Is Pietro (Peter, whatever :P) called Quicksilver in the film? If there's one thing the X-films are good at, it's slipping codenames into dialogue without sounding cheesy.

No, but he was the focus like he is in all the X-men movies with the exception of FC and even then the camera lingers on him far longer than it should have.

Well the thing with DOFP is that all the character we know from previous movies got a fresh new start and future development so we don't really know what will happen next or will they do the things they did in Origins (this one is completely erased as we all know who saved Logan),X1,2,3 and The Wolverine.

And that is a great thing ... with this one they put previous movies to rest and started a new improved timeline that can tell well known stories from previous movies a little bit different (yeah rogue has white strike but we don't know how it happened now that the future is changed ... Wolverine has his adamantium but we don't know how he got it because everything played different than before, also we don't know if Alkali lake and Jeans death happened at all etc)

I don't think so.

O: Given that '73 Xavier learns that the X-Men lose, that the track of his life, of merely teaching, would lead them all do their deaths - do you think he's trained the OT X-Men differently, harder than where they were at at X1? I remember in 2000 thinking how underpowered so many of them were: Storm and Jean couldn't fly, Rogue was weak-ass, Iceman could make lumps of ice.

Really the refreshed X-Men should all be kick-ass power-houses.

O: Also, Kennedy died in '63 meaning Magneto was imprisoned for a decade... yet when he gets released he does not seek revenge against the conspiracy that lead to his imprisonment. He doesn't even name them except to say "They stopped me [from saving Kennedy]" or something to that effect. Erik should have been all up in their grill, or at least sent two of the sentinels after them :P

Maybe it wasn't the time for that yet and they were dealing with other things.

When Blink died the first time, the Sentinel stabbed her through the portal that was closing and when it closed, it severed the Sentinel's arm.

Judging from that, I feel like Blink could possible tear a Sentinel apart easily with a few well placed portals.

That would take out a couple and then she would be overwhelmed.

Storm controls the freaking weather, she should have been able to take out the entire Sentinel fleet before there got anywhere near her.

Yeah I think Blink cant open a lot of portals at the same time. Look what happened during the final scene.

I found it very odd that Trask never mentioned the Kennedy assassination when he first tries to convince the head honchos to go ahead with his program. He mentions the Cuba crisis - which if I remember right is dismisssed as just rumours - but not the murder of an American president that even recluse like Charles knows about?

I haven't read any of the posts on this thread for obvious reasons but now that I've seen the movie...who's the white-haired CGI-looking mutant in the beginning of the movie? The one that sneaks in the Central Park concentration camp?

People are saying it's Cable, others Nate Grey.

She took out a couple of ships/carriers :cwink: , but I think she couldn't wipe them all out because they started deploying once the first 2 ships went down.

Trask didn't mention the Cuba crisis one of the congress member did.

I thought she could? The scene was in slow mo to show the viewer of the action happening, so I assume it was also to show that when under pressure, placing a portal in a bad spot can work in the enemy's favor instead.

Nate Grey is clearly shown in the altered future. And now I've just learned that its the same kid in the beginning.

There are bunch of Sentinels attacking her so it is really difficult to focus.

I don't know how far Storm's powers reach but a blizzard/hurricane/lightning storm while the ships were in transit should have taken them all out. Storm is essentially Thor without the strength and immortality.

Well if she took them out there wouldn't be anything to show :awesome:

You're absolutely right.
I bet in the first draft of this film the Kennedy Assassination was THE assassination that the movie was centred on stopping, but when they ultimately decided to shift to the 70's, they just created Trask as the new man to kill. Really who does the USA care more about - their president or some weapons manufacturer?

If Bink had better mastery over her powers should would have been able to open a gigantic portal and suck the entire Sentinel fleet into limbo.

The sentinels are so scared of the XMEN that they need to send a fleet just to destroy them.

In the comics 616 Blink took out a giant space robot monster by shredding reality and (iirc) a large ship with it. In AOA she could target her powers to stun or temporally shock a target, she knocked out Rogue this way.
