DC ELSEWORLDS: Reimagining Keaton Sequels & DC Films that Never Were

That's what I'm talking about!

The flying scene would be rad as hell, watching Diana go from TV super-jumps to big-screen wire-work to rival Superman all like "Yeah, she flies now."

tvu_RW.gif

04411f5b5f670ccdb57354dea260ed39d7ffa977.gifv

Another big one would be seeing Themiscyra and something like the young Diana opening.

ww84w2.jpg

I also had the idea of flashing back to WWII, since the TV show shifted the setting to present day after the first season in order to save money. This could play into the story as well; show Diana picking up one of her old cases in a plot that bridges the two eras. Lyle Waggoner would of course play both Steve and Steve Jr. and really show off how he makes the two characters distinct. Come to think of it, that'd be another way to reconfigure the body-switch idea.
1*_avr7o8M22vS26_RK7fW4g.jpeg

(While I was image searching, I learned that Waggoner almost landed Batman instead of Adam West. The hits just keep on coming.)

I could certainly see them creating a much more massive Themiscrya than the budget of the tv series , and it probably would have combine real sets and locations with mat paintings.

I could see wonder woman's home island, during the contest sequences, looking akin to some of these locations from 80s era films

I could also see Ursula Andress as Antiope to Cloris Leachman's Hippolyta

And I could see the actor who played Short Round from Indian Jones playing Maxwell's son

Lyle Waggoner was pretty close to being or first TV Batman

What's funny is that the bullets/bracelets effect...they pretty much nailed it the first time.

I imagine that the Aquaman, Flash, Wonder Woman, and Superman films all take place in the Burtonverse with alot of Batman hints and nods. :cwink:

As such, Burton would radically reinterpret the costumes in some cases, with the typical 90s tendency to have heroes all look similar to Keaton's Batman by wearing mostly armored black costumes as opposed to brighter colors of their comic book counterparts.:funny:.

I think of the aesthetic of tv and film Superhero properties from the 90s like this in terms of blacks, and greys in their suits

I like your idea of the cathedral like structures in Burtons Atlantis.:word:
I gotta think that's what Burton's Atlantis would look like.

As far as Van Dien and Ulrich go, it's totally 90s casting:funny:.
Van Dien was popular due to Starship Troopers and Ulrich had Scream , so they were both two "of the moment" guys briefly in the late 90s.

Casper had a brief role in Sleepy Hollow, so that would have been wear Burton thought of him for the role.

Maybe Burton is preparing for his own JL then :)

But if he's gonna do what you suggest - have all of them them wear black leather suits - it would take away most of the magic.
Singer made the early X-Men look like bikers. That would totally not work here.

Who's that in your third pic? He could pass for Ocean Master. :)

While your actor choices were much in demand during late 90s, they were also flavor of the month back then :)
In the case with Ulrich and Dien, they were also products of the time and they both lacked something that could have made their careers longer.

I too believe Burton would have gone all gothic with Atlantis. The Gotham of the sea.
Maybe change it into a nightmare realm with monsters straight out of hell?
You know what he did with Penguin, lol

Two of my pics disappeared. I want you to see them :)

I meant to use the X men and Nick Fury pics as examples of the trend at the time to have heroes dressed in black, but even still , you're correct ,that the " What If " Burton vision of Aquaman would take away alot of the magic from the characters myths.

Instead, it would be very much a mixture of the gothic , dark , fairly tale , type of tone that Burton likes combined with the trend of Black suited or armored heroes of the 1990s

I imagine that it would be one of those films that people would look back on now and ask "why didn't they just use the original costumes?" in addition to being the type of film in which people today would say , " That's very 1998" .

It would be one of those films that were very much identified with the moment in time they were made in , but would be considered dated in terms of the look , the casting, the music soundtrack , etc, to the 1990s.

Unfortunately I could see the pics that you posted.

So the guy who almost comes off as Ocean Master is actually a character called Mantis?
Never heard about him. Who's he??

I hope Burton would knew better than going all black and taking away the magic.
His Cage Supes had a suit with more vibrant colors, atleast.
But do you think he would have followed the 90s trend in the costume department?
Not making his own trends? :)

Lol, yes. There's a chance that people today will look back at the film, shake their heads, and ask what the studio and director were thinking.
Maybe Burton will step forward and say he's sorry for the mess of the film he did back then :O
Schumacher did!

However, it's not a bad thing per se to make a film that's typical for its own time. If it's good enough, it will survive the test of time and become timeless..
Look at T2, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, BTTF, Karate Kid etc etc
Some look more dated than others, like the cheesy Total Recall. But it's still held in high regards.

If the cast and soundtrack feel dated, but still have quality, it's not a failure at all :)
It would rather be pure nostalgia then. Something that people will look back at with fond memories.
But there are examples that never struck the right chords, not even during its own time.
Batman & Robin!!!! lol

Burton's Paradise Island

Burton doing a gothic Wonder Woman :)
I see that you have pics of black costumes :)

Geena Davis would kill it as WW. Such obvious actress.
Pullman will be a very good Steve.
I imagine O'Hara doing a hysterical Cheetah, lol

With Burton onboard and in full creative control, Paradise Island will have a very different meaning. ROFL

Glad you like it Airwings:yay:.

I also think O'Hara would be hysterical and would go big in terms of acting as Cheetah.:funny:

Geena Davis would have been a great WW. She had presence and stature, in addition to having the ability to be warm, wise, and noble.

It's also easy to believe her as a warrior . At the same time, I could see her playing her shy and reserved alter ego Diana Prince .

I could totally see Pullman's Steve having some good one liners much like Pine's Steve Rogers.
