:yay: Finally! At last, a 2:45 running time for a superhero movie. This had better set a standard for future super hero films. EPIC LENGTH, with a combination of taut action sequences and compelling dramatic narratives and character development, is absolutely the right path to take when creating these films. Comicbook films can be the modern Laurence of Arabias and Close Encounters, if taken seriously by the film producers and studio executives. The era of treating Batman like the 60s show is done. Let it alone. Don't bring it back!

Absolutely not. The normal running length for a superhero movie shouldn't be any different than the normal running length for any movie...which is around 2hrs. If you're going to make it longer, then you better make it special/unique and worth it. Otherwise, no genre deserves to standardize on a different average/normal length moreso than any other.

That could include credits and it is not confirmed yet .

Yeah a 3 hour Ant Man Movie could be tough .

absolutely yes :jedi

it should be as long as the story demands. no more ,no less. if it starts getting into the 3+ hour territory then make it a 2 parter.

How long does a movie have to run before it will lose 1 daily time slot in the theatre?

A new era of long length filming has Begun! TDKR will generate new IMAX possibilities, hyping and ascending superhero genre and making Batman's legend even more epic then before and embarking on the highest level of cinema perfection. 2 hours and 45 mins is good enough for me, 15 mins longer then TDK and it's gonna be just mindblowing seeing this Phenomena of movie in IMAX the way it was meant to be. :) Nolan has done the impossible and made it possible!

We'll see. A film needs to be however long it needs to be. Pushing it to nearly three hours isn't necessarily an indication of "epicness". It could just be bloated. I've also seen lengthy films that almost could have been longer, who knows.

I'm cool with this.

That whole rumor awhile back about it possibly being just over 2 hours really pissed me off, lol. This is great news!

Goodfellas and Dances With Wolves were both substantially longer than 2hrs and came out in the same year. If they didn't 'make that the 'norm', why would this film do that?

They haven't changed a standard with this movie...they just made a longer movie than most. the success of the franchise and the filmmakers involved has afforded them that extra courtesy, but it has not sent a message to other films to follow suit as normal procedure.

It's nice that Nolan has the pull to get a movie of this length out, I agree, but it is a generally special case, and films of ant genre aren't being held back by the 2hr length or what have you.

Ant man could quite emotional if done right.....

But anyway this is great news, Nolan is fairly good with the pace of his films and this will likely follow the pattern :D

BB: 141 minutes
TDK: 153 minutes
TDKR: 165 minutes

TDK 12 minutes longer than BB.
TDKR 12 minutes longer than TDK.

Honestly I don't know about this running time, I mean I think TDK has pacing problems.

It had pacing problems but there were very few scenes you could take out

The theatre in my city has incredibly uncomfortable seats, so... I don't necessarily look forward to that aspect of this particular experience. But, hopefully it will be worth the discomfort. I expect it will be. Still, probably best that I bring some Motrin, just in case.

You could probably have taken the character of Lau out entirely and skipped the whole unnecessary trip to hong kong, which only really established the basis for his sonar vision later on.
