Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Predator is what? Something like 15-20 years old now. Aliens, roughly about the same? Do these monsters look fake as hell when you see them on-screen?

Am I supposed to identify and feel for these creatures? Am I supposed to look into their eyes and feel for them? NO. Man in suit was never going to work for this.

So I'm confused, this isn't a prequel to the old movies? Is it a reboot?

I was under the impression this is a complete reboot of conquest of the planet of the apes. Even the main ape has the same name and all. I guess reboot/reimagining.

That's pretty subjective and i'd be willing to bet most people find super realistic, but not quite real computer effects more distracting than something that is physically there.
Of course there are movies that mix both pretty well. And others, not so much.

That's a good looking poster and I can't wait to see this.

If he looked like that in every shot, I would be blown away - sadly he doesn't. (At least not from what we've seen in the trailers).

Incredible special effects and it should do well at the box office but i don't know about franco anymore

I think the concept is just too silly, even for normal movie goers. A bunch of chimpanzees and gorillas, literally armed with spears overthrow mankind?

Well, at least they look good.

Too silly? Are you familiar at all with the history and success of this franchise?

I have got to disagree with you. The backstory in the first adaption was quite plausible. Humans wiped themselves out, and in their absence, the other apes evolved, and took over the world.

A lot more plausible than apes trying to take over the world in the modern day (and apparently succeeding).

If you read the spoilers you would realize a bunch of chimpanzees and spears isn't what kills the hunans off. And actually what happens to the humans is very plausible. Especially when similar things have actually happened in the past couple years just on a smaller scale. You just need to watch the movie because what your thinking happens isn't actually what happens.

If he looked like that through out the movie I'd shut the hell up. instantly. :o

Really? I'm the complete opposite. I think the concept is very interesting, original, and promising. This honestly didn't even have to be a Planet of the Apes installment, it could have easily worked as it's own stand alone film. There are a lot of deep themes that the writers and directors could put into this film.

However, the cg shots are difficult to swallow. I'll definitely keep my eye out for this one because that last trailer was just amazing and easily put this film on my radar.

In the books, didnt the more advanced apes start breeding with the remaining human women and producing the "ape-men" we were familiar with from the old movies?

Or am I just confusing that with old porn memories? ;)

Great great clip. No one can mo cap and make you feel for a creature better than Andy Serkis.

Saw the trailer before Potter....looked great on the big screen. Sounded amazing in IMAX.
