Deadpool can be anywhere from mid 80's to present day. I don't think it's essential to capture a time frame like the FC trilogy, and they can leave things ambiguous with regard to that. We know that we have a character from Russia, so Cold War elements or spy stuff is possible. Right now, who knows what they go for? I don't read any Deadpool to know what would be best to use for a cinematic take.

I know DOFP changed the timeline but the marketing for the film in that 25 moments thing accredited Colossus' mutation in birth to Chernobyl which happened in 1986, so I wonder if that will factor into when the film is set.

If colossus is indeed in film,let's remember THR once said flash would be In BVS and all indications are now flash's big screen introduction will be in Justice league,and recast the reason is more likely they didn't think Cudmore could handle a larger role if role is same size as leaked script.

Baby Collossus was disturbing, but yeah, that probably gives you a present day ball park, so the guy would be mid 20's, no more than 30. Plus Fox may want a younger guy that can join the X-Men later.

Producers of DoFP were responsible for much if not all of that. They could have left some things up to the imagination of the viral team, but I'm sure they had to get approval for any speculative timelines.

People are actually upset that Daniel Cudmore is being replaced? He was basically a mute in the movies he was in and, sorry for the bluntness but, he's a rather poor actor. If the role calls for more than a few lines it makes tons of sense to me and I doubt the majority of the audience will really even notice he's gone.

Good news in my book, I'd like to see Collossus be done properly for once and they'd need a much better actor for that. Also, count me among those that hope this movie takes place in the present or not too distant future. Never been that interested in the retro theme and it's already boring me in the X-Men movies.

I don't mind when this movie takes place but the fact they're building up a young X-Men team to (imo) move forward with in casting Cyclops, jean etc in Apocalypse means I'd rather Colossus somehow join up with them in later movies than this film be in the present for the sake of it. Unless they bring the 80s cast to the present or something

It's just a shame he really didn't get anything to do. He was in 3 Movies, and had at most 1-2 lines in each of them. And his biggest line had probably 4 words in it.

And now that Colossus finally gets a substantial role, he gets kicked to the curb. Just feel sorry for Cudmore.

Dude was discovered by Singer in a gym. Don't feel too bad, he's been very fortunate.

Truth of the matter is that Cudmore very likely doesn't have the chops for anything other than a strong-arm side character kind of role and the creative teams at Fox know this full well.

I'd much rather an actor deliver a character, than a character carry an actor. The CGI has made the character what he is anyway as he stands now.

Personally, I don't think that 'Deadpool' should be a period piece. It should just be set in present times. To hell with continuity. t:

They have recasted Gambit and now Colossus
However we dont know if Tatum will play a present Gambit or a young past Gambit

Anyway, guys. Cudmore himself said he couldn't comment just about a week ago. My guess is they tried to bring him back, but it didn't really work during the screen tests. If that's the case, can you blame them?

Has anyone ever seen Cudmore in anything other than the X-Men films? I've only ever seen him in these movies and he had like 5 lines across three films and ten years. Is it possible he's just not a strong enough actor to carry the increased role?

I think of it like Sabretooth in the first movie. They were fine casting a stuntman or wrestler because all Sabretooth did was snarl and punch people. It was a physical role that didn't require much speaking or emoting. But when they did that horrible Wolverine prequel where Sabretooth suddenly had a much greater role with a lot of dialogue, they cast a more proven actor to carry the part.

Sabertooth is a good example, although he was one offed. The fanboys have grown accustomed to Cudmore. Frankly, this looks like a stand alone film with Collossus serving potentially as some vague bridge to the X-Men franchise. They need to attract the larger X-Men fan base along with the Deadpool crazies to do decent business. They will want to reference the events of Deadpool in context with DoFP and any upcoming films, or at least provide a frame of reference. We really have no idea what takes place in the 40 years from Apocalypse to DoFP ending. Lots of gaps to fill.

If you think that's bad,there are people who went crazy when they had a new actor play Jason (hockey mask guy) when they made a sequel.And that guy was a mute,he had no lines at all,he didn't even show his face so I don't know why those people went mad over it.

Nessa but she's wasn't Copycat in the script. They did not go with her being a mutant as of now...

Yeah, more then likely the case. Could be a later plot line though, when they first meet she's not introduced as a mutant.
