Why are we even talking about what could have been Superman fans. I was hoping for a good movie but it blowed monkey chunks. Face it and you live better lives. D.M.C swept S.R under the rug.

Liked both movies, but I favor SR a little more. DMC was lacking, not as good as the first Pirates imo.

No. Just because the poll is dead locked it doenst mean a movie was bad.

Take a second and look throught the posts on this thread, true, there are some who feel both movies where very enjoyable, but for the most part, its pretty much split, and not only that, the folks who think DMC is better then SR generally think SR was terrible (like myself), and generally the people who like SR think DMC was terrible

they are two polar opposite movies though, so I can see where, and how the mega split in opinions has formed

it's a very mature comic by (i think) warren ellis. the movie has been trying to get off the ground for some time and now it looks like it may become an HBO series.

I didn't think Dead Man's Chest was terrible...

...there were just so many flaws that kept it from being a great movie. It was mrely mediocre, a decent enough way to waste an afternoon but not really worth watching a second time.

The fact that the formula seems to rip off Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan kind of bugs me, though.

See, I don't think so, but I would like to hear why you think they are

the reason I think they are polar opposites are, one, was a a movie that took itself way to seriously, more serious then even Batman Begins took itself, which for me at least sucked the fun out of Superman that the first two had

the other, a movie that my only complaint with it really is at times didn't take itself serious enough

I think they could have both been the same, great epics that had just enough summer fun to not be too pretentious, I think Superman tried way to hard to be an important meaningful movie and failed miserabley, and I don't think Pirates tried nearly hard enough, and went overboard with crowd pleasers and fanfare

I'm not a Pirates hater. I'm a DMC hater. DMC took everything great about the first movie and threw it out the window and took everything bad about the first film and made it the focus.

As someone stated- DMC was so over the top that it felt like a parody of the first film.

superman returns sucked ass easily. borefest and predictable. the addition of the kid really killed the entire movie.
