400 mill is a sure thing. The aim now is 500 mill worldwide. The release schedule from now till B. V. S is very favorable. There is a chance.

I'm building a deck Friday after work and Saturday, so I'll see it Valentine's Day if my wife is willing or, for sure, Monday. I was trying to tell her that a deck is a great Valentine's Day gift, but she didn't seem to agree with my impeccable logic. I keep having these disturbing visions of an expensive lunch and champagne in my near future......

Some numbers...

Fox's DEADPOOL is already killing it overseas-- UK ($3.4M) OZ ($2.1M) FRA ($1.8M) TAI ($1.4M)--1 day totals are topping X-MEN: DOFP.

Jackman needs to work with this team before he bails. Hopefully Reynolds can persuade him and give the man his mask.

If they can line him up on X-Force alongside Reynolds and Cable that thing is gonna bank.

If domestic hits within or above expectations they should give Miller, Reynolds, Reese and Wernick everything that they have been pumping people up in interviews with regarding the franchise.

Deadpool 2 is already a go, so an R X-Force should be greenlit fairly quick.

Hopefully this gives them the confidence boost they need to move forward with other X-Men projects like X-Force.

Damn straight. Time to Rock & Roll.

Arriving in a big way this weekend, Fox's Deadpool will hit 3,558 theaters with its sights set on settling among the top ranks of R-rated comic book adaptation opening weekends. The list is currently topped by 2007's 300 with $70.8 million, followed by 2009's Watchmen with $55.2 million. The film is looking at something in the range of a $60-65 million three-day weekend and once you add Monday to the equation it could be pushing $75 million. Not exactly Fifty Shades of Grey numbers, but well above Ghost Rider's 2007 President's Day weekend opening of $52 million. Considering Deadpool is rated R and it's $58 million budget is just over half of what it cost to produce Ghost Rider, it's no surprise there are rumors of a sequel already being greenlit.

Deadpool's 3,558 theaters include 374 IMAX screens and 467 premium large format (PLF) screens and, like all of this weekend's new wide releases, it will begin screening tonight, Thursday, at 7 PM in what will probably be around 2,500 theaters. Fifty Shades kicked off its four-day weekend with $8.6 million in Thursday night previews, but another bar for comparison would be 22 Jump Street, which played in 2,746 theaters on Thursday night and brought in $5.5 million before opening with $57 million. Expect Deadpool to top that number and it's already performing very well overseas, bringing in over $12 million from seven early release markets.

In the UK, Deadpool brought in $3.4 million on its opening Wednesday, 142% higher than X-Men: Days of Future Past. In Australia it opened with $2.1 million, in France $1.8 million and another $1.4 million in Taiwan (plus $1.7 million from Monday and Tuesday sneaks), the biggest Fox opening day ever in that market. The film is opening in over 60 international markets this weekend.

...and from Deadline.

So far, Ryan Reynolds’ raunchy superhero is doing bang-up business for Fox with starts that are besting the studio’s own comp, X: Men Days Of Future Past, and in many cases, setting records. The total through Wednesday in seven markets was $12M. Industry estimates were calling the international weekend debut at about $50M-$60M earlier this week, but with numbers much higher than anticipated in Asia and Europe — and with all major territories save Korea, Italy, Spain and Japan releasing this frame — $80M is starting to look possible.

Goodness!

Deadpool really has become a pop culture icon!

I hope part 2 is a rated R X-Force. Reynolds as Deadpool, Munn as Psylocke, Jackman as Logan, Tom Hardy as Cable, and 2 other characters (maybe Wolfsbane and Warpath?).

After all these years of this film being stuck in development hell and being mangled by Gavin Hood and the old Fox establishment, to have it come and just sweep the world with Deadpool-mania, I'm fairly convinced that Ryan Reynolds can now move heaven and earth (with his creative team and Fox's marketing team of course), and that includes getting Hugh Jackman to not retire. Fox should be buying all the chicken Hugh needs to eat to get into shape in order to get him to come back.

Everyone on this film must be on cloud 9 right now. I'm seeing this tonight and after I'm out of it I'm wholly prepared to board the Ryan Reynolds-Tim Miller-Rhett Reese-Paul Wernick hype train for the sequel and spinoffs after this.

Good times for sure!

Domino and Siryn given their stronger connections to Cable and Deadpool. With Siryn depends if they go love interest in Deapdool2 but definitely need Neena.

X-23, Boom Boom, Rahne, Fantomex or Warpth would be great though. Have the feeling Betsy will be locked in Singer's films sadly.

Given this film's budget Fox looks like they are going to bank a big arse profit from this.

Is there a chance that Vanessa is going to be Copycat?

The writers confirmed that's something they would like to explore. I'll find the link...

Vanessa is a mutant in the comic book — as Copycat — but not in the movie. So why did you decide to take those powers from her?

Wernick: Well, the movie is called Deadpool, and because we were re-creating this character, we wanted to focus entirely on Deadpool, on Wade Wilson becoming Deadpool. There may be a moment in time, if we’re so lucky to make more of these movies, that Vanessa becomes Copycat and we see her evolve and her powers come to life.

Reese: And we have to make it make sense. I think comic logic and movie logic aren’t the same. There was a certain coincidental nature to this idea that she’s also a mutant after he was getting powers. So we thought we could find ways to add a logic to that down the road that we just didn’t feel like we could reasonably do easily and efficiently in this movie.

Should work as a nice plot twist to pit Wade against his Girlfriend if they choose to go that route. He doesn't find out she's a mutant in the books till post Workshop anyways.

Could have her causing trouble for Cable and crew like in New Mutants. With Wade caught in the middle.

If Fantomex is introduced in Gambit it could help kinda unite the present day films together. Not necessarily need to include Gambit himself, but acknowledge the other films.

Well, my local theater was doing good business in Thur night tickets tonight when I drove past.

I enjoyed it very much. :)

More than 600 million dollars.

If this does more than The Wolverine (which it sounds like it will), I fail to see the harm. I'm not advocating go full on hard core R, but a lot of the stuff changed seemed to be minor stuff. I think it would've been better received if the full ninja scene was preserved.
I actually think The Wolverine's uncut version is better. I'd love for them to really let him cut loose.

They're morons for sitting on this as long as they did. My theater was as packed as I've ever seen it so I know they're going to be pleased after this weekend.

That's nice to know. Thanks for the info.
