David Finch: "No More Ultimate Comics."

Isn't it basically the same deal as Secret Invasion, then? Secret Invasion is, at its core, just an alien invasion story. Bendis is going continuity-crazy in New Avengers and Mighty Avengers, but you don't really need to know any of that to enjoy Secret Invasion. The plot is actually pretty simple and continuity-free: shapeshifting religious zealots from another planet infiltrate and attack Earth while Earth's heroes are wrapped up in their own problems. Does it enrich the story to know that Earth has had previous dealings with the Skrulls, that various characters were replaced at very specific times, that the Skrulls may or may not have had a role to play in various other things? Sure. But it's not necessary to enjoy the story.

Yeah.

To be honest it was the avengers titles i had in mind as being less accessible than 616

Not really no. It doesn't really rely on knowing on specific continuity as it's set in the early days before the universe 'started' (at least thus far).

It's an odd project actually considering noone really cares anymore.

I care. I am aways intrigued when people try to take a set of what may seem like standalone stories and have them all connect to each other whether it was planned from the start or they decided to do it at a later date. Sometimes the end product is great other times not so much.

I'm not really sure why they let Loeb even touch the Ultimates title. It was awesome before they changed it completely. Ever hear the expression, if it's not broke don't fix it?

But anyway, I guess no Ultimates is better than Loeb Ultimates.

Well, Millar and Hitch weren't coming back. Rather than try and emulate their comic with a different creative team, I think they wanted Loeb to go wild and do it completely in his own way. Seems kind of dumb in retrospect, but they probably thought they were respecting Millar's creative "genius" or something at the time.

Granted, it's all moot because Ultimates 3 still sells extremely well, regardless of how much everyone b****es about it. Fanboys need to learn that the wallet speaks louder than words every time. Want to ensure Loeb never touches Ultimates again? Make his volume of Ultimates sell really, really badly.

lololololol. And people say DC doesnt know what they're doing....

Yeah, sales show that. Oh snapzzzzz!

Motherboxxxxxxxxx!

Marvel did Spider-Man: One More Day. Nuff said.

While I hate OMD with an undying passion....DC made Countdown.:o

I seriously can't imagine Marvel canceling the Ultimate line, especially considering that the poster child Bendis has so much invested in it. Bendis has stated time and time again that he has the next 2 years and so on already written for USM. I personally enjoy the Ultimate line a great deal, especially Ultimate Spider-man which is my favorite title on the Market. With all the crap going on in 616 Spider-man, the title is a breath of fresh air.

Yeah I don't see it happening either. Besides Joe Q said in Wizard that only one of the Ult titles will be canceled after Ultimatum. Heres hopin it UFF that gets the boot.

I'm pretty sure it's Ultimate FF or X-men.I'm leaning towards X-men cause no one has give a **** about since Vaughn left the title.

the last two issues with the new writer has been pretty good.

they are going to axe on title and then basically turn the Ultimate universe in the What If...? universe, stories with no continuity or inter-connectivity. that's what i foresee.

Ding-dong. Here's hoping they use the newfound space to add some more quality titles to the 616 line.
My fingers are crossed for an Iredeemable Ant-Man relaunch. Hey, it could happen. :yay:

...no it can't. :csad:

Bendis said:
- Will Bendis leave Ultimate Spider-Man?

Bendis: "I thought about it." But he decided he wasn't done. "I truly love him and I just think there's something very cathartic to pick at the high school wounds of my life and spill them out onto the page for you." He won't be leaving for awhile, so "sorry to Robert Kirkman and Brian Reed."
And...
Bendis said:
- The Ultimate line has lost some of its uniqueness. How will Marvel address this?

Bendis: He disagreed, but said to read Ultimate Origins and Ultimatum. "The Ultimate line couldn't be more important to me and to Marvel."

I can do without the Ultimate line.
I understand it's a different look at the 616, But I just really didn't get into that view.
There were some GREAT ideas come from that line just not enough to keep MY attention accept for alot of the art.

I gave up on the Ultimate line when they killed Gwen Stacey so early on that it had no emotional impact at all.

Meh...the Ultimate Universe ends when Bendis stops writing Ultimate Spider-Man.
