David Cronenberg's "A Dangerous Method"

Based from the reviews from the Venice Film Festival, the entire cast (Viggo, Fassy and Keira) is superb. Some found Keira to be a bit over the top but she got better as the film progressed. A lot were saying that Viggo steals the show.

Doesn't Keira play a mentally-unhinged Russian woman? I'd expect her to be a little over-the-top.

And of course Viggo Mortensen steals the show. He's Viggo ****ing Mortensen .

^ Yes, she does. And agreed about Viggo. :hrt:

Question is, would Viggo be up for a Best Leading Actor or Best Supporting Actor nomination?

It'd break my heart to see Oldman and Mortensen pitted against each other :csad:.

His role is the smallest out of the three so I'd say Supporting Actor. I think they'll push for Lead Actress for Keira, Lead Actor for Fassy and Supporting Actor for Viggo.

So in an ideal world, BSA nominations for Mortensen (A Dangerous Method) and Hardy (Warrior), and BA nomination for Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy).

A Waltz/Bale combo would've rocked as well! :awesome:

'A DANGEROUS METHOD'S' ORIGINAL STARS, CHRISTIAN BALE AND CHRISTOPH WALTZ, DROPPED OUT

"Waltz waltzed and Bale bailed," Cronenberg said. Though the director is understanding of Bale's decision to withdraw without ever being formally attached, talk of Waltz' departure shakes the director's mellowness just the tiniest bit. "Christoph [had] pursued the project," he explains. "He came to me to convince me to take him as Freud; his grandfather had been a pupil of Freud. [After] Inglourious Basterds, all the German money was built around him, and when he bailed, a lot of that money went as well."

Damn... now I want Bale and Waltz to star in a movie together. I don't care what movie, that just needs to happen now.

Oh yes, because Keira has ever been bad in a film.

This will be like most reviews of Keira's films. She will be good, people with irrational hate will complain that she pouts too much.

I think Knightley is a good actress, a few meh choice of movies here and there but she's a capable actress. I'm taking a stab in the dark but isn't that since her role is a lunatic it requires her to act quite close to over-the-top, that's at least how Cronenberg wanted to her to be in the movie but it's splitting critics judging from the review I've read, some like it and others just don't. Anyway I think this over-the-top acting is like in the first act because as the film progress she begins to be more normal.

She is far more then capable. Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, Never Let Me Go, Last Night, etc.

Yeah I've seen those. Wright is one director who she worked with where she really get to show how good she is. King Arthur and Domino, meh but I could look past those for the other movies she's been in since that was still quite early in her career and heck it's still now as well, she has plenty of years to grow as an actress.

LOL, that's great.

Seriously, though. I can't believe this film got snubbed by the awards. Knightley DEFINITELY deserved a nomination, and Fass and Viggo were 100 times better than some of the other people who got nominated.

But then I guess it's tough to compete with Jonah Hill's blank stares or Melissa McCarthy crapping in a sink.

My favorite complaint about the movie is that Knightley is over the top and awkward and is uncomfortable to watch at times in this film. All that means is that she did her job really well. She playing a hysterical woman.

The one problem with this film is the superficial screenplay. That the cast and crew got as much out of it as they did was quite the accomplishment.

keria is so underrated it is sickening she out shined carey mulligan in never let me go

and constantly puts on good performances

Well, Carey Mulligan is an amazing actress in her own right. Have you seen An Education? I also think Mulligan has done a better job picking movies than Knightley has lately, and she has garnered alot of attention in the movies she has and will appear in (like The Great Gatsby). I hope Knightley will be a bit more aggressive in pursuing film roles, although with the great crop of terrific young actresses we have right now in Hollywood, I'm sure the coveted roles are extremely competitive and hard to obtain.

^she will be Anna Karenina in a film directed by Joe Wright

thats a huge role

Finally this movie is coming to my town tomorrow..

I don't have high expectations, but it's Cronenberg and mah man Fassbender, so I've gotta see it..
