And it's probably what they'll do anyways, because of the show's grounded universe. And its the version seen from Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers.
In case any one of you don't know what I'm talking about: Seven Soldiers was a long line of comics books written by Grant Morrison where the new version of the Seven Soldiers of Victory fight the Sheeda race.
DC VERSION:
In the series, we learn that Darkseid and the rest of the New Gods (both for him and against him) have embodied human forms (Darkseid now known as Boss Dark Side, wearing subglasses to hide his red eyes) and all of them operate in an underground club called the Dark Side Club. They recruit new loyal servants, and like Roulette metahuman fight club, they provide a fighting ring for their wealthy patrons. The metahumans happen to come from Granny Goodness' orphanage, where captured orphans are fed drugs, and then abused and controlled by Granny. Another factor, and important plot point from Final Crisis, is that the captured metahuman children have been taught to say the Anti-Life Equation; an objective Darkseid/Boss Dark Side plans to use to win the planet Earth.
Here is Darkseid as Boss Dark Side:
And that could be Smallville's Darkseid if they go that far. And because I like to hope and dream (then later, suffer the fall of that dream), here is the my...
PERDICTION FOR SMALLVILLE:
Just like the comic, we have the Dark Side Club. And also like the comic, their human roles have the following roles: from Apokolips; Desaad is a psychiatrist, Granny Goodness's a pimp, and Darkseid is their evil gang leader, Boss Dark Side. And to round off the New Gods, New Genesis is featured too (again, like ther comic), and for them they are: Highfather and his followers are now a group of homeless people, while Metron uses a wheelchair, and Orion is believed dead (this is where my perdiction comes in). We can say that, because it'll be the case here (because of television), that their human bodies are their true bodies in this take.
I perdict: Checkmate has known that Darkseid would attack, but didn't know when; so they wanted to be prepared, with Waller doing the wrong things for good reasons (arresting the JSA, and as we'll see later from this post, harassing Clark for info on the new heroes). Darkseid acts like the devil, and anytime he is seen with someone, it comes off like a Twilight Zone episode where that person goes as far as he wouldn't but does go to achieve his/her goals. In the process, whether they're stopped or not by Clark/The Blur, Dark Side comes to their aid, and takes them to their club to be "rounded off" (as in, they showed loyality, and now they're be trained by being abused and drugged). Turpin comes into play and he will be facing off against Darkseid/Dark Side before Clark does. Also, Darkseid/Dark Side knowns about a certain "savior" in Clark, dubbing as the Blur. And in a twist and using the actor that they had for Season 8; Darkseid/Dark Side brings back Lex Luthor in a new but similar form.
And as the season progresses; Darkseid reveals himself and he brings hell on Earth (similar to the events of Final Crisis). This is where Clark comes in, says the world needs hope and not darkness, and...well, this is where the show has to come in, because of course, since Season 10 is (or has to be) the final season, what I just sais leads into the final step Clark takes to become, or the moments he finally becomes, Superman!
That's my perdiction.
