Why are people doubting Goyer as a writer?

He's had his bumps but his successes far outweigh his failures.

ah....yes.....I forgot about that issue........:cmad:

Whether or not they do an origin....they MUST connect the characters with the audience ( and origins are generally a good way to do that ).

While Supes, Lois, Lex, and co are popular and well-known characters, they can't make the mistake of SR and expect everyone to know these characters and their relationships with each other.

We need to know who Clark/Superman is and why he's the type of man he his. What's his relationship with Lois...why does he love. Why does Lex hate Superman so much......etc.

The story doesn't have to be perfectly linear....but we do need to care about the characters on screen. Otherwise, they will come across as flat and 2 dimentional.......a problem many of us had with SR.....

Just look at the first episode of lois and clark. They did a great job of introducing all the character and clark to the big city without any origin stuff. That version was also heavily influence by Bryne. It seems the safe way to go if the lawsuit isn't settled yet. I'm sure they won't stick to it exactly but probably as a jumping on point, i really hope they'll also look at something like Birthright when writing this. Since Goyer is a big comic buff i'm really excited about this news.

I've said it before if you took the great character dynamics that were in lois and clark (heavily influence by Bryne) but added in a better superman you'd have yourself a pretty fantastic movie! Hopefully this will be great :wow:

It's exectutives and celebrities job to lie. Just like when they're promoting a piece of **** movie ha ha. That's no exaggeration.

the quality of goyer's work ranges pretty evenly between complete crap and good. (not great, but good). he does best under strict guidance. and he's more solid with story ideas than he is with writing. the more he's left to his own devices, the more likely he fails. blade and batman begins are his strongest works, which are really good, and i think that causes most fans to turn a blind eye to everything else he's done. but soooooo much of his other work is just mediocrity and crap.

i hope goyer is used just as a launching point. let him come up with a story treatment, maybe even a first draft. but then let a more qualified writer take it from there.

Great news! Goyer has not always have done a great job on his script (Blade Trinity), but with Nolan's involvement I do think that Goyer will make sure to turn in a strong script. Plus, we get both Luthor *and* Brainiac? With the right director attached (hopefully not Goyer), we may be looking at a great Superman movie. It's too bad about Routh, but since it's a reboot it'd be better to get a new Supe instead.

LR is lockstep with WB. Its like Alan Horn runs the website or something. They were the 1st break Ledger as Joker.

AICN on this one is completely wrong.

Variety has already confirmed it and LA seems completely confident.

I'll stick with the trades & LA.

So we are convinced that Nolan is mentoring and Goyer is writing. If this is true thats two ingredients that are spot on.

I guess it's time to rename the boards from "Untitled Superman Film" to "Man Of Steel".

I loved Blade, Blade 2, TDK and liked Batman Begins. I'm not crying over this news, I just said I hope that somebody else is allowed to clean up his dialogue because I came close to hating some of it in Batman Begins. Blade 1 and 2 were just action movies so their simple dialogue worked pretty well.

We know who the info came from, it's legit. What is Tull going to say, "Yeah we are hiring Goyer, thanks for calling." AICN and Hit Fix are both lost in space on this one.

with hit fix, poor Moriarty have been wrong twice about the Green Lantern news:

He reported that Bradley Cooper was cast as Hal Jordan; it wen to Ryan Reynolds.

Then he reported that Jackie Earle Haley was cast as Sinestro; it went to Mark Strong.

AICN and along with Drew haven't turned up any goods in a while.

Not to say they are always wrong but with this one they should just update their articles and write "Oops".

I wouldn't be surprised if Louis Letterier is offered to direct. He's an action director who's enthusiastic to do Superman, and he did Clash of the Titans for WB, so who knows. He's someone I wouldn't mind anyway.

Louis Letterier flopped with Hulk, I'd be surprised if it went to him.
i guess it's time to rename the boards from "untitled superman film" to "man of steel".

here here

AICN has broken alot of stories but sometimes they are wrong. This is one of those times.

I've been staying out of the Supes threads for a while, since I didn't really have any opinions for all the non-news. I'm digging the Goyer news, and obviously I'm happy with Nolan. What I'm not tickled about is the Byrne news and no Brandon. I think the Byrne thing could be okay, if handled carefully, but i hate that Brandon was handed the keys to the kingdom and then the locks got changed. I thought he was one of the redeeming attributes of SR.

Neither would I.

I can't believe i got the title of the reboot right.
