David goyer has talked about writing this for years. Great news imo. Goyer is controversial around here but I'm down with him

Fantastic news, Goyer gets way too much hate IMO

WB is clearly putting too much faith in Goyer. After BVS, I'd assume he'd have dropped him. Oh well!

And this is why DC fails.....

"buddy cop movie" with John Stewart and Hal Jordan, "Lethal Weapon in space"....this sounds so freaking stupid.
More even, sounds like DC version of Guardians of the Galaxy..all it needs is a Blue Swede music...

Heck, Green Lantern should have been that comic book space opera that Guardians ended up being later, but poor writing and direction derailed that. There's always gonna be similarities within these universes, if Cap and Superman are any indication.

But GotG has a lighter tone, one that GL can easily run away from.

But the thing is the all "buddy cop movie" crap....

I've never heard of this Justin Rhodes fellow

Fine by me, I also have no issue with Goyer. People will come and polish up whatever he starts with after of course.

Sounds good to me! Especially the buddy movie concept with Hal and John.

Goyer is terrific at story structure, decidedly less so on actual dialogue. His script will be polished by someone more competent at banter.

They somehow managed to pair David Goyer with someone worse.

Ugh.

Great news! For all the Goyer hate, he is a great ideas man and to hear that he AND Geoff Johns came up with idea for the story is awesome. It reminds me of when he and Nolan came up with idea for Man of Steel. Just imagine his ideas with the SFX of Synder or a good director with an eye for effects😃

Both Hal and John? Lethal Weapon in space. Count me out for now

And that's a good thing?
Man of Steel is horrible.

The "Kryptonian Dragon" that Jor-El rides is almost laughable.

Because that's what Superman's mythology needed...dragons :whatever:

And there is Superman himself, which is awful....

"Lethal Weapon in space" is something I can get behind and would be a welcome change after how needlessly dark BVS was. My problem is Goyer's DC resume thus far has given me no indication he can do humor or one-liners. That's why I'm frankly flummoxed as to why WB would assign this movie to him.

Is anyone familiar with Rhodes? Can he do humor or dialogue well?

Huh? Man of Steel was great! It's one of the few movies I have seen in the theatres multiple times and every time it's on cable I can watch it over and over.
Some of the dialogue was clunky but it had a great beginners for the DCCU with a Superman that actually embraced different parts of his mythology. It showed that someone who actually knows comics was involved in making it.
I wish they took their time and just focused on a great Man of Steel trilogy instead of rushing to get to Justice League 😩

I'm glad you liked it, honestly.
But no, it's not, in any way or form, a good movie or a good adaptation.

No one involved has any idea of who Superman is.
There is nothing remotely close to the character, except for the name and powers.

Superman is not a depressed person, looking like he is on the verge of suicide; who is violent and wears a dark blue suit, giving the idea that "it's edgy because it's dark".
Martha Kent is not a repressed old woman, with a "f**k the world" attitude and give sentences like "the world doesn't owe you anything" (or something like that).
Krypton doesn't have dragons and the idea alone is ridiculous.

It's even worst in Batman vs Superman, where Superman actually threatens to kill Batman if he doesn't stop being Batman.
Or have Batman killing people.

But hey...glad you liked it...someone had to.

It's a watchable movie, but not a great one, and an even worst adaptation.
5/10

The main problem is that Snyder wanted so much to do a "what if Superman really existed" that he missed what Superman is all about.

Has David Goyer ever written a good script without Christopher Nolan assisting?

I quite liked Blade and Blade II. Totally wrong tones for a GL Corps movie though.

Instead of a Lethal Weapon tone, they should go full Training Day.
