Script
Set two years after the last film , Peter's life has changed dramatically since the cliffhanger ending of The Amazing Spider-Man.

With Mary Jane linked Billionaire Playboy Tony Stark , the odds of Peter and MJ getting back together have dimmed .

At the same time , he's moved back in with Aunt May after his living arrangement with Flash Thompson fell through over Spider-Man's true identity.

And with the Daily Bugle staff having scattered , Peter works at Columbia University, taking over the duties once held by his mentor Otto Octavius , who vanished, after his near fatal disfigurement .

However, Peter's old mentor and friend re-emerges two years later , now, as Doctor Octopus seeking vengeance against Adrian Toomes , as he begins his bid for Mayor .

Helping Ock are three of his former students : Football player Aleksei aka The Rhino, Kickboxer Angelia aka Stunner , and Otto's righthand tech expert , Carloyn Trainer .

Complicating matters, is Toome's daughter, Felicia , who soon presents a romantic alternate to Peter , whose spent two years trying to get over MJ.

Now , Peter must face a man he considered a father figure, while protecting a loathsome CEO , and his innocent daughter , all the while having to contend with Ock's former students, all of whom , Peter was friends with in the past.

The Producers want to play up The Luke vs Vader type vibes , as mentor and protege battle .

Otto has fallen from grace , and what is left is a criminal mastermind ,who knows Peter's true identity, his weaknesses, and his vulnerabilities .

But as Peter must come to terms with Doctor Octopus , MJ's new fling, Tony Stark, ironically takes an interest in Peter and becomes an unexpected ally.

Stark is played as a man who is more than meets the eye and who clearly has a few secrets of his own.

Stark who eventually buys the Bugle out from under Toomes , and by the end of the hints that he may know Peter's true identity .

By the end of the film, Ock is defeated and his rivarly with Spider-man is cemented , and though he still knows Spider-Man's true identity, he decides to keep it to himself , as a constant ace card he holds over Peter .

With Stark and Otto knowing Peter's secret, the hero ultimately confesses the truth to Mary Jane and Flash Thompson.

With the truth now out the door is left open for the Peter and MJ reconciling , while Peter and Flash bury the hatchet , while Flash comically comes to terms with being the biggest fan of a guy he's been rivals with since elementary school .

Toomes is ultimately exposed and ruined for his role in The Hobgoblin crime spree in the last film, and he is ultimately sent to jail along with Ock, while Felicia , though drawn to Peter , resents Spider-Man for ruining her father .

Directed by:
Mark Neveldine/Brian Taylor (Crank 1 & 2)

Plot:

Think Man Bites Dog meets Crank with a sprinkle of Guy Ritchie's early 2000s mob films.

When a sleazy documentary crew decides to follow Bullseye, the most despicable, foul-mouthed psychopath, on a journey across the London underworld hellscape, they get more than they bargained for. What begins as a cheap thrill spirals into a nightmare of ultraviolence and booze.

Bullseye lives for humiliation, chaos, and the obsession with the perfect kill. A coin flicked through an eyeball, a dart rammed into a jugular, a thrown card slit a neck; for him, murder isn’t business, it’s art.

But London fights back. A bounty is placed on his head, drawing out every washed-up gangster and psycho for hire, among them the schizophrenic femme fatale Typhoid Mary, the cold and calculated Maverick, and the over-the-top merc Foolkiller. Each one wants a piece of Bullseye, desperate for one last shot at glory.

Nightclubs turn into slaughterhouses. Football riots become target practice. Even high-society galas end up in bloodbaths. With the cameras rolling, the body count climbs, and Bullseye is ready to put on the greatest show of his life. The deeper the crew follows him, the more they realize they aren’t documenting a killer; they’re complicit in creating a monster.

THE UNCANNY X -MEN ( 1995)
Airdate : May 1995
Producer : Aaron Spelling
Screenplay : Darren Starr
1759546499979.jpeg

Project
With an X Men motion picture seemingly in limbo, and a popular animated series airing Saturday Morning, Legendary TV Producer Aaron Spelling offers to produce an X Men tv movie for The Fox Network.

