I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it'll be the first R-rated film to hit $1B WW, cuz Deadpool is universally loved.

I don't know if youre serious or not, but no way in hell Daredevil get's even close to 1B.

I really cant trolling if your joking or trolling or whatever

An R-Rated Daredevil probably would get to a billion. Deadpool, less likely.:woot:

Think this looks great but I'll be shocked if this makes $100M in the US. I just think it's very niche and marketed to just the fanboys.

Kingsman did $128 million. I expect Deadpool to play well with the same audiences, in addition to the fanboys.

Yeah, by now it should be pretty obvious this film isn't attracting only a niche audience. Deadpool is popular outside his comic readers. People like action and comedy, it's really as simple as that.

Have no idea if this will happen but long range forecast was predicted to be around 75m opening weekend.

That estimate is def high. Feb can have some good numbers though. 50 Shades, Hannibal, Lego Movie, Daredevil, Friday The 13th and Kinsgman all did solid.

If Ghost Rider made 45m awhile back in Feb I wouldn't think Deapdool should have a problem matching. I think we are looking at more 40-60m instead of 75m

I wonder if this movie does well it might help boost Xmen:A box office since the property will be hot similar to MCU.

Sorry, but if Kingsman and The Wolverine can each do $414 million world wide and almost $130 million in the states, then this should have no problem beating your number. Easily too.

I'm expecting great legs, especially if it's as quotable as it appears to be.

Apocalypse is coming off First Class and DOFP, which were widely praised, so I am not too worried for that one anyway. But if Deadpool is good and has a fun post credit teaser for Apocalypse, it could get some extra butts in theatre. ;)

It should! Even Daredevil and Ghost Rider earned more than $100 million in North America and I bet they didn't have as much hype as Deadpool (the movie) is getting now compare to the time that they were released.

I'm curious why you think it will do less than Kingsman.

Conservative estimate:

110 m DOM
300 m WW

Hopeful estimates:

140 m DOM
385 m WW

I think either would earn a sequel but the more the merrier of course.

200-250 million world wide would be an achievable yet fantastic target.

It's very hard at this stage to make an estimate. 180 million+ worldwide would be great.

Fox have been doing a great job promoting the movie.Plus they have the benefit of an IMAX release alongside the standard release.

Luc Besson's Lucy did a surprising 128m DOM and 463m WW. Kingsman did 128m DOM and 414m WW. This has all the right elements to be as big a hit, and I think it can possibly have an even bigger appeal for US audiences than the previously mentioned flicks.

Im surprised Kick-Ass made only 96m WW considering how popular that film is and this feels like its similar to that style of film. Kingsman did extremely well at getting 414m. Makes Deadpool very hard to predict, I shall leave it to those that know more I think.

Unknown character with an R rating and no real connection to existing movie universes (no one "has to see it" to keep up with a larger story).

I think the R rating and the fact that it's not connected to other real established universes hurts this bottom line more than most think. Still, $400 million WW would be an accomplishment.

I'm fairly optimistic. It all depends on how the audience will respond to this movie. Making this PG-13 would've probably made this more generic, and people would've thought of it as just another jokey Marvel character on the big screen. And it would've made the fact that he's a messed up merc, running around with guns and katanas, and hacking people to pieces pretty pointless, as you never could've dived 100% into that with a family-friendlier rating.

Deadpool's an old-school action character. You don't tone down John McClane's, Martin Riggs' and John Rambo's antics.

The movie cost $60m, by the way. It's much smaller than any other mainstream comic book adaptation released in the last decade.

P.S.: Unknown character isn't really problem. Unless you're making a sequel, you're working with unknown characters. Didn't stop any movie from being a success. It all comes down to how you sell that character, and if the movie's worth watching. As simple as that.
