The Dark Knight Rises Dark Knight Running Time almost 3 hours

Love the runtime. Anyone disappointed in that runtime? anyone? I know some people were hellbent on the 3 hour thing, i don't think those wishes will quiet down thanks to the rumours of a 3 hour Avengers cut.

People haven't seen the movie yet. I just love how fanboys think they know a movie like this should be three hours based on not even ten minutes of footage that they've seen. 165 minutes is RARE for a blockbuster film to be that long. That seems long enough. There is a thing called pacing and momentum of a film depending on the story. Whatever Nolan cut, hopefully everything is there for a good reason and makes the film move at a good pace. 153 minutes flew by for TDK. Maybe it will here too.

Guys,

When I was buying my tickets at my local Cineplex (Coliseum Mississauga, for those of you in the GTA), the manager who works there, who happens to be a buddy of mine, confirmed that the 2 hour and 45 minute running time is official. It came straight from WB in the information they sent out for event planning purposes prior to distribution.

Additionally, a quick search online shows that every major theater chain is now reporting 165 minutes. BFI, AMC, Cineplex, Allocine... It doesn't get any more official...

...Unless, of course, you go straight to the official TDKR Imax website: http://www.imax.com/movies/m/the-dark-knight-rises-the-imax-experience/
Why hasn't WB officially confirmed this yet? Nolan still working on editing?

Exactly. 165 minutes is a long movie either way you look at it. If you can't tell a story with 2 hours and 45 minutes there's a problem. It's plenty of time.

They have confirmed it. The Imax website I linked to is an official source.
I hate to be a stickler, but has the WB themselves announced the running time? I know all these other sites have that time.

2:45 is about the limit for how long the movie should be IMO.

For the most part I think less is more when it comes to a movie's running time/pacing, and usually prefer runtimes to be significantly shorter than 2:45, but I think Nolan is trying to go with a epic scope on a movie with a large cast, and those require some more time.

At the mtv movie awards, Nolan did say that it wasn't quite finished yet.

I don't think he was talking about the editing, mostly various FX. The running time's locked. 165. And it's a good runtime.

Since Imax is actually involved in the creation and distribution of the film, they should be considered a first party source. The information they provide for a film they're directly involved in should be treated as official. Studios, on the other hand, don't typically post running times, so it's doubtful WB will every directly confirm it until they print it on the Bluray disc. Only place it may go up is on that PR site, but I'm not press so I can't check.