Spelling becomes attracted to the property due to it's complicated relationships and dynamics , in addition to it's themes and scale.

Love triangles, ongoing feuds, and family legacies are inherit in Spelling's own properties such as Dynasty, Beverly Hills 90210, and Melrose Place , in addition to the producer being no stranger to action with Charlies Angels.

Without any objection from the film division, The Uncanny X Men gets the greenlight .
The 2 hour made for television movie would be unrelated to the animated series, even though most of the team featured in the cartoon would appear in the new film.

However, with Jubilee tied up in a Generation X Tv project , Kitty Pryde is used instead , and given Budget constraints , Beast is elbowed from the film.

I’ve revised my pitch for the third X-Men prequel film (which replaces X-Men: Apoclypse). Based on the existing film and season one of X-Men ‘97, this What-If pitch utilizes the timeline reset of DOFP to shift the X-Men franchise in a direction more closely resembling the comics while honoring the previous films’ lore—closing out the First Class trilogy while setting up stories for a potential sequel(s) including the trial of Magneto, Mystique’s Brotherhood of Mutants, Project: Wideawake, and the Phoenix Saga:

PLOT SCRIPTMENT

In 1984, MYSTIQUE and LOGAN infiltrate an underground mutant fight club in East Berlin run by ARCADE to liberate captive mutants—including KURT WAGNER and FRED DUKES, locked in combat inside an electrified cage.

After defeating Arcade and his men, Mystique and Logan escape with Kurt and head to CALIBAN, who can help secure safe passage and locate more mutants to rescue.

At Caliban’s hideout, they’re ambushed by Operation: Zero Tolerance (OZT) soldiers led by AGENT CARL DENTI. The soldiers transform into PRIME SENTINELS—cyborgs powered by nanotech. Logan fights them off until Kurt teleports the trio to safety.

Out of options, Mystique decides they must return to Westchester, New York, to warn Xavier of the growing threat.

At the X-Mansion, SCOTT SUMMERS, JEAN GREY, and ORORO MUNROE / STORM are upperclassmen at the bustling school filled with other mutants, including 13-year-old JAMIE MADROX.
  • Upon arriving in New York, Kurt and Storm quickly bond. Her rebellious, free-spirited nature encourages Kurt to embrace his powers and appearance more as she gives him a tour of the mansion.
  • Scott and Jean remain stuck in a “will they, won’t they” phase of their relationship while navigating their own growing pains—Scott learning to lead, Jean grappling with the full extent of her psychic abilities.
Meanwhile, ERIK LENSHERR / MAGNETO has abandoned his war against humanity and relocated to the remote island of Avalon—named after Arthurian legend and The Once and Future King. It’s a secret mutant haven populated by his acolytes, including FORGE, CALLISTO, and TOAD, inspired by his 1973 White House address.
  • PETER MAXIMOFF / QUICKSILVER also resides on Avalon, having reconciled with Magneto after learning he’s his father in the time since DOFP.
At the X-Mansion, Raven reunites with HANK McCOY / BEAST for the first time in over ten years.

Since 1973, Mystique and Logan have been hunted by WILLIAM STRYKER’s military task force. In winter 1979, Logan sacrificed himself so Mystique could escape. After he was captured, Logan was subjected to the Weapon X procedure, stripped of his free will, and transformed into a killing machine for Stryker. Eighteen months later, Mystique rescued him and freed his mind. They’ve since traveled the globe, freeing mutants from similar fates.

She chastises Beast for “hiding” in the X-Mansion with Charles away from what’s happening in the real world, despite what’s said on the news and in polite company.

Beast, who now lives freely in his blue furry form, has started seeing TRISH TILBY, a news anchor (and human)—who Mystique criticizes for glossing over real life for mutants beyond fluff pieces or pop culture buzz. Mystique realizes how different she and Beast have become since that beach in Cuba in 1962.

