Why does everyone suddenly hate Geoff Johns now? I thought he was a well regarded among DC fans? Am I missing something? I'm just curious on what's the story behind this.

His work in comics speaks for itself. If granted more creative control its a fact that those movies would’ve had stronger stories. He’s written numerous Justice League and GL stories that are undeniably better than the stories for those movies

I'm noticing DC has an interestingly tumultous pattern with comic guys who end up on adaptations: Johns, Goyer, Guggenheim, Azzarello

If Warner’s got out of Berlanti and Johns way by letting film the original script for Green Lantern we would be finishing the GL trilogy by now. And let Berlanti direct in stead of Campbell

I'm fairly good with Johns, though he didnt seem to bring a lot to the DCEU given his position. But I am for sure done with Berlantis influence, he brings very mediocre talent bts to his superhero shows.

Still would have needed the right director though and Martin Campbell while certainly a good director was wrong for that film. It’s easy for people to say Berlanti would have done a better job but we don’t know that he would have. Does he even have any experience directing features?

If any one was to be chief architect of the DCEU it should have been Goyer. Just let him paint the broad strokes let others fill in the blanks.

Yeah. I got an email with a confirmation code and everything. If you didnt, you should check your spam/junk folder, because thats where my email ended up at first.

Yeah my preorder didn’t go threw so I’m going to have to wait till I get paid from work next week. I don’t preorder that much stuff so I thought they would take the money at launch. Am I wrong in assuming that.

75/12 = 6.25, which is about .25 cents more than I was willing to pay for this. I might still get it though, at least for a couple months, see if I use it.

Johns is the ****ing man.

Zack Snyder's painting ability speaks for itself. What it doesn't speak to is great filmmaking, and all we get are some great paintings, but all the things unique to the medium are so bad the entire film ends up "divisive" to put it nicely.


Johns is a GREAT comic book writer, but when he has to actually fill out what's between the panels, he sucks, and he sucks at changing the 'panels' to accommodate the fact that you can't hide movement or emotion or the passage of time in the white space. It's not his expertise, so he's not good at it.


Every project he's on stinks, and the contributions we can confirm he's had to those projects are attempts to port over what works in the highly self-referential comics world and they just don't make sense in live action. The more power he has, the worse it will get. I'm willing to give him a chance as a screenwriter on GLC, with others overseeing him, but unless he knows that he's not a pro at film just because he's a pro at comics, he's gonna crash and burn... again, with no one to hide behind, and with the entire GL mythos as tarnished as Cavill's Superman.
