Darren Aronofsky is taking on The Wrestler

I just signed up to be an extra
that's awesome. and i looked at the site, and i got chills.

the last filming is at an ROH show :heart::heart:

is it me or does this movie get better and better every time we hear something new?

either try to get off a couple videos =) digicam over cell phone is preferable, as it's better quality ^_^ or if you can't get videos at least try to let us know what went down.

i envy you. i really do.

did some searching on the youtube for some more videos. here's one from his necro match. the way the crowd chants, it sounds like he is playing necro in the movie.

and this user has 6 very low quality cell phone videos of filming from a different show. once again the ram uses welcome to the jungle as his music. so he appears to have won this match as well. in video 6 you see a little bit of aronofsky and the actors going through spots. http://youtube.com/user/Rourketrade

nothing that interesting REALLY on those cell phones vids. but it's something

but the stuff in that necro video is kind of cool. they do the "boo" "yay" chants. which i love. so check those out =D

I posted it a few pages back. Still awesome though.

yeah. those two videos from the necro match are the best looks we have at the thing. there are other videos from the czw event. not as interesting though

I love how Rourke takes the bloodied wrestler down.

and what's funny is that that's after the match is over.

Just got this through Email

This film is shaping up to be brill. I've alway pondered the idea of a film that portrayed the real world of wrestling as it is, and this looks like this is that film.

Can't wait!

Donnie, I hope you'll have spoilers for us tonight or tomorrow =)

I couldn't get up there tonight, the drive was to far and I had work till around 5:00. Hopefully I get there tommorow.

that's cool. thanks for the update

and even if you don't make it, hopefully there will be some leaks from other places. maybe the ROH message boards, although i dont go there.

I didn't really realise how far it was till I map quested it:csad: I'll try fellas, if not i'll search for some photos.

cool. i'm hopin for a report or video from someone. i wonder who is playing the guy he is wrestling. it's the big finale match and i'm curious who it is, and what happens

update: the most info i could find on the ROH message boards was this
ernist the cat miller DID indeed play "The Ayatollah, the beast from the middle east." guess he was a lot bigger. i imagine he's a mix between abdullah the butcher and the iron sheik. closest thing to a description was "looked real porky. didn't realize it was him at first. thought it was ving rhames." which is an odd description to hear of the cat. didn't say what happened in the match or anything like that. they did briefly mention that for some of the filming "mickey rourke was doing some highflying stuff." i think the fans were getting really tired of the filming. they didnt get any intermissions. so that's all the info i have found as of now

nothing too major, but just incase people didn't wanna see it, i put it in spoiler tags.

update 2: stuff is still comin in. a cool quote that was just posted from "guesswhatidid" on the ROH boards:
I didn't realize it was a stunt double when they filmed the first parts of Randy the Ram Vs. The Ayatollah and I thought Rourke was actually a good wrestler.

Hell, Rourke did do a plancha though later in the night...
so apparently rourke actually did a plancha :wow: not a stunt double. i'm interested in this match and this movie a lot. i wonder how the matches will come across. very interesting stuff.