To investigate OZT and the Prime Sentinels, Xavier and Mystique (disguised as Raven) fly to Langley to meet MOIRA MACTAGGART, head of Mutant Affairs at the CIA. The nanotech Mystique describes is beyond CIA capabilities so Moira refers them to BOLIVAR TRASK, the world’s leading robotics expert. But he’s currently imprisoned in Magneto’s former cell beneath the Pentagon.
  • Moira has no memory of Xavier or Raven, due to Xavier erasing her memories in First Class—a decision Raven questions as they walk freely past psychically-frozen agents.
Storm convinces Kurt, Jean, and Scott to skip study hall and hit the mall. Meanwhile, Beast and Logan share an awkward moment—this Logan doesn’t remember meeting Beast in DOFP, a nod to the franchise’s tangled timeline.

Back from Langley, Xavier joins Mystique, Beast, and Logan in the subbasement to use Cerebro and psychically interrogate Trask. Like Moira, he has no answers.

Suddenly, Cerebro’s link to Trask is severed. Xavier, still connected, finds himself face-to-face on the astral-techno plane with BASTION—the mastermind behind OZT and the Prime Sentinels.

Through technopathy, Bastion reveals his origin:
  • Bastion is the human embodiment of NIMROD, the Sentinel leader from DOFP’s dark future. Nimrod detected Shadowcat’s temporal disruptions and mimicked its enemy’s tactic—traveling back in time to imprint itself into a human host before its erasure from existence.
Before Xavier can disconnect, Bastion activates sleeper Prime Sentinels worldwide—ordinary citizens infected with nanotech at anti-mutant rallies and hate group meetings.

Mutants are suddenly attacked across the globe—including at the X-Mansion and Avalon, now exposed through Cerebro.
  • At the mall, Scott, Jean, Storm, and Kurt evade Prime Sentinels amid panicked shoppers.
  • At the mansion, Beast, Mystique, and Logan defend Jamie and the students from an assault led by Trish Tilby, revealed as a Prime Sentinel.
  • On Avalon, Quicksilver defeats most of the invading Sentinels, led by Denti, but they calculate his trajectory mid-run and critically injure him.
Magneto, enraged by his son’s injuries and the sight of fallen mutants, flashes back to Auschwitz. He tears the invaders apart, then ascends into the atmosphere and unleashes a massive electromagnetic pulse—shutting down all Prime Sentinels and plunging the world into darkness, triggering global panic.

That night, the X-Men—Xavier, Mystique, Logan, Beast, Scott, Jean, Storm, and Kurt—regroup in the mansion’s subbasement:
  • The young X-Men grapple with the last 24 hours— Scott comforts Jean, while Storm simmers with anger, reminded of the traumas of her past.
  • Beast studies the nanites inside Trish, now sedated and powerless in the blackout, and discovers a way to reverse their effects and suppress Bastion’s technopathy.
After a vigil for the fallen, Magneto raises Avalon from the ocean, revealing a beehive-like fortress built with Forge’s engineering. He declares his intent to leave humanity behind. Avalon ascends into the upper atmosphere.

Later, Magneto descends upon the X-Mansion to offer the X-Men sanctuary:

“How many more of your bones will pave the way to Xavier’s future, where we simper like beggars for tolerance? Your professor’s dream is dead. So I offer a new one. A home to replace what they stole from us. A new Avalon. We are left with but two choices: cling to this dying world, or rise to your future and look down upon this fallen pigsty planet.”

Storm, disillusioned by humanity’s hatred toward mutants, decides to join him. She had looked up to Mystique as a hero ever since watching her stand up to President Nixon. Now, it’s her turn to take a stand for mutants.

In Washington D.C., PRESIDENT KIRBY meets with senior intelligence officials and advisors, including Moira and Stryker, when Magneto hijacks every screen across the globe with a broadcast inviting mutants to join him on Avalon. Stryker urges a swift response, but Moira warns against actions that could trigger a long-feared evolutionary war.

