Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool & Wolverine Spoiler Thread

Its called inconsistencies.
I was going for more of an in movie explanation, then the obvious real world truth of the matter

just like we had an Angel in the 2000's then a different one in the 80's (both roughly the same age)

"real world" they just wanted to use the character again (as it fit the Apocalypse/ Horse men storyline)

in movie theory... as we see the flashbacks in X3 they show a young Jean (saying 20 years ago) then show a flashback of a young Warren (saying 10 years ago) this was not 10 years from the present, but, 10 years before Jeans flashback... setting it in the 70's

one theory is that in the original timeline Warren's Dad shortly after discovering his son was a mutant had him cryogenically frozen (like what Stryker did to his son) while he began to work on the cure (which is why he was still young in th 2000's of that timeline)

after DOFP {which was also in the 70's} changed that timeline, allowing Warren to escape his Father (and his Mutant prejudices) an never got frozen

was this in anyway, shape or form suggested or supported in the movies, NO... but, its fun to speculate and fill in the gaps yourself sometimes, not everything needs an on screen explanation

The thing is there's simply no in-movie explanation. The characters just overlapped. And Marvel Studios didn't bother to have several worlds/realities for Foxmovies. They just put them in 1 line to simplify things.

For me the timeline is just too messy I’m just going to go with whatever they say it is to fit their stories. IIRC, one of the X men movies established that you can go back to the past to change the present, which contradicts the MCU time travel theory.
MCU already contradicted itself in Ms Marvel.

Comic books makes even less sense so who cares.

To be fair, the only time travel we've gotten in the MCU is the quantum realm and Pym Tech. Its possible other methods of time travel could operate under different rules.

We also got it in Ms Marvel as I mentioned.

Except Loki season 2 also involved traveling to the past to change the present.

Well, I guess the mask was mostly practical! I have seen some comments (not on this forum) saying it was completely CGI. I didn't think it looked like it was, but sometimes CGI can look pretty great, so I wasn't 100% on it lol.

I think it was probably a combination of both. When he puts the mask on for the first time, I think there's def some CGI involved.

Rules of time travel inst the same in Foxverse and MCU thats why FoxX-men could never fit in MCU

But I notice since MCU integrated multiverse concept, it becomes more and more nonsense mostly with this X-menFox saga integrated!
3 first phases were coherents, Raimiverse, Webbverse, Venomverse OK they are tied to Multiverse MCU but Feige seems to be lost. He wants Deadpool from Fox to be in MCU so he has to bring whole X-menverse. t'makes now a big WTF

Looks like the same as Deadpools mask, 95% practical but some CGI stuff around the eye's for slight movements and subtle gestures to get the point across of the characters emotions.

Right. The fact that you can't really tell 100% if is CGI or not is enough for me.
I also appreciate having the mask in the back of the suit. The nano-helmets appearing from nowhere are an abomination.
I think I didn't write this anywhere, but I think they absolutely nailed Wolverine's mask. The size, the shape, the eyes, the material. I can't remember the last time I was so satisfied with a superhero depiction on screen.

Yes agreed and it made the moment by him slowly putting it on instead of it magically appearing, also it was nice to not have that weird visual of the actors head floating almost detached from his body, like it can appear sometimes for other costumes.

I think the last one that was as satisfying was probably Deadpool for me ironically. :funny:

They know because, besides a few design touches here and there, he has looked almost the same through all three movies. Which is rare. And refreshing.

Deadpool's costume is on par with Raimi's Spider-Man and Christopher Reeve's Superman and 2008 Iron Man for "this is just straight out of the comics and looks perfect" Mount Rushmore of superhero movie costumes.

Yeah, rarely see any comments about Deadpools suit these days, probably because they pretty much nailed it first time out and its barely changed over three movies which is rare these days.

It seemed a slightly brighter red this time and a few more gold bits and buckles but other than that basically the same.

So I finally saw this today— even though I freely spoiled myself on the cameos— and this is a Deadpool movie I could watch again. The main strength of this movie is Hugh Jackman and most of the cameos (Dafne Keen, Chris Evans and Channing Tatum particularly). The script is scattershot and overlong at times (not surprising since it has five credited writers)— but there’s a sense of fun and sly satire. The Deadpool-looking-for-Wolverine montage is hysterical and even describing it doesn’t do it justice.

But what made the movie work was that it carried over a key theme from Logan without undermining what came before (the opening title sequence notwithstanding). The scene with X-23 and Logan by the campfire makes the movie for me— as well as seeing Jackman in the yellow comic accurate suit. And even though his performance was written as comedic, Channing Tatum ain’t a bad Gambit.

The weakest part of the movie was Ryan Reynolds and Emma Corrin. Reynolds comes off as irritating and irrelevant as the first two movies, although a couple of zingers land. Emma Corrin was a bit underwhelming as Cassandra Nova, wanted to see them ham it up more.

The musical score by Rob Simonsen was a tad underwhelming, he only quotes Marco Beltrami’s Logan theme and Silvestri’s Avengers theme. Doesn’t use any of Ottman’s X-Men or Fantastic 4 motifs even though there was opportunity to do so. Although him utilizing the choral refrain of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” in the climatic sequence works well dramatically— and not in a comedic sense.

Interesting find, in the end credit scene on one of the TVs, you can see Channing Tatum's Gambit. I would post, but I don't think it's allowed. But iI saw it on twitter.

Did anyone else really like Tatum's Gambit? I can't say I'm a die hard fan of the character, my only exposure to him was from the Fox Kids X-Men cartoon. But he was pretty damn badass in his scenes.

I'll say this, I love how he looked and his action scenes but I could not see Gambit, all I saw was Channing Tatum. I don't know how to explain it.

One thing i forgot to look for, did Gambits eyes go pink at all? I know they werent in his intro scene, but didnt notice if they flared pink in the action scene…

Yeah they did a couple of times in the action sequence, I would hope in an X-Men film they would do it properly and they would be black and purple all the time, surely its not that hard to do with contacts/CGI.
