I just hope Bale isn't involved. The last thing he needs is to be typecast. One more Batman movie, then run as fast as he can from Batman, Terminator, etc.

Bale is Batman. There can be no other right now.

Look at how the studio is sucking Nolan's nuts. They feel the same way about Bale. They'll probably up his salary to keep him going as Batman.

Bale is Batman, yet he is already being caricatured because of the Batvoice and his tantrum on the Terminator set. He is too talented of an actor to pidgeonhole himself. He needs to get back to roles like The Prestige, Rescue Dawn, 3:10 To Yuma, and so forth.

Which he can always do in between the Batman films...

Just like he is doing now with "The Fighter".

So I don't see how he'd be pigeonholing himself honestly.

...the only thing that bothers me is the fact that they are going back to John Byrne for a modern reboot? Why not Jeph Loeb or Mark Waid? They are much more modern.
I think it's just a reference to using the template Byrne set for a corporate Luthor, a non-nerdy Clark Kent, and Jonathan and Martha Kent both still being alive. Beyond that, I don't think they're going to confine themselves to drawing just from Byrne.

I am looking forward to The Fighter. Bale is getting a lot of buzz for his work in that one. But he is too talented to continue going through the motions as Batman, which is exactly how his work in TDK felt to me other than the final scene with Gordon and Dent.

The Terminator thing, yes. But the Batvoice has been complained about in the general public. When my mother and sister are complaining about it, it has infiltrated the mainstream.

She watched the movie. Who in North America DIDN'T watch this movie? It's not like this is some tiny fanboy movie. I asked her what she thought of it. She liked it but she did complain about the voice.

We constantly make fun of the Batman voice where I work at. That and Bale's tantrum.

noone cares what mothers from fanboy think ok?

I may be a fanboy, but my mom is a normal part of the general audience that saw the Dark Knight. It's a very simple concept dude. She represents the average person who watched the movie. If she's whining about the voice and fanboys are defending the voice, then that pretty much says it all now doesn't it?

The complaints exist, there's really nothing that can be done with it now. What's 1 more, or 20 more going to do? At worst, repeat the same faults that people aren't liking.

I'm not a fan of Bale's Batman either, but if he can sustain his film career while still playing Batman, especially in what could be DC's golden age...go for it. This isn't likely to happen again, especially with this much talent.

I think even most fanboys see Bale's Batman voice as the one weak part of his performance. While he's been very good in the part overall, I wouldn't mind if he bowed out of the role and was replaced by someone else if a Justice League film is made since his Batman voice would become more of a liability in a film where Batman is in costume most of the time and where he speaks to his fellow superheroes a fair amount.

Batman: Would you like some coffee, Flash?

Flash: Why are you shouting at me?

I didn't mean to imply that I'm not a fan of his Batman. I am a fan of it. I like his intensity as Batman and he does a great job as Bruce Wayne, especially in Batman Begins.

I can think of worse things than being type cast...didnt hartnett give that excuse as to why he turned down Superman? Whats he been up to lately.:oldrazz:

I wasn't referring to you, exactly, just those that don't like his portrayal. Which encompasses the voice and all the other things.

While I am critical of the voice, I think Bale has received too much of the blame on this. Christopher Nolan is the director. Christopher Nolan is the one who thought it was a good idea to not only keep the voice after Batman Begins, but go even more over the top with it in The Dark Knight by adding post-production effects to the voice. At the end of the day, Nolan is the one who deserves more criticism on this since he's the director of the films. It's a bit like when people try to blame Goyer entirely for the bad dialogue in Batman Begins. Nolan is not only the director of that film, but also helped Goyer edit the script. Nolan deserves just as much blame as Goyer. Heck, he probably deserves more of the blame than Goyer. He could have thrown Goyer's script out the window, used Goyer's story ideas (Goyer offered them for free), and written better dialogue on his own. But he didn't. He kept most of Goyer's script.

I am fine with a no origin movie. But, they should do a montage in the opening credits showing...Krypton exploding, his spaceship landing on earth, being found and raised by the Kents and ending with him making his first appearance as Supes doing some spectacular rescue. No speaking..just the scenes with the credits and music playing.

Also, someone mentioned that they originally wanted a Supes cameo in GL. Well GL doesn't come out until 2011. More than enough time for Warner to find an actor to play Supes. Then its just a matter of filming a 1 or 2 minute scene (ala the ones at the end of Iron Man & Hulk).

True, Nolan may deserve most of the rap for the VOICE, but nevertheless it's become a part of Bale's Batman in the public imagination. I suppose they could tone it down in a JLA film, but I'd be amenable to someone else in the part (depending on who that someone was of course).

No origin is a mistake imho.

I want to see a modern telling of how he became Superman (not the whole movie but Krypton/SV covered in 15-20 minutes)

Pretty much the extent of how BB handled him becoming Batman.

So I gather we won't be seeing Clark get his job at the DP and meet everyone for the first time?

I will hold out hope that it just won't be an "extensive" origin, but still enough to set him up as a fresh character.

BB took an hour before Batman shows up on screen, not 15-20 minutes.

Anything Post-SV is all fair and game. Origin isn't in because they simply do not have the legal right to do so. But that's only "limited" to Krypton and Smallville.

They can still do Clark's first outing in Metropolis if they wished to. I don't think it's necessary though, as the film can still establish all their working relationships just as well if they excluded it. SR's issue was the disconnect between the cast. Didn't really feel like a team.

Even if they don't do the whole origin and show Jor-El, Lara, Krypton exploding, Kal-El being sent to Earth etc, it would be cool if it started with Clark arriving at Metropolis for the first time. Seeing his first public rescue as Superman would be cool.