Inside the War Room, the X-Men split into two teams and board separate X-Jets (Beast has been busy in the subbasement since DOFP):
  • Xavier, Mystique, and Nightcrawler will infiltrate Avalon to persuade Magneto to reverse his electromagnetic pulse—or Xavier will be forced to hijack his mind.
  • Beast, Logan, Cyclops, and Jean will confront Bastion and his stockpile of advanced Sentinels, which he controls via technopathy from his citadel (its location discovered when Xavier and Bastion linked minds through Cerebro).
Before departing, Mystique and Beast wish each other luck. Once again, life pulls them apart—just as it did in Cuba and D.C.
Aboard Avalon, Kurt and Mystique battle Toad and Callisto. After defeating them, Kurt faces Storm, while Xavier and Mystique confront Magneto, who refuses to reverse the EMP. Mystique realizes Magneto and Xavier are alike—both choosing isolation over action by removing themselves from the world.

Kurt removes Magneto’s helmet, allowing Xavier to briefly enter his mind. But Mystique interrupts the process by striking Xavier, buying Beast’s team time to stop Bastion—knowing he’ll be unstoppable once power is restored.

But when Magneto pins Nightcrawler and Mystique with metal debris and begins crushing his helmet onto Xavier, Storm realizes this is now her moment to stand up for mutants like her hero Mystique and hits Magneto with a controlled lightning bolt.
To stop Bastion’s overwhelming Sentinels, Jean finally embraces her true power—manifesting as a psionic phoenix—and destroys the army. The team then flies to Avalon, where they find Magneto and Xavier still comatose and locked in a mental duel, debating ideologies over a game of chess.

With global power restored, Stryker convinces the President to authorize a missile strike on Avalon.

Bastion, having survived Jean’s assault, fuses his mangled body with Sentinel wreckage, transforming into an Ultra Prime Sentinel. He flies toward Avalon for a final assault—intending to destroy its gravitational core (built by Forge), causing it to crash into Earth. The machines will rebuild the world from its ashes.

After a relentless battle between Bastion and the X-Men, Scott steps up as a leader and orders the team to stand down; echoing Xavier’s teachings, they will not fight the future. Bastion mocks his idealism, claiming the future won’t remember the X-Men. Still, Scott offers peace but Bastion dies inside the gravitational core in his final failed attempt to stop the X-Men.

On the Astral Plane, Xavier and Magneto reach an emotional reconciliation. Magneto finally releases his anger against humanity over the loss of his family and embraces his new chosen family after Xavier’s words breakthrough to him:

“I know you think you've lost everything, but you haven't. You have your son, you have Raven... me, old friend. You have more family than you know…You didn’t have the chance to save your family before, but you do now. That's what I've come here to tell you.”

They awaken just in time for Magneto to halt the incoming missiles, mirroring the X-Men: First Class finale. As the world watches, Magneto releases the missiles into space—letting go of his anger and resentment. The world is saved.

On the ground, Magneto agrees to surrender and stand trial before five major military powers for his crimes against humanity. His decision stuns the X-Men, and Xavier pledges to help defend his old friend.

MONTAGE SEQUENCE:
  • News coverage shows the world beginning to rebuild. Trish Tilby recovers in a hospital room, now free of all Sentinel nanites.
  • In Washington D.C., Xavier meets with Moira and restores her memories—hinting at a possible romantic reconciliation in future sequels. Magneto is returned to his plastic prison, awaiting the trial of the century.
  • Elsewhere, Stryker oversees a team of military scientists examining the wreckage of an advanced Sentinel from Bastion’s citadel. Bolivar Trask, in handcuffs, is revealed to be among the scientists.
  • Jean and the X-Men begin to rebuild the X-Mansion while Beast oversees construction. Logan leaves for parts unknown, still having to make amends for his time spent as Stryker’s Wepaon X.
The montage ends with Mystique bidding farewell to Beast with a gentle kiss on the cheek. She leaves once again—this place is Xavier’s dream, not hers.

Inside the Danger Room, Beast initiates a training sequence for the X-Men: Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Nightcrawler. Xavier watches as the simulation begins and the circular doors close...

THE END.

Spider-Man / Peter Parker : Michael J Fox

Fox could consider playing Spider-Man fun but probably would not want to be in other huge movie, let alone likely multiple huge movie series, so soon after BttF especially if that also likely to get sequels.

Hobgoblin / Ned Leeds : Rutger Hauer

Hauer could be cool as both apparently decent but rival journalist and love interest and also actually evil villain though it would feel a little weird to try to have Hobboglin without having done, had Green Goblin and I think Ned really should have that active other/rival journalist role.

