Show was greenlit only for pilot order it seems. Nothing official yet about series order/pickup.

Looks amazing, cannot wait for this.

The buzz this trailer is getting, I think a full or half season order will be happening for sure.

I was wondering why there was a trailer when the show wasn't greenlit. Well, going by the trailer I don't see any particular reason to think they won't sign off on it, unless there's budgetary concerns.

Syfy is being quite conscientious about their reputation and the shows that they green light. DCEU's current reputation may make them... cautious.

I doubt general audiences will even make the DCEU connection. In any case it's going to be a loose one. It's set in the past for one and it's never going to crossover with the movies.

heh?
Dunno why. The DCEU is very in-line with the kind of scifi they do nowadays.

What does that have to do with anything? This is a TV show not a movie & DC TV shows making big money.

If they're concerned about their reputation, they probably shouldn't have made five Sharknado movies.

Syfy currently outputing a good set of scripted sci-fi/fantasy shows -- 12 Monkeys, The Expanse, The Magicians, Channel Zero, and Dark Matter.

In addition to the Krypton pilot being greenlit, they also have a series order for Blood Drive, and two in development projects with Amblin Entertainment --Brave New World (Aldous Huxley), and with Paramount/Universal --Stranger in Strange Land (Robert Heinlein).

That CGI looks mighty fine for a TV show.

But they are not up to the quality of the stuff Syfy has been putting out. Everyone should be cautious about the quality of a Goyer helmed show. Everything I've seen seems to indicate that now, Goyer would not be making a show that is good scifi. Honestly, the show has as much potential as Caprica had. A society on the brink of calamity.

And to be clear, Syfy has done a lot of rebuilding of their brand in terms of shows and miniseries. Yeah, the movies are crap. But there is still some very good quality of scifi on the channel again.

that trailer looked pretty damn good. wow, looking forward to this.

and they all get cancelled lol what good is great quality if no one wants to watch it

If they get a series order I say pull a LEGION on FX. Give us 8-10 high quality episodes with great production values and no filler. Just move the story forward with each episode. Even with the Marvel Netflix shows some of them could have benefited from a shorter episode run.

I think it more like what good is quality if the network won't support it even if it's not setting the ratings on fire just starting out? There are classic shows we all grew up with that took time to find their way to mainstream success.

I'm more wary that they let Goyer do another DC show, but the premise is dumb enough to be in his wheelhouse and
be on par with Syfy's Z Nation, Wynona Earp, and Van Helsing

lol "brink of calamity" when it's supposedly set 200 years before the calamity

Goyer on tv isn't half bad, I liked Constantine. His series Da Vinci's Demons finished its run not long ago and Flashforward not bad. As far as this show I like what I have seen so far. I'm curious about the houses on Krypton I've always thought that was interesting. Depending the mythology they choose we could see Brainiac easter eggs with the alien origin or DCAU version.

So the city in a bubble looks like we might be getting a look at the collector Brainiac.

Agreed, forget doing 20+ cause then we get too much filler. Keep it tight and produce the best shows you can. I think all TV shows (not including comedy shows) would massively benefit from been anywhere between 10-14 episodes a season.

I had no idea this was this far in production. It looks really nice and I will definitely check it out when it comes.

Agreed.

I think something like eight to 12 episodes a season would be a sweet-spot for this.

Syfy doesn't do episode runs that long. Cable works very differently to broadcast TV. It will likely be 10-13 episodes.

Even 13 is pushing it. Keep it ten or less. Allows more budget to the VFX which this show requires a high level of. Focuses the writing too.
