DC announces their new books and creators!

Why do you hate Harley?

I've never found anything appealing about the character whatsoever. She's just superfluous and inconsequential as hell to me.

The Joker works perfectly fine without a hanger on. On top of that she has the most irritating try hard personality in superhero comics. I also have always been kinda disturbed by the whole "dur isn't domestic violence and spousal abuse funny guys?" dynamic that she shares with The Joker in the stories that they appear in together. Even dating back to BTAS.

The only positive I could say is that at least it's a character that has brought outsiders into comic books.

Shame about Supergirl being canned too. Maybe it's being replaced/relaunched and it's part of some titles that have yet to be announced along Johns/Frank's new series.

I don't see Supergirl on the list. that book has been cancelled?? :(

I didn't even notice that Supergirl got cancelled. But I am sure it will "relaunch" with a new #1 with barely any changes.

Disappointed but not surprised by the lack of Batwoman. :(

Considering the TV series is more or less certain to be on next fall, I have serious doubts that we'll be without a Supergirl book for long.

Benjamin_Percy Twitter It's a reboot w/ a much darker, more literary aesthetic. True Detective w/ superheroes.

I still delusionally believe she's going to lead that Birds of Prey relaunch title...

Oh, if he's bringing to GA what he brought in Detective #35 and #36 then I'm so in.

Eh not as delusional as my hope that DC realizes they messed up and publishes the last two issues of Williams' run, even if out of continuity. :oldrazz:

So fans of the New 52 won't be totally alienated by this right?

It's still the New 52 Multiverse.

The only difference is they got rid of that toxic "New 52" branding that's on the cover of every ongoing book including the good ones.

Also they're going back to the Silver Age/Bronze Age approach. They're not getting in the way of the stories by forcing airtight continuity. Be it through the likes of unnecessary events that just mess with the writers flow or because of all the editorial mandates airtight continuity demands. They're giving the writers and artists more freedom to do what they're paid to do. No more "no you can't do this because we need it to be XYZ" type of stuff.

I'm very glad they're doing this. I have no problem with consistency but continuity is more of a burden than a gift when it's ran too strictly. Looking at the last 30 years of DC Comics you can kinda see that. It needs to be more loose. The people hungry for good comics are out there. Whether it's the hardcore collectors or new fans that are coming in through the internet, video games and comic book adaptations on TV and at the cinema. If DC doesn't find a way to cater to that audience they're toast because that audience will eventually morph into the next 2 generations of ongoing readers. That's also why Marvel Comics is doing what they're doing right now as well.

I suppose they finally realized this over at DC because a lot of their stories with the most acclaim from critical and sales stand points are not concerned with being canon (Ie: All-Star Superman, Sandman, The Dark Knight Returns) but could still be worked into canon if it needs to. Most old school DC fans have been asking for something like this again for over 4 years now.

The new Superman writer said the first arc is basically going to be Journey to the West.:woot:

I was hoping Convergence would....well..converge the characters but I guess not.

Birds of Prey needs to come back with a kickass creative team.

Fair enough. I like her fine. That's about all I can say. :oldrazz:

Count me in if it's as good as Lemire's run. I don't want it to be especially dark, but I could live with it.

We don't know yet. They probably don't want to jump the gun with announcements about titles that spin straight out of Convergence yet cause it hasn't even started. Keep in mind that some of the new comics they're about to put out starting in June are mini series and not ongoings.

Also there are 7 Earths in the multiverse that are unaccounted for so that anybody (writers and artists) could toy with them. Any of those could easily house continuities found on Brainiac's Blood Moon during Convergence.
