Wouldn't a "Lethal Weapon" in space be EXACTLY the tone so many are begging for in relation to the DCEU?

Yup. I know that's what I and many others wanted. The haters conveniently didn't chime in on the GLC discussion though. It's destructive criticism on their part. So now that Geoff and Berg say we're making GLC and it's going to be like Lethal Weapon in space the haters all come out of the woodwork talking about how terribad it is.

I'm glad we finally got news about this movie. Lets hope it's a good one!

Huh? Man of Steel was great!

Man of Steel was a masterpiece, yea, I've said it, best CBM since TDK beside Days of Futere Past and the fact it was a different take on Superman was one of the things why it was so great.

I loved the idealistic "You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders." versus the harsh reality of "You will not win. For every human you save, we will kill a million more".

Has David Goyer ever written a good script without Christopher Nolan assisting?
That was the first thing that crossed my mind.

Instead of a Lethal Weapon tone, they should go full Training Day.

Thats exactly what Green Lantern First flight was. A blend of that movie and Lethal weapon would be ideal.

I want to see some fun character dynamics with Hal and John as they discover what Sinestro's true intentions are.

I hope they don't gloss over the Hal/Sinestro dynamic. That relationship is one of the pillars of the GL mythology.

I'm sure Sinestro would be in the movie, even if it's a small part.

I'm fine with Goyer on GL. I'm unfamiliar with the other writer.

WB is clearly putting too much faith in Goyer. After BVS, I'd assume he'd have dropped him. Oh well!

Goyer was instrumental in the Dark Knight Trilogy yet people conveniently ignore that. Man of Steel is my favourite modern era superhero film bar none so Goyer excites me.

Also you do know most of his stuff was rewritten by Terrio for BvS don't you?

With Goyer, I've seen a lot of hit and misses.

His work on the DKT and the first Blade were pretty good. But his other works that also extend to "Call of Duty" video game franchise, have been pretty bad as well.

It remains to be seen if Geoff Johns can steer Goyer to an ideal vision of the Green Lantern core.

I hope so because, one of my friends, is big GL fan and I hate to see his reaction become the same as my other friend who was a huge Superman fan.

My friend who's into Batman is okay with this darker tone, but hopes it get better with a Ben Affleck script.

I'm a big Spider-man fan, so I've been through and understand both sides of the spectrum.

Ignore it or discredit him by saying Nolan scrapped it all and rewrote the scripts.

After B&R Goyer started the new wave of CBMs with "Blade" I and II (Trinity was crappy and was a victim of the same thing that is happening now - making everything kid/family friendly).
What followed was a comic book fan's dream - "X-Men", "Spider-man", TDK Trilogy, "Watchmen", "V for Vendetta", "Iron Man", TFA and even TIH - It was perfect. Then 2012 came and everything after that had to be made using the same formula or it will be shat on. Thankfully him and Nolan stuck around for MoS and BVS and Snyder didn't give a **** about the new trend.
Still hopeful for Wondy and JL, and now that he's back I'm excited for GL as well.

I like the idea of a space epic with the lethal weapon formula . You have Hal Jordan playing the hot shot and fearless space cop . He seems to have no fear of death which deep down stems from not just losing his father that was his hero and best friend but actually watching his father die in this horrible and tragic fashion. On the surface he seems to be this cocky and reckless green lantern and tends to rush in with ring blazing but at moments you see he really is a very caring and sincere individual that at the end of the day hides all those emotions behind sarcasm and bravado . Due to his nature the Guardians enlist Stewart to be his partner in order to keep somewhat of a leash on Jordan as Stewart plays by the rules , respects authority , and always thinks before leaping . In the end these two opposites form a brotherhood and friendship and teach each other that both sides has its pros and cons . Set this to big space battles , epic guardian mythology, and betrayal of the corps by its one time golden boy Sinestro and I'd say you have a great film that could rival the best of any Star Trek and Star Wars movies

What exactly is the Marvel formula?
https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/596v7m/what_exactly_is_the_marvel_formula/

Note-
Mcu movie villain are decent to really good, but remember the main focus are heroes, not villains.
The mcu shows have better developed villains on average then the mcu movies by the way.Hive, quake's mom and ward on aos were developed villains for example, then there is kingpin, kilgrave, villains from the marvel's peggy carter show etc..
I think live action dc shows villains are more developed then dc movie villains too,so it's not only just a live action marvel thing.
Why Marvel’s Success Story is More Than Just a ‘Formula’

All mcu movies are rated higher on average then dceu movies from critics to audiences, like it or not.
All are mcu movies are RATED higher then dceu movies on the Rt Tomatometer and Audiences liked scores.
None are rotten on RT.
Keep in that mind people.

Note-most of the mcu movies if i could recall do not have world ending events by the ways.

Hey Johns if you're reading this, give Goyer the big boot and hire this person asap.

By the way if there is a mcu formula vs dceu formula i think most folks would choose marvel's,oh wait, they are doing that now.
Anyway marvel's mcu movie tone, stories, action etc.. is more diverse then the dceu and dc period, and more diverse if you include the mcu shows, related comics and other related stuff.
The show kyproton will the dceu first show on Syfy.
There are many that are saying it does not make sense and at least all the mcu upcoming shows, current ones etc.. do.
I wonder how it will turn out?and i hope it's good.
I will be watching it.

Once again, Grace Randolph uses the opportunity to slag off somebody in the film industry, remind me again Grace, what it was you did again ?

Exactly!, MOS was full of hope and was not depressing in the least. It was a fresh take on my 2nd favorite hero (1st Bats) and took Supes seriously. It embraced parts if Birthright, Earth One and All Star for cryin out loud. It was ACTION Comics on screen for me.
