People keep thanking me for getting Deadpool made. I didn't get it made. YOU did. The internet put Fox in a hammerlock death-grip.
I'm fine if they have pg-13, as long as they use it. Deadpool breaks the 4th wall, so use it as a comedic opportunity. Just imagine it.What has me worried is that a guy from the Schmoes Know's podcast claimed that (director) Tim Miller himself told him that they reworked the script in order to aim a PG-13 rating, which is basically the reason why Fox finally gave in and greenlit the project. Which is quite dissapointing, if true.
Eh, they can shoot for both like The Wolverine did. With the Blu-ray being the unrated Cut.

*Shoots someone*
"Whoa, whoa, wait! Where's the blood? Where's the gore? His head was supposed to explode! F*&%ing pg-13. HEY! WHY DID YOU JUST BLEEP ME WHEN I SAID F*&$ING? You did it again! Stop it! Damn rating system. Oh, I can say damn? Well that's nice. Can I play with cute puppies too? I just want to make sure that's allowed."
Those 'unrated cuts' often feel tacked on, and aren't exactly the same thing as if they would really shoot for an R-rating. I don't need a cut in which they add CGI blood and include a few alternate takes in which the actors say 'f***' instead of 'damn.' Not the same thing at all.
Either go the whole nine yards and really aim for an R-rating, which means it's going to be tonally more mature and 'free,' and will use blood squibs, or don't bother.
Would feel like too much of a gimmick, I think.
Problem with that was that they cut the ninja fight entirely for the cinema version, which was one of the best scenes in the movie... I'd hate for the same to happen againThe Wolverine is a fascinating case study when you compare the two cuts. Obviously, the ninja fight with the snow plow was a big deal. But they made some real subtle changes as well. Blood on his claws and his claws actually popping through people he stabbed.

Basically you need to Scott Pilgrim it up.
I gotta read up on some Deadpool before this comes out. Any particular highlights I should read that'll give me the skinny on Deadpool?
A running gag would probably be him attempting to say the f word more than once by trying to write it down or get someone else to say it or whatever.
They should do it like how they did in the first episode of Sherlock Season 3.
Sherlock: F-
Watson: Cough!
And similar f-word sounding combinations.
And as far as the 4th wall thing goes, I wish they'd let him acknowledge the MCU in some capacity.
Yup. If you're going to embrace 4th wall breaking Deadpool, fully EMBRACE it. And that means don't shy away from topics that might upset people or the studio.
Deadpool wouldn't let it slide that he was forced into pg-13. And we all know that the comic fans aren't happy either, so make the best of both worlds and make fun of it. Trying to ignore the elephant in the room is the best way to draw unwanted attention to it. It's going to draw attention, it's a friggin elephant, so control the kind of attention it gets.
I'm not against Deadpool breaking the fourth wall. But it needs to be done in the right doses and lots of intelligence. They better not overdo it, because gimmicks isn't what Deadpool is all about.
There's much more to the character, and he's got a hell of a story, and there's space for some beautiful character development. And that should be the core of the movie.
In the best runs Deadpool doesn't spend the entire comic breaking the fourth wall and talking to the comic book writers. It happens once in a while, but mostly the best writers focused on telling stories.
