together makes a lot more sense than Doom and Mordo or Doom and Dormamu, as those two generally have much more specific gaols, whereas Loki simply enjoys causing trouble.

AH ok didn't know The Original Stane was dead.
I can see the Loki/Strange parallel.

Then how do you explain Emma being there? There's been nothing really hinting at her turning back to her bad side, and from the X-badge on her cape, it is still definitely her current counterpart, so this is the one confusing part about the whole thing.

My thought is that it is not actually maybe a group of evil doers looking to take down hereoes, but maybe an Illuminati who would take things a bit further than the heroic group would. I know Namor has always gone on about some of the other heroes not having what it takes to go far enough to eliminate threats thoroughly enough, so maybe he had a hand in putting together a group of people who would no qualms about killing or other such methods that some of the others wouldn't want to take.

That's what I was thinking. With the exception of The Hood, who'd probably just roll with them for power, this evil Illuminati seems to be comprised of individuals who've, in the past, shown both altruistic goals and very questionable means. Even Loki, who in ancient times often played the role of the trickster hero and friend of humanity. That was all just drowned out and forgotten by his growing quest for revenge against the gods. I could see modern Marvel Loki getting a kick out of helping Doom save the world, especially through clever and underhanded means, as long as he got the pleasure of burning Asgard to the ground as well.

Well something happens to Loki during Thor/SI, Having to do with Loki Trying to make a deal with the Skrull Gods, not sure badly it turns out since that 4 issue mini isn't due out for another month.

I thought the guy in the middle wa the Purple-Man myself. And I hope Emma turns bad to get her out of the X-Men. I still hate her and Scott together. Even after all these years.

Bendis writes Namor very well, but it's pretty offset by his perennially horrible depiction of Doom. And I actually don't care that much about Emma since Whedon isn't writing her anymore and no other writer has been able to make her anything but an irritating b****.

No strong opinions about this...yet.

What was so "horrible" about his depiction of Doom? I thought Bendis wrote him quite well in the recent Mighty Avengers arc.

Yeah, he doesn't have the Osborne "what the **** is on your head" hair.

So what's the story on Female Loki? Why the hell is Loki female? How long is he going to be this way? Why?

I'm surprised to see that Namor and Doom are in cahoots again.

Loki came back in female form and stayed that way because. His switching genders isn't unheard of. Hell, he turned into a female horse and got pregnant once.
