Deadpool Deadpool News and Discussion - Part 3

Yeah, that's probably when I'm going to start my Deadpool embargo until Feb. 18th (when it's released here).

They were saying Deadpool is a game changer for Superhero movies.

That term gets thrown around a lot these days. They say Guardians was a game-changer but what did it realistically change. This is the only other comedic superhero franchise really since then and the only one on the books for the next few years

Tim Miller denied T.J. Miller's statements about the Director's Cut at the Collider-IMAX Q&A, saying that "T.J. talks some s**t sometimes and that he's pretty happy with the theatrical cut."

You can watch the Q&A HERE.

Zavvi has already announced a UK Blu-ray Steelbook edition (the Blu-ray 3D logo on the spine is of course a mistake):

Way ahead of time!

Do want but the page cannot be found on the site and can't see it in search either

Seems like they blew their load too soon, so they took it down.

P.S.: Guardians of the Galaxy was about to hit theaters with major buzz when? And the Deadpool test footage leaked when? Also, David Ayer signed on to write and direct Suicide Squad one month after that movie's release. But who knows, maybe they are just coincidences. But if this hits big and studios start greenlighting several R-rated properties, I'd sure call it a game changer.

Rhett Reese mentioned this awhile back.

@JamesGunn Deadpool owes Guardians a huge debt. What a movie.

GOTG definitely helped open the door for other films.

Ah, that's cool. I didn't someone from the crew had actually talked about that.

Yeah, offbeat choices help other studios feel more confident with their success. I imagine Deadpool's success will not only help influence Fox's future films, but I think other studios will take notice.

No more PG-13 Robocop bs.

So guys, let's make this a success, unless we are all looking forward to a PG-13 Basic Instinct remake, as well. No excuses! I'm already planning to see it with my little brother (he's read the comics, watched movies like Lethal Weapon, Die Hard and the Terminator flicks - he's ready!) first and then with my friends.

It didn't change anything in the context of what Deadpool is bringing to the table.

GOTG opened the door to the cosmic side of CBM's, but DP is a whole different ball of wax with it being R-Rated, not to mention a character who constantly breaks the 4th wall and interacts with his audience. I can't freakin' wait to see it in all of its glory already.

GOTG was a risky property, and one that wasn't afraid to follow through with it's wild ideas and focus more on thieves, bounty hunters and assassins. Deadpool is brining his share of crazy now to the X-Men universe, along with being one of the prime anti-heros mercs in Marvel.

If your looking at it like it only brought cosmic stuff, your looking at it wrong. The more out there side of comics is now fully embraced by stiudios, smart ass gun wielding raccoons and all. Yes the R rating of Deadpool is on another level of brining something to the table, and will hopefully pave the way for future films. But Rhett Reese himself admitted to Deadpool owing GOTG a debt. And it's not for it's cosmic setting.

That films success no doubt gave other studios confidence in certain properties.

Sorry, still don't agree at all. While GOTG was quasi anti-hero, it was still light-hearted fare because all of these CBM's up to this point have been married to the PG-13 nature of packing in adults and kids alike. It's notoriety comes from being successful with a benign/eccentric property.

Deadpool is trying to be something COMPLETELY different from any of its CBM predecessors.

 plus something about being an obscure title.

That's a stretch. We've had R-rated humorously dark cbm's + energetic self-referential cbm's and just last year Kingsman did both.
Might be the first for an adapted Marvel superhero.

I saw the film tonight. That's about all I can say.

This movie will either be a hit like the original ROBOCOP movie,KINGSMEN,CONAN THE BARBARIAN,and the first 2 BLADE movies or an underperformer/flop like WATCHMEN and SNAKES ON A PLANE.

Got my ticket booked for Thursday at 12:30pm. SO F'N EXCITEEEEEEEEDDD.

You are not understanding my point at all. I'm not talking about how GOTG changed the game with it's rating. I'm talking about how a D list line up of characters who were marketed as being the *******s of the Marvel universe that included a raccoon and a tree managed to gross more then Captain America and X-Men in August. That didn't go ignored by other studios, Deadpool's writer flat out said "Deadpool owes Guardians a huge debt". They have been trying to make Deadpool for years. If GOTG failed you may have seen a more conventional list of comic films this year. That filmed helped motivate success with other properties.

I was just listening to a snippet of Ryan's interview on BBC Radio 1Xtra and he said they got through NINE Deadpool costumes.

Heard another interview where he talks about really wanting to have Death involved. Hopefully there is a way to get around the rights with some changes, cause that's a pretty big relationship.

That's all you can say because of the embargo and/or because you didn't like/love it?

I think it's because of the first you've said - there's an embargo until Saturday night/Sunday. Otherwise what would hold him back from saying he didn't like it?