Kraven The Hunter : Arnold Swartzenegger

Arnold had weird reputation for kind of being mindless brute even though some specific parts, roles in his career even early were also quite respected like the Terminator (there he was really smart though also mindless LOL), not sure he would agree to play just one of the villains but I can see him wanting to play Kraven to both contrast with and further previous roles he played.

SPIDER-MAN : THE TV SERIES ( 1992-1996)

Hard but interesting to imagine characters like Scorpion, the Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, Sandman, Lizard being done with '90s TV special effects, special effects sure leaped a lot between 1992 and 2003.

View attachment 147954
Debra Whitman : Amanda Seyfried

She would definitely be a different kind of character and actress to have in superhero film, particularly odd to try to have her in fourth or fifth film but it could work especially with, despite Baker, it was also kind of a reboot, would definitely help convey Peter was in different phase of his life and I can see them gradually becoming more understanding and friendly.

SPIDER-MAN : THE MOTION PICTURE ( 1996)
Director : Steven Spielberg

Production History
With The Batman Franchise making millions at the box office, by the early 90s , Columbia Pictures is desperate to get a Spider-Man film off the big screen.

Though several filmmakers have been attached to the project over the years, in on way or another, they've all moved on .

However, in 1994, Columbia Pictures approaches Steven Spielberg to helm the project .
After smash hits such as Jurassic Park , Columbia feels the filmmaker has the right sensibilities to bring Marvel Comics most popular character to the big screen .

Spielberg is intrigued with the idea of making a film about a teenage hero but giving it the pomp and circumstance that Donner gave the first two Superman films .

Spielberg agrees to helm the project and enlists screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan to pen the script.
Lucasfilm agrees to work with Columbia in order to bring the FX heavy film to fruition .

The announcement of Spielberg's involvement brings the production positive buzz to a largely skeptical media and movie industry , in addition to approval , from the vocal fan community .

Spider-Man : The Motion Picture begins films in New York and Los Angeles in the Summer of 1995 for a Summer 1996 release date .

Screenplay
Spielberg and Kasdan both agree that the focus of the film should be Peter's journey into becoming Spiderman and his battle with his highschool science teacher and friend, Doctor Octopus.

While the idea of multiple villains is briefly entertained, ultimately , it's decided to narrow the focus of the film into a class of teacher and student as opposed to complicating the film with Spiderman battling multiple foes ala Batman Returns and Batman Forever .

Above all, Spielberg wants Spider-Man to be the driving force of the story as opposed to his villain being the central focus .

The Peter of the script would be 15 years old as opposed to a college aged student , a would focus on characters from the early Lee and Ditko comics .

Consiquently, characters like Mary Jane Watson, The Osborns, The Stacys, would be absent , and the young Parker would contend with his crush on Cheerleader Liz Allen , his rivalry with Flash Thompson, and his best friend Betty Brant , a teen intern at The Daily Bugle.

The film is a coming of age action, comedy and drama ,dealing with themes of love and loss, power and responsibility.

Casting
In casting the film , Spielberg does take a page from the Superman Franchise, in casting a lesser known in the lead role , while surrounding him with well known and respected actors .

The Cast

1761425171559.jpeg1761426332905.jpeg
Spider-Man / Peter Parker : Thomas Ian Nicholas

Though several young actors from Matthew Lawrence, Elijah Wood, to Joshua Jackson are considered for the role , Thomas Ian Nicholas is cast as the nerdy Peter Parker and wisecracking Spiderman.

Having headlined films in the past, and with his knack for humor, Spielberg feels he's the best fit to play the dual role .

Liz Allen : Arianna Richards

For the role of Liz Allen, Spielberg has the Jurassic Park actress at the top of his list , with Claire Danes also being considered for the role .

Betty Brant : Anna Chlumsky

The My Girl actress having led two major motion pictures is chosen for her sharp contrast to Richards , playing much more of a Lois Lane type of figure , whose Peter's only friend and who suspects that Peter and Spiderman are one in the same .

