Not bad choices at all, although Hopkins is still involved with Thor as Odin, so casting him would probably be redundant.

That's... actually very good.

He was pretty darn scary in Event Horizon, but more importantly Neill proved he could play an evil deity as Damien Thorn in Omen III.

He was dark and sinister, carrying an aura of menace. But Neill was also charismatic and you couldn't help being magnetized to him whenever he was onscreen.

Precisely, he also had a wonderful sense of authorative villainy about him in Peaky Blinders. I can also picture him having a suitable voice for the character, with the added bonus of him probably looking right for it via performance capture

He revealed it himself a couple of months back. It's a minor role. Neill worked with Taika in his 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' movie. So I think that's the connection.

Ragnarok will be a Jurassic Park reunion of sorts I guess.
