Deadpool 2 Deadpool 2 News and Discussion

Nothing is going on - they just have two conflicting reports. That's why I said Weintraub dropped the news, because others were on the same scoop.

My preference is for Drew, Joe, Rhett & Paul to all work together nobody should drop out.

So colliders wrong? CB.com reporting Joe's directing X-FORCE what's going on???

collider updated their story
Over the past few months, the original Deadpool writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have been hard at work trying to craft the sequel. They even gave me an update about it in the middle of last month which you can watch here. Since that time it’s been a bit quiet, but I’ve now learned someone new has been added to the mix: Drew Goddard. From what I’ve been told, Reese and Wernick are still extremely involved in the script and project but Goddard has been added as a consultant.

Alot of crossing over, planning and prep needs to be done for Deadpool 2 and X-Force so stoked those guys are involved. Both are solid.

Can Goddard also consult on X-Men too? Since he was in talks to direct Deadpool 2, I feel like he'd be a great candidate to handle the flagship X-Men.

I'll always dream of what his Daredevil could've been, but Fox should try to and snatch him up on X-Men.

That's a lot of talent right there. Leitch, Rheese and Wernick, Goddard, Carnahan. A lot to look forward too.

Well, I find Collider.com to be a bit more trustworthy.

What's happening is probably that at this point Joe Carnahan's a lock for the "X-Force" script, and MAY possibly direct the movie, but it's far from a done deal.

As for Drew Goddard joining "Deadpool 2", they probably all thought that an outside voice could bring something new to the table.

Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick are still on board.

Which is why I think that right now Fox is the studio to beat when it comes to comic book adaptations. They're the underdogs, but they had the balls to ultimately greenlight an R-rated Deadpool movie, leave the creative team alone and support and market it like a tentpole. Which they've backed up with Logan, which seems like it's another great movie. And now they've got all this talent lined up to bring these comic book properties to the big screen, and are doing it in the most organic, and movie-like way possible. Get great talent, let them do their thing.

They're not announcing a huge line-up until 2027 and forcing filmmakers onto their (story and creative) requests. They're getting people and giving them the time and resources to get it right.

In this day and age, I can only applaud such a (classic) way of making movies.

Yeah, two possibilities here. One, script rewrites are common and bringing in different writing teams is common. Movies are director-driven anyway and supplementing the writers with additional writers is not uncommon. It doesn't mean anyone is replaced.

Alternatively, Goddard and Carnahan were added because they're writing X-Force. They can start to figure out where that movie is going to go and can make sure the transition is smooth.

Overall, as much as we don't want to mess with the chemistry of the first movie, we're beyond that point. At this point, it doesn't hurt to add talent to the mix.

With their spin-offs, yes, but I think what a lot of folks would love is that we get a creative team for the main X-Men films and not Kinberg, but then, that news is for now just a rumor.

But as far as everything else between Deadpool, Logan, Legion, hopefully New Mutants, and so on...yes, it does feel as if Fox is slowly but finally diversifying and realizing that there's a treasure trove of content to mine for X-Men.

Fox has marvel films on their release callender but we don't know yet what they are though it's likely Deadool 2,new mutants, and supernova in 2018 and gambit or X-force in 2019 but they aren't going years in advance like disney/marvel and WB.

If carnahan is writing X-force now good chance X-force is coming inbetween deadpool 2 and 3.Carnahan could also be directing it too.

Drew Goddard may be consultant on Deadpool 2 to add his voice because he will do Deadpool 3.It's doudtful reynolds will allow for a solo deadpool film
another writer to take over.X-force is different beast however.

While things are certainly looking up for the X character spin-offs, X-Men proper is in its worst shape since TLS. They are looking at a first time director for X-Men 7, Gambit is in development hell and the series continuity remains a cluster-bleep. And FFINO, which was the exact opposite of "Get great talent, let them do their thing" was released just a year and a half ago.

With Wolverine, Deadpool and X-Force FOX certainly have a means to distinguish their films from the big budget offerings of WB and Disney. Lower budget, R rated offerings that have the potential to bring in moviegoers that don't care for traditional superhero films. But given the studio's extremely shaky track record regarding Marvel adaptations I am not quite ready to crown them the champ.

I must admit I was a bit worried when initially Rheese and Wernicke were reportedly off the movie. But now we know they aren't and that they have added Goddard and Carnahan to the mix it's all very exciting.

The only thing worrying me about the X-Franchise at the moment are Kinberg possibly directing Supernova which is a big no no for me.

Missteps can happen to anyone.

Time will tell. :cwink:

of course one you quoted is bashing X-men.Last stand killed a bunch of character while end of apocalypse showed promise for future.Especilly if they don't bring back Lawrence:cwink:

no fan of X-Men films aree xactly excited by prospects of giving Kinberg the director chair for Supernova but this is same studio that gambled on

first time drector for deadpool with r rating and star who didn't have much
luck at box office.as well as the gambles they are taking with Logan.

If Brosnan is cast as cable that's another gamble with him not having box office hit since he last played bond.

no fan likes idea of kinberg directing supernova.that film will have to prove the fandom wrong.

Are you doing the extremely cowardly "Block a poster and then criticize them through a third party" thing again? I've never, ever reported a fellow poster's behavior, but you are pushing it. Either ignore or engage. You don't get to do both.

Anyhoo, I don't care how many recast characters were standing around in awful costumes at the end of XMA. Unlike TLS, the film was both a critical AND financial disappointment. I doubt a first time director is going to get the series back on track.

He was actually my choice for Rick Flagg before the DCEU kicked off.
Hope it works out for him. I like him alot.

Weird though if he gets cast and they were reportedly arguing over Kyle Chandler. There star power seems about equal

David's on a bigger high now cause of Stranger Things.

The teaser is hilarious. :funny:

It is. And you can kinda see the visual style of the first John Wick coming through (the color palette is very similar). I wouldn't be surprised if DP Jonathan Sela has joined David Leitch once again on this.

I also loved how they had the True Romance theme in the latter part of the teaser.