Doctor Octopus / Otto Octavius : Robin Williams

While actors as varied as Sam Neil, Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Lloyd , and Christopher Walken are all considered , Robin Williams expresses enthusiasm about taking on the role of the classic Spider-Man villain.

Columbia agrees and the actor is among the first to board the project .

Project History
With Spider-Man : The Motion Picture a smash hit in the Summer Of 1996, a sequel is inevitable .
However, due to other commitments , Spielberg declines to direct but stays on as the executive Producer .

In a surprising move , Richard Donner is announced as the sequel's director with a script by Lawrence Kasdan .

His wife , Lauren Shuler Donner boards the project as Producer , joining Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall .

Spider-Man : Part II , ultimately doesn't begin production until 1998 , with a Summer 1999 release date.

Script

When crafting a sequel to Spider-Man The Motion Picture, Donner and Kasdan both agree that the next film should place Peter as a College Freshman , having been Spiderman for a few years , and having faced off against several low level criminals , in the intervening years.

However, no other supervillain , has emerged in the years since he battled Doc Ock in the first film.

Unlike in the comics , Donner and Kasdan want to establish a world were Supervillains like Doc Ock are a rare and noteworthy , as opposed to routine and mundane .

So when a Supervillain appears , it's a major threat and a major event.

Thus, Spider-Man is truly a street level hero ,dealing with street level criminals and problems the vast majority of the time .

This relative peace , lulls Peter into a false sense of security as he begins to contemplate leading a normal life his Freshman year of College .

However , Peter's life is inevitably turned upside down , as The Green Goblin and The Vulture emerge , and after Peter begins a star crossed romance with the rich and rebellious Felicia Toomes , and faces off against her ex boyfriend , Harry Osborn.

Ultimately, In the operatic and emotional second chapter , Peter finds himself caught in a war between two families, with the rebellious beauty at it's center .

As two former friends turn to bitter enemies , Norman Osborn and Adrian Toomes feud plays itself out over the skies of New York with Spiderman and Peter Parker inevitably thrown into the battle .

As with The Empire Strikes Back, Kasdan pens a darker story than Spielberg's original coming of age romp .

Though Vulture is ultimately defeated and capture, The Goblin has disappeared , with Spiderman thinking he'd met his demise in their last encounter.

As Felicia grapples with her father's capture, Peter promises to support her through it and their relationship begins to cement itself with the possibility of something more long term.

However Kasdan's script plans to pull the rug out from under the audience.

The films third act pays homage to The Night Gwen Stacy Died , as The Goblin makes a desperate last act of revenge against Peter and The Vulture , as he kidnaps then kills Felicia Hardy after a battle with Spider-Man .

As in the comics , Spiderman and Green Goblin have a final , brutal confrontation, and it's only then ,
Goblin is unmasked as Norman Osborn .

Despite the tragedy, Peter continues to be Spiderman, now knowing that he can't walk away , and now with a determination to continue for both Felicia and Ben's Memory.

Felicia Toomes : Ali Larter

For the role of Felicia Toomes , Donner wants a contrast between cute ,High School girls that Betty and Liz were in the first film.

Instead , Donner wants a young actress whose conveys more of the qualities of a , independent, sexy young woman .

While Mena Suvari and Alicia Witt audition, Donner finds his Felicia in the up and coming actress Ali Larter who can convey toughness , sexiness, and vulnerability.

1762276854923.jpeg
Green Goblin / Norman Osborn : Mel Gibson

While Rumors swirl that Jack Nicholson will play the classic Marvel villain, Donner has only one actor in mind, Mel Gibson .

Having worked with him on The Lethal Weapon films and Maverick , Donner is intrigued with the idea of Gibson playing the charming and charismatic Norman and the crazy , and physically capable Green Goblin .

The casting is an outside the box choice which is met with a mixed reaction among online fans but considered a casting coup in the entertainment media.

4409-17221697.webp
1762279046362.jpeg
Vulture / Adrian Toomes : Gene Hackman

For the role of the Vulture, Donner wants another actor of equal stature to Gibson, but who could believably be a physical threat to both Gibson's Goblin and to Nichol's Spiderman .

