Wow thats some impressive company its in now, the Avengers, Spiderman and BP, the best of the best and some real event movies in there.

Deadpool fully deserves its spot and isnt done yet, dont think it will catch BP but one Avengers movies is very much a possibility.

I am super happy about the box office for this film. Im planning to see it one more time in theaters. Maybe it will get a Labor Day extension. That would be a forth watch for me. very rewatchable film
Yeah, I enjoyed Alien Romulus last weekend but cant say I didnt feel a little jealous of those going into see D&W at the cinema, bank holiday here in the UK next weekend so planning get to see it one more time in the cinema and hopefully can get a nice little final dump for three day weekend.

I think Deadpool has a good chance of taking back the #1 spot this week. I was surprised at how empty Aliens was un ny area despite positive reviews while D&W was at 80 to 95% capacity. The crowd reaction was also insane and almost comparable to opening weekend.

Managed to sneak over expectations with over $30m domestic weekend.

If it grosses anywhere near that much, it means we have another great movie, which is a win for everyone.
Box office isn't an indication of quality though.

The first Joker, imo, wasn't a great movie. Deadpool & Wolverine the movie is fun, but not great either as well.

I think Joker 2 will beat it based on the first films performance. It will be a bit more front-loaded than the first, but the idea that it can roughly make 100m more in both NA and overseas, especially with inflation in 2024 and the theatrical experience seemingly back, its pretty easy to imagine. That puts it close to 1.3 billion right there.

Joker + Gaga, arguably the biggest pop star in the world still, with crazy loyal fans and certainly a bigger film footprint and talent than her comparables, I think it pushes this over the top. The people who don't go to comic book films in general will go to this, because its made for the festival circuit crowd as much as comic book fans. Plenty of Oscar buzz (and bait), which although not nearly as relevant as it was even 5 years ago to audiences, its still another aspect of marketing that will peak curiosity.

Doesn't necessarily mean we have another great movie. Just another popular one. Making a ton of money doesn't mean it's good. Otherwise, Age of Extinction was apparently amazing

Lady Gaga's popularity didn't help House of Gucci. Taylor Swift didn't save Cats either.

It's true, but her in this as Harley is the combo I'm looking at. Joker has pop culture relevance, so now add a pop star with the same traction over 15 years or so, that's something.

What is unpredictable is the musical aspect. I've seen alot of people online say how off-putting that is for them, which can't be ignored. I just wont underestimate it based on how the first one performed. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't beat Deadpool and Wolverine, but I do think it will be close at the very least.

If nothing else it will be an entertaining race to compare the two, box office wise at least, as quality is always a subjective matter. What we have heard about Joker 2 certainly sounds interesting and unique and will no doubt even be different from the wacky nature of even the Deadpool films.

I think the totals will be very close in the end.

Joker is also one of the most popular villains ever… I expect huge numbers for the sequel. The response to both trailers has been great

I don't think it will be as big as the original. A sequel sounds like a terrible idea.

There was a batinthesun video a couple years back of Deadpool vs Joker. That went right down to the end. Big assist from Domino ftw, but still.
