DC bringing back "The Titans"

Although Austen's run obviously wasn't as good as Winick's, Austen did probably do his best work on that title. Not really saying much, but it's something.

I'm reminded of that Barry Manilow clip from Family Guy, where the guys are sitting in a bar talking about how much Barry Manilow sucks. Then they say start naming off a ton of his songs that they like.

Everyone pretty much does that with Judd Winick. They say he sucks, but then name off different runs he had that were good. So maybe we think Winick is a good writer... at least for his first few arcs on a title.

All of the things I liked from him are from years past. I like stuff Jeph Loeb has written too, but that doesn't mean his more recent work hasn't mostly sucked.

I think his current arc in GA/BC is pretty good, now that I know it's going somewhere. I'm just afraid he's going to pull a "Cassandra Cain" on Connor.

I'm sorry but Dodger? couldn't Winick come up with a more creative name? :o

It's a nod to the old Artful Dodger from Oliver Twist! Just be glad it wasn't some dumbass 90s name like Vilebard or something.

I feel bad for Vic, he always seems to be the expendable; yet favorite one....i remember in Titan's Hunt his rocket ship exploded and then he was rebuilt to be a mindless drone with U.S.S.R. tech; then he was with alien race and then he lost his humanity; then he came back...stealing titans old and new.....collecting them....all because he wanted a sense of home.....which led up to the re-formation of the Titans which found out to be a 'jail-cell' for him in case he went berserk again by Batman's instructions to Nightwing.
Then he was the leader of his own titans...making his way and then what happens? He's dismantled again not once....but from the looks of it....twice again.

Poor Vic.

"Vilebard"? Is that even a word?

It's two words...
Vile
adjective, vil·er, vil·est.
1. wretchedly bad: a vile humor.
2. highly offensive, unpleasant, or objectionable: vile slander.
3. repulsive or disgusting, as to the senses or feelings: a vile odor.
4. morally debased, depraved, or despicable: vile deeds.
5. foul; filthy: vile language.
6. poor; wretched: vile workmanship.
7. of mean or low condition: a vile beggar.
8. menial; lowly: vile tasks.
9. degraded; ignominious: vile servitude.
10. of little value or account; paltry: a vile recompense.

Bard
1. (formerly) a person who composed and recited epic or heroic poems, often while playing the harp, lyre, or the like.
2. one of an ancient Celtic order of composers and reciters of poetry.
3. any poet.
4. the bard, William Shakespeare.

Vic is apparently DCs equivalent of Tigra.

I finally picked up this issue. I originally wasn't gonna pull it for budget reasons, but I'm so glad I did. This series looks like it could be good. I haven't been feeling the latest Titans arc, but seeing the chemistry between some of the older members is kickass. I especially love Roy which was the only reason I was picking of JLA (which I dropped for this) him and Nightwing have a great dynamic. The only thing that bugs me is that Trigon seems a little played out, but o well.

Anyone know if the recently resurrected Jericho will join the team?

Probably not. I think he's chilling in Match's head for the time being.

Damn, they brought him back and condemned him to a zombie body.:(

Hokay, Issue #2 and the new Titans title hasn't been cancelled. Let's run it down:

Churchill's art got better! He is now successfully drawing males well. OK, not awesome, but fun. I actually like his goofy interpretation of Beast Boy better than any other artistic iteration of the character that I've seen. Wally looks pretty fun too. Nightwing looks appropriately dark by comparison. However, Donna looks like the same two fashion models were swiped as references for almost every shot. The first two times you see her face are almost identical. So to sum up, his males look pretty damn good, but all his women except [blackout]Argent[/blackout] look like bimbos.

Trigon: Well, this reveal is an interesting twist. It's not just "Trigon's back!" It's [blackout]"Trigon's back, and he's practically a dessicated corpse!"[/blackout]

Writing: It feels a lot more like Good Winick than last issue's Bad Winick. The writing is fun and Titansy while maintaining the gravitas that I guess every story has to have these days.

Characterization: Well, I'm glad to see Cyborg felt the same way about Power Boy that I did. I was getting worried about his judgment. On an unrelated note, I must agree with Trigon's assessment of where Raven's personality has been going recently. "I had heard you'd come to adopt more of humanity's less urbane qualities. It's quite disgusting."

Ah, that's...a joke, yes? You're aware that the artist isn't Churchill?

Nope, my bad. Didn't even look at the credit. It's funny, I remember thinking, "I should really check, see if this is really Churchill, because it doesn't look like his art." Turns out I should have checked.

So is this any good?I'm looking to add more DC to my Comic list. While I'm here how's Outsiders?

Batman and the Outsiders isn't bad. I dropped it because Dixon showed me he doesn't know how to write Batgirl, much like everyone else writing comics today, and the stories were kind of boring. But with Checkmate now in the hands of the inimitably horrendous Bruce Jones, BatO may be the only place to get somewhat decent superhero espionage for a while.

Oh, and add Blue Beetle and Booster Gold to your comic list before BatO or Titans, if you haven't already.
Who was it?
What this guy said.

Benitez, I think. I don't feel like getting up and looking.

What's wrong with Dixon's Batgirl? The scene where she punked Thunder was probably the most gratifying Batgirl scene in two years.

It is Benitez and im kinda torn between the art, i dunno what it is honestly

He's writing her like the last year of her comic never happened. While Beechen took her way into some ****ed up, ******ed territory, Dixon's taken her too far back. She's not terrible, she just doesn't feel right.

Really, though, I dropped BatO more because it was just boring me than because of any issue with Batgirl.