In another outside the box casting , Gene Hackman is announced as The Vulture , with Hackman and Donner reuniting 20 years after working together on Superman 1 and 2.

Hackman's intensity in addition to his imposing figure presents a unique foil to both Gibson and Nichol's characters .

Unlike his more comedic take on Lex Luthor, the Vulture is played as a physical and relentless threat to be reckoned with .

1762277586616.jpeg
Harry Osborn : Shawn Hatosy

For the role of Harry Osborn , Donner wants an actor with the same intensity as Gibson.
At the same time , he goes away from the weaker more passive version of Harry Osborn in favor of a guy who could be both the Captain of the Football Team, and a future senator .

While Joshua Jackson and Ryan Phillipe are both considered for the part , Shawn Hatosy ultimately gets the role .

Like Ali Larter, he has an older look in contrast to Zachury Ty Bryan's Flash Thompson , from the first film.

J. Jonah Jameson : Tom Hanks

A secondary villain is the fictional Senator Pryde, Kitty's father who is a amalgamation of Senator Kelly and the recent creation of William Stryker .

As the fissure between Kitty and her Father intensifies, Xavier and Erik present two new possible father figures, with two new potential families .

Pretty sure Schumacher then would have wanted huge star John Travolta as either Wolverine or a young version of Magneto, he would probably also want Sylvester Stallone to play a big villain like Sabretooth or Juggernaut, as either could have interesting rivalry with Travolta (and Brown probably a little too intense for Schumacher). Agreed that Keifer Sutherland would be fitting and make big impact as Pyro. Ben Kinglsey as Xavier then would make really surprising but interesting follow-up to and similarities and contrasts with Gandhi.

Kitty Pryde's father being an anti-Mutant politician would be a big change but probably actually pretty liked by fans as a fine or good alternate version that was in line with the overall themes of the comics, really emphasize the angst of Kitty.

Script : Andrew Kevin Walker

While the original team from the first film returns, the Brotherhood returns , now being led by Mystique bringing along the Maximoff Twins and Juggernaut , all of whom seek revenge against Xavier .

However, the main villain of the piece is Mr. Sinister who has ties to Cyclops and
Jean Grey's past .

Story

When Professor X is shot by an unknown assassin. and is clinging to life , the team rallies to Xavier in his hour of need.

Yet as the divisions in the team, once suppressed by Xavier, begin to tear the X Men apart , the question still remains, who shot Professor X ?

Was it the children of Magento, seeking to Avenge their father's death in the first film ?

Was it Xavier's Step Brother Juggernaut whose been off the grid for years?

ROD SERLING PRESENTS : THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ( 1966)
Screenplay : Rod Serling and Charles Beaumont
1763704738213.webp

Telefilm history
With the growing popularity of Spider-Man in Marvel Comics, and with the announcement of a live action Batman TV series on ABC, CBS wants to develop a 90 minute , Spider-Man Tele-film for the Winter of 1966.

Though CBS wants recognizable names for the project, the budget would be severely limited in terms of costumes and FX .

Rod Serling , and fellow Twilight Zone writer Charles Beaumont, agrees ultimately to script the project , finding the Peter Parker character complex and not unlike several protagonists on episodes of The Twilight Zone .

The pilot is filmed entirely in New York with Desilu Productions ,agreeing to finance
the short Tele-film .

Screenplay
With the films budget largely going into the actors and location shooting, a famous rogue from Spider-Man's gallery is out of the question.

Instead , the Tele-film would be based largely off of the characters first appearance and comic origin , including the hard lessons Peter must learn about Power and Responsibility .

So, in this film, the villain would be the illusive burglar who kills Uncle Ben .

The film would feature Liz and Flash , with Peter's motivations largely stemming from winning her heart as Spider-Man, only for her character to turn out already harbor some feelings for Peter, in a Serling style irony .

Unlike in the comics however, Peter would receive his powers while in college as opposed to High School.

Also absent is J. Jonah Jameson and The Daily Bugle, with Serling and Beaumont feeling that the focus should stay on Peter learning his lesson about Power and Responsibility .

