The thing is, Fox has nothing to do with this. They got lucky with talent, just like with Singer the first time around. Fox tries to sabotage this stuff, and they get saved by the likes of Singer, Vaughn and now with Tim Miller.
I never want to hear a reason why Wolverine can't be rated R again.
Oh Lord, no. Tom Rothman is long gone!
Fox did hire the talent did't they?Like what all the other studios do.
People have to give credit to Fox if this film happened. It was actually a Fox exec who worked on
X-Men: First Class who thought that Tim Miller was a great fit to direct the film, and set up a meeting between him and Reynolds. And the creative team have been repeating that the studio had some major cojones to greenlight it.
That's what studios usually do, when everything goes well. They hire the talent, and if they are on the same page they let the talent go off to make their film.
There's been a big change at the studio. We're not talking about the people who rushed
X-Men: The Last Stand into production, and who micro-managed the production of
X-Men Origins: Wolverine to the point where Gavin Hood had beef with the head over what color they should paint their set. If Tom Rothman was still at the helm, this version of
Deadpool would've never seen the light of the day.
The problems people have on the current
X-Men films is the problem they've always had. That they don't enjoy Bryan Singer's take on the franchise (opinions...), and not that Fox is ashamed respecting the source material.
The
Fantastic Four incident? S**t happens! They put a lot of trust in Josh Trank's vision, and it backfired.
At least they give their talent some freedom. Marvel Studios would've never allowed something as unique as
Deapdool to happen, because it would've had to fit in with the 'MCU.'
Give credit where credit's due.
