Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

I think the sequel will feature a few surviving characters from the previous films, and not just Caesar and his tribe. It seems a cheat for Franco's character to bite the dust off-screen... they could always use that alternate ending from the previous film. Then again, the reshot ending was far better.

And Burns was hired because of his expert handling of multiple storylines in Contagion as well as how the virus spread. It's actually a very smart idea for him to be on board rewriting Silver and Jaffa's script.

I think its possible for Franco and gf to be alive because of his inside knowings of the virus..he could be hard at work on a antidote..finds one that only lasts days at a time..eventually time runs out and he dies. And remember, judging buy the older films, some humans do survive but its in very small numbers.

Im still tryna find that video of the alternate ending, didnt come on the UK blu-ray.

I like this news. Enjoyed both Contagion and The Bourne Ultimatum.

I think Franco's story is over, but for continuity's sake I hope they bring him back in some capacity.

I havent seen Contagion, but judging by what I know of it and the inevitable spreading of the virus discovered in Rise, he seems a good pick, so we'll see how this goes.

For me, Franco has to be in it in at least some capacity, they cant just get rid of him off-screen it would be very cheap.

Before I saw it I hadn't heard the best words about it. I'd really recommend it, though. And it's a good sign they got him, because he'll treat the story seriously.

And since it's a virus, I like jonnywhc's suggestion that he could help with the virus. Due to knowing Caesar he could even serve as a liaison between humans and apes.

I know I'm beyond ridiculously late to the RotPotA Sequel Title Guessing Party, but if I may make a suggestion...

Caesar: Reign of the Planet of the Apes

:woot:

I would've gone with Caesar: Reign of the Apes for the sake of simplicity, but you have to have "Planet of the" in the title, s others have said.

Ooooooohhhhh just got another idea!:exp:

Ascension of the Planet of the Apes!!!

I might prefer this to 'Reign', since it keeps the arc of 'Rise' going and implies the Apes setting themselves up as future overlords.

I love making up titles :hehe:

Can't wait for the sequel! I liked the 1st movie a lot!

But I agree with some people here, the movie title is ridiculous.

I so bad at making up titles, it's not even funny. I think that at this point they can afford to let go of the "Planet of" part of the title.

They can but they won't. I think the writers said in that interview on the first page there's a pulp-scifi appeal to the titles, so they may as well keep it and look for that perfect noun :cwink:

Ah, yeah, now I remember. It's fine either way to me. As long as the movie's great!

The screenwriter is good. I'm really looking forward to the sequel.

Holy crap, I was actually thinking of that as the title of the movie! :wow:

Minus the "Caesar" part, of course.

Contagion was a very good movie and made me take about 4 showers afterwards and never touch my face again. If he can bring that level of creepyness to this sequel then I will be happy.

I agree, it really makes you think afterwards about everything you touch and inhale

Haha. Great minds :highfive:

It was a subtle callback to the original title of RotPotA, Caesar: Rise of the Apes. Idk, it rolls off the tongue nicely IMO

I hope it's not this thread's title. It's such a mouth full.

FOX have just announced that the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes will be titled Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and will release May 23rd, 2014.
