Well, I remember they mentioned they were going to be a lot more stern about it at some point before the relaunch, but the position seems to have soften if what Didio said about OMAC was true.

That Animal Man cover is gruesome

Stormwatch looks fab and exciting as does Demon Knights and it sounds like both titles are going to be a lot of fun. And yay for more Body Doubles in Ressurection Man. After just one issue I already love Carmen and Bonnie

Voodoo is a title I'm still meh about. I'm giving it a couple more issues to wow me though

A Frankenstein/OMAC sounds like fun on a bun with fun sauce on top so I'll definitely be checking out that crossover

And Swamp Thing looks like its going to continue to be amazing

I'll probably pick up Justice League Dark on Wednesday. It's caught my interest.

I'll repeat it again-- if you're not buying Animal Man, you're wrong. The new origin's a little shaky, but #3's proof you can do world-changing stories without the "never be the same" tagline. And all of the characters are likable! Take that, everyone else!

Swamp Thing #3's great, too. I haven't dug all the world building in the last two issues; it wore on my patience. That said, this kicks the story into full gear with two really interesting characters, some clear objectives for Holland, and one of the most disturbing superpowers put to page. I like it. Just needs more of the actual Swamp Dude.

Damn Swamp Thing is great. Great job building up so far. Cool seeing Abby again and the twist involving her family as well as post-Swamp Thing life is intresting. Snyders building on the existing Swamp Thing mythology in a way that feels natural.

Lemire and Snyder need to show Peter Milligan how you write a proper horror comic because his JL Dark and Hellblazer have been meh.

Oh, no one needs to teach Milligan how to write anything. Not sure on his current work as much, but go back and read some of his early material, and you can see he's far from needed to be a pupil.

Though it hasn't been quite as great as Swamp Thing and Animal Man, I have been enjoying Milligan's work on Justice League Dark, and though I'm probably not hooked enough to keep buying it monthly, I have enjoyed what I've read of his Hellblazer run. But if there's any evidence for me that Milligan needs no help in writing great horror, it's the masterful Sub-Mariner: The Depths, one of the best - and most underrated - titles to come from Marvel in the past few years.

It seems like most of Milligan's work is underrated and/or overlooked. A shame, too, the guy really is one of the best, even if he has the occasional slip.

Is Xanadu a villain? I'm not sure. She seems to be, but I think the classic Xanadu was always a lot more of an ambiguous figure, and I'm getting that vibe here.

I too was surprised to see that Victor Ibanez did some fill-in work. It was very seamless until I saw his name on the last page. Looking over the pages, Paquette's layouts are far more angular while Ibanez's are more straight forward and horizontal. But when the strange stuff starts happening, I'd argue that it is practically seamless, right down to the heavy line work.

One thing I love about this issue is the retcons. They actually feel less like retcons than they do inserts. Abby having a connection to the rot? Yea. I'll buy it. Her not being able to hear it due to the closeness she shared with Alec as the Swamp Thing? Yea. I'll buy it. The addition of William. I don't know. But i'll take it. I wanna see how that's explained first because it doesn't logically make much sense, but this might be the result of the condensed time-line. I'm sure it'll be explained.

But the stuff with William...that's some heavy, disturbing stuff. Snyder has really outdone himself with this one. Batman is almost boring by comparison and American Vampire's eating the dust. The fact that those 2 books are also great speaks volumes about Swamp Thing. Don't even get me started on Severed.

Also, did you catch any of the other easter eggs? On page 6, third panel, the name on Abby's shotgun is Alcala as in Alfredo Alcala who also worked on Moore's Swamp Thing and then Veitch's run afterwards. And on page 17, the name on the back of Abby's pants: Yeates. As in Tom Yeates, who also worked as an illustrator on Swamp Thing, notably doing work on Alan Moore's first issue(Loose Ends) and Moore's last issue(Return of the Good Gumbo).

And I am loving Swamp Thing right now. Snyder is doing some fantastic stuff on this book and I'm loving the way the story is developing right now. I love that their not ignoring the characters past at Vertigo too

And I agree Animal Man has been amazing so far. I'm loving how Buddy and his supporting cast are being written right now
