Dark/Evil Illuminati?

idk I kinda wished they used mandarin instead. Also instead of Namor have one of the villains like Kang then have mamximus and doom

Mandarin aka Marvel's Ras al Ghul is more of a solo guy who doesn't take orders from Doom (Marvel Ultimate Alliance anyone?) and Loki.

Could the guy in the center be maximus? or another inhumans villain/

What was so "horrible" about his depiction of Doom? I thought Bendis wrote him quite well in the recent Mighty Avengers arc.
I didn't really like the rendition of Doom desperately scrambling about in a panic ("No! NO! NO!!!" etc) at the mere sight of Avengers in his home. Even if they had taken him completely by surprise, even if this was something not even his contingencies had prepared him for, I think he would remain calm and levelheaded and then work from there. This is after all supposed to be the same Doom who, after having been dragged to hell by demons with a malfunctioning armor and no weapons of any kind, took rational stock of the situation and then prepared to make a final head-busting stand instead of mucking futilely about.

And then there was this.

Could be! Although he was introduced fairly recently. I feel like the dark Illuminati will be something that has been around for years just like the light illuminati ya know? I have a feeling that we will see a lot of evil plans that the evils came up with.

I'm not so sure about that. It seems like the Dark Illuminati is built off of Doom's recent partnerships with Loki and Namor. Plus, Stane's nature (described by creature Matt Fraction as a futurist and an "open source ideological terrorist") would fit well with the Dark Illuminati if they are trying to save mankind using methods more befitting a manipulative dictator and a trickster god.

I thought what Doom said to Ms. Marvel was the most horribily meanest thinfg I have ever heard. It was awesome. I was like, "Oh my ****ing god, what the hell?"

Also, the only thing there that throws me off is Emma. I like Emma. Not evil Emma.

It was too over the top, though. Doom has more class than that. He may have a taste for theatrics, but he's still fairly reserved when dealing with people one on one.

I just don't understand the need to turn Doom into a "something"-ist in order to make him mean and evil. He became a racist in Black Panther, and now here he's being a misogynist. I'm not gonna go around claiming "ZOMG THAT'S SO OUT OF CHARACTER HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT" or something but, all the same, it just reads so wrong. It's like something that the Julian McMahon movie version of Doom would say.

I don't think it's Stane because a recent cover shows him without hair.

I'm of mixed thought about this. Of course Bendis is going to play on his Illuminati retcon, but if it leads to Marvel's villains actually getting their **** together, then that is cool.

As always, his dilemma is in the execution, not the idea. He writes Dr. Doom terribly. While his Hood bits had promise, the idea of a lot of big league villains taking a D-List joker seriously can get a little absurd. Right now I am imagining Bendis writing Hood and Dr. Doom as equals, and that disturbs me.

Emma being there...ugh. Quite frankly, Cyclops is acting nastier than she has the past few months. I really hope she isn't about to be written out. She's way more interesting than boring Jean usually was.

Of course, if Cyclops went back to dating Coleen Wing, he could guest star in IMMORTAL IRON FIST sometimes and participate in the "blending" of the X-Verse into the rest of Marvel (like Colossus, briefly, being a Defender). It would give him something to do.

Female Loki being there was built up in JMS' THOR, so at least this has been fleshed a little.

Namor changes his alligences every other decade, and at least Bendis writes him well. Considering Zeke Stane is an arrogant, sometimes overly annoying psycho of a character who has a monster ego, Bendis should also write him well.

Now I'm thinking it's the Purple man.

Yeah, but still; a few panels constitutes "Horrible"? He seemed very conniving and arrogant throughout the rest of the arc, which to me is classic Doom.

Nah. He's completely lost it and come unraveled a bunch of times in one on one confrontations with Reed, Ben...even the Red Skull.

You've mistaken him with Poppa Stane, who's dead. The son of Stane has hair.

Not anymore. Cover to Invincible Iron Man 5:

^ Well hair can grow back so fast. :woot:

BTW who are those 3 stooges in the background supposed to be.

This is bendis so it's almost certianly purple man. The only thing that bothers me is I do not want loki written by bendis. This will not end well for me at all, especially after the hood beats her by shooting her in the uterus.

Other than the fact that Loki's still a woman, which irritates me a little more every time I see it, this looks fairly interesting. I'm curious about what turns Emma and Namor on the heroes, if indeed the "Evilluminati" is targeting heroes. They could be less evil than we suspect.

On the other hand, if they are evil, that means Loki will be "out" by then and not pretending to be good to everyone. That'll be a nice change. The doe-eyed innocent routine is wearing pretty thin, and it'll be good to have Balder not following Loki like a ****** anymore.

Wow, that's about the silliest post I've ever seen you write. That entire theory depends on Bendis actually coordinating and reading some that's not him.

If it is actually a counterpoint to the Illuminati then they wouldn't be targetting heroes as much as dealing with long term implications of events and such, and if it's in that view then the team makes sense (except for the hood and purple man) as none of them want the earth to be destroyed or taken over (by people not them). That could be cool, but I worry.
