DC to "Rebirth" in June - Part 1

Yeah that was weird, especially considering
this comes from the same guy who probably wants them to get married.

It felt so weird, i think the whole last pages felt out of place.

also considering they were OUT of costume. I hate it either way but it made even less sense in this context.

Lol. It probably is the obvious choice, its just the wording of that solicit made me think it might be someone he already knows. The whole being shocked to his core thing might just be learning what 'Mr. Oz' has been doing.

hah.

guess we'll find out soon enough.

Yeah, the last pages just felt so out of place to me.
Almost as if he added them in the last minute after the whole script was already finished.
Very weird.

I'm going to miss Rucka on Wonder Woman but I'm psyched for Robinson. His Starman run is my 2nd favorite in comics.

DC scoring Robinson back is huge for me. Starman is one of the best comics ever. That said, I don't quite understand some of the hate being thrown his way.

But hopefully this means that Robinson and DC are back on good terms, they finally finish reprinting TPB editions of the Starman omnibus books so I can start aggressively recommending it to everyone who'll listen, and that DC gives him the Justice Society and just leaves him alone.

I just finished Aquaman 25...and god damn do i have goosebumps.:hmr:
This was so good, i cant find words.

The Art, the dialogue, the premise...this will be so incredible fantastic.:hmr:

Right?! Although I hope

they don't try a love triangle with Dolphin. They need to stay as far away from that as possible :cmad:

That's just not how comics are done anymore, sadly.

I'm sure the WW books are hitting a huge sales bump because of the movie. So they might also be afraid to lock someone down long-term for two reason I can see.

1) Comics in general (but I think more DC) has their obsession with short-term sales boosts that come from new creative teams, new #1s, reboots, etc. They'd take those boosts away from their hot ticket character.
2) They couldn't use the book to lure new talent to the company that want to make their mark on the hot character

Is it though? What other dc books are going through so many creative teams within a year?

Yeah that was my first thought too and it would suck.
I always liked Mera/Arthur, but since the rebirth i became somewhat of a big shipper for them. :woot:

It would really suck to add some unecessary love triangle Drama to this good plot.
It would waste time and put the focus onto someting that the comic doesnt need.

To be fair, Shea Fontana and her artists were announced to be the fill-in team before Robinson and co. They only have a 5-issue arc (~1.5 month).

I'd love for Robinson to come back and tell us what Jack Knight has been up to all these years.

Well yeah but Robinson is only doing 6 issues.

****. I thought I would just read up on the 6 metal issues and be done with it, I thought it was going to be a self contained thing. Now I gotta read all those tie ins as well?

Yeah, I swear they made it sound like it was gonna be self contained, but clearly, that's not the case.

If i remember correctly, Scott Snyder said on his twitter that its a self contained 6 issue story.
Now we are at 25 with tie ins and stuff...well as long as its good, i dont really care for the length.

Is this serie a good way to be introduced to Aquaman?

I would say so. I just finished the first two volumes (Rebirth 1-15 or so) and as someone who has never really read Aquaman I'm loving it.

Aquaman has been amazing so I would recommend it to anyone.

I enjoyed Batman Beyond and Teen Titans today. WW was fantastic as well.

Should I pick up Aquaman from the start of Rebirth on? Or can I start with #25? It's still the same creative team entirely?

Pick up Geoff Johns' New 52 run.

The art team has changed since the beginning of rebirth. You don't have to pick up from the beginning but it's recommended! If you don't want to, you can easily start at 25!

Still working through my pulls for this week, but The Flash and Tec were both also.

Also, while not technically Rebirth-related, Batman/The Shadow #3 was amazing. Really loving that book and I'm super happy that it even exists.

Lets keep in mind that it stands at that issue amount over the course of nine months. In large-scale events of DC and Marvel past, they probably would've nailed this many tie-ins over 1-2 months, three tops.

As someone who mostly trade-waits, I'm not all that bothered. There'll probably be the main DC Metal (with The Casting and The Forge included, most likely), a collection of the Evil Batmen one-shots, and one for the Gotham Resistance stuff, with a few stray issues there that I can't peg down where they'd be put. I'd more peeved if it was like: Batman: Metal, The Flash: Metal, Aquaman: Metal, and on and on for a dozen different trades.

Id strongly recommend reading from start of Rebirth. At least the first arc. Then start at 25.

I think the Batman/Elmer Fudd comic might be my favorite DC book published all year.
