:awesome:

For one day, I want you to communicate on the Hype with nothing but gifs. Words will not be permitted. :o

This makes NO sense. He has double the time to make this film compared to the last one.

Right.

Why its BS. He was getting tons of offers including that KGB project with Fassbender. But he had a sequel commitment in his original contract and Fox wouldn't let him go.

Sounds like he said, "OK. If I stay, I want more money" and Fox said, "No, you take the same as last time." So they mutually parted ways.

That seems way more plausible.

Any thoughts on who Fox will pick to helm the sequel? They have to be careful who they chose, otherwise the revived franchise will be out after the second film.

M. Night Shyamalan presents: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

book it. :o

It's possible he might want to just do something else instead of doing someone else's franchise and work.

Just remember even though Joss Whedon stayed on to do Avengers 2 and the other MCU projects, he was hesitant at first. Whedon's a creative writer type and he likes to write his own stories and characters that he's created instead of other people's creations. Now ultimately yeah he decided to go ahead and stay with Marvel for now, but these movies are a big commitment not to mention really exhausting to do.

Also remember we were all expecting a big finale for Singer and the X-Men movies. Singer had even written a treatment for it before he bailed to do Superman Returns. Sometimes if there's a passion project they will take that over something else.

Not saying this is the reason but maybe Wyatt wants to do something new instead of more reboot stuff.

This franchise is a big deal for Fox, they'll find some yes man to take it.

There just seems to more then this really.
Hell just like X-Men FC Fox really pushed the schedule to breaking point ( why i have no idea ). They had something like 9 months or so to make this movie. Wyatt was a director for hire and with a solid script , good actors and a VFX studio that delivers under pressure time and time again , he made a good movie.

So i really don't understand why Wyatt is dropping out when the release date is set 2 years from now.
I call BS on scheduling conflicts

I like the title "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes", although I also like the suggested "War Of The Planet Of The Apes" (maybe that could be used as the title for the 3rd movie).

I see the plot happening kinda like this. The virus from the first movie is spreading across the planet. Things are bad as people are dying, but they're not piling up like cordwood just yet. Franco is working on a cure when he realizes that the virus is actually the AZ-13 formula. He goes to the forest and asks Caesar for help. Caesar and some of the friendlier apes agree to supply blood samples. Another scientist makes the connection that the virus is tied to the intelligent apes, but blames the virus on them, thinking they're the ones who did something. He contacts the military, and they attack the apes. Meanwhile Franco developes a vaccine which he hopes will fight off the virus. It works, but a certain percentage (maybe 50% or so) develope a side effect of devolving into intellectual primitives. Thus the creation of the primitive humans introduced in the 1966 original.

Then in the sequel the war between humans and apes takes place in full. And then how the apes ultimately win dominance of the planet.

Yeah, I am as confused as anyone else, especially if this news is 100% legit, he has more time to develop the sequel than he had for the first movie, the release date is nearly 2 years away, yet he drops out, strange.

God knows who they will get to replace him.

he obviously wanted more money or wanted release date pushed back for likely wanting to do a film before sequel in other words he pulled a Bryan Singer:yay:

dude has had a year to start prepping and fox had Contagion screenwriter since may so they likely got a script done

Top Emerging Directors On Fox’s Short List To Helm ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’
MIKE FLEMING said:
EXCLUSIVE: 20th Century Fox has come up with a short list to replace Rupert Wyatt as the director of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. I’m hearing that Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves is atop the list, along with The Disappearance Of Alice Creed helmer J Blakeson, 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Crazy Heart and Mud director Jeff Nichols, Pacific Rim helmer Guillermo del Toro, The Impossible helmer Juan Antonio Bayona and Looper helmer Rian Johnson.

Those directors will be meeting with Fox production president Emma Watts to fill the plum post that Wyatt exited. Deadline revealed September 17 that Wyatt, who helmed the superb franchise reboot Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, would not reprise. I’d heard at the time that his exit was similar to the same reason that Gary Ross stepped out of Hunger Games: Catching Fire; with Wyatt uncomfortable about making the May 23, 2014 release date that the studio announced in May.

This should all be decided rather quickly, and this certainly helps the effort that Watts and Jim Gianopulos are making to invite elite emerging filmmakers into the Fox fold, with the promise of giving them more creative leeway. Who wouldn’t want to jump on this sequel, which already has a script by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver. They did the first film, which grossed $483 million worldwide and seamlessly set up the apocalyptic sequel plotline. Stay tuned.

Give it to Reeves. That is probably the guy that could capture what the first film had while adding his own spin.

I think we can take Guillermo del Toro out of the running -- the man likes to work to the beat of his own drum. However, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Rian Johnson and Matt Reeves are potentially exciting names.

That is an impressive list...

GDT being on the list is just ri-goddamn-diculous. The man can't even manage half of the projects that he gets started himself. What makes them think he has the time for this?