Serling feels that Throwing in Peter's job as a photographer for a newspaper , would distract from the character's journey in the film.

Hence, the Daily Bugle aspect from Spider-Man is dropped all together for the purposes of tightening the story.

The telefilm ends on a somber note, with Peter now making a vow to be Spider-Man , and ultimately, pushing Liz away, in order to keep her safe from what potential threats way lye on the horizon.

The Cast

Spider-Man/ Peter Parker : Tommy Kirk

While CBS execs want a leading man type for the role, Serling wants to go the opposite way , feeling the story is more impactful with an underdog than a Troy Donahue type .

Ultimately, Disney actor Tommy Kirk agrees to play the role , eager to take on the complexities of Peter Parker .

1763702677751.jpeg1763705756406.jpeg
Liz : Tuesday Weld

TV and Film actress Tuesday Weld signs on for the Tele-film to play the unattainable object of Peter's affections .
The role is written similar to the role she played in the CBS series, The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis .

Flash : Brian Avery

Character actor Brian Avery is cast as College Jock and Peter's rival Flash Thompson .

The Burglar : George Grizzard

Having appeared in a episodes of The Twilight Zone, Serling casts George Grizzard as the Burglar for his ability to play a complex antagonist .

Additionally Serling sees Grizzard as the opposite side of the coin from Kirk's Peter , and see's the Burglar character as a more complex antagoinist beyond just being a thug.

SPIDER-MAN RETURNS ( 1968)
Teleplay : Gene Roddenberry and Charles Beaumont
3ef648f2b3a041b0eb4e38fb4b82e17b.jpg

Production History
With the first telefilm being a ratings smash in late 1966 , CBS immoderately orders the production of a second telefilm .

However, Serling isn't interested in revisiting the character , seeing the story as a
" one and done " , as opposed to an ongoing saga.

Instead, Charles Beaumont returns , this time with Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry .

Tommy Kirk and Marsha Hunt are the only actors who return from the previous telefilm , with the production planning to introduce more of Spider-Man's supporting cast from the comics.

The budget would also be bigger than the first telefilm , with the next film set to be released in The Winter Of 1968 , with Desilu , once again producing the film.

Script

One of the complaints CBS received after the airing of the first telefilm was the lack of Spider-Man's rogues gallery .

After receiving hundreds of letters from fans of the comics demanding to see characters such as Electro, The Vulture, and Doctor Octopus, it's decided that the next film should include a villain from the comics.

While The Enforcers are briefly considered, Roddenberrry and Beamount air on the side of a more flamboyant villain in Mysterio who ends up framing Spiderman and turning the press and the public against the wall crawler .

This plotline allows the writers to include the Daily Bugle and Peter's attempts to get a job there.
The inclusion of the Bugle allows for the appearance of Jameson, Peter's blowhard of a boss, and Betty Brant, who in this version, would be more of a Lois Lane type reporter , and would serve as Peter's love interest .

While Peter would still be a college student , Flash and Liz would be absent from the film , without any mention of the characters .

ROD SERLING PRESENTS : THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ( 1966)
Screenplay : Rod Serling and Charles Beaumont
View attachment 154994

Liz : Tuesday Weld

TV and Film actress Tuesday Weld signs on for the Tele-film to play the unattainable object of Peter's affections .

SPIDER-MAN RETURNS ( 1968)
Teleplay : Gene Roddenberry and Charles Beaumont

Kingpin/ Wilson Fisk : Raymond Burr

George Stacy : Phil Carey

For the role of the no nonsense George Stacy, the producers want an actor who could physically go toe to toe with Burr's Kingpin.

Longtime film and TV vet, Phil Carey, is cast in the role of Captain Stacy.

Aunt May : Marsha Hunt
J. Jonah Jameson : Keenan Wynn

ROD SERLING PRESENTS : THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ( 1966)

I think Uncle Ben does feel at least a little inspired by Andy Griffith/Andy Taylor and/or both Ben and Andy Taylor inspired by same archetype.

Grizzard as the Burglar would be great in both seeming apparently pretty ordinary and being someone you would love to hate.
