How hard is it to cast someone who has a decent acting range in the role of Superman and Clark Kent for crying out loud. Batman gets Bale, Spidey gets Tobey, and hell X-Men got a great ensemble cast, why can't Superman get the same treatment?

Welling may not be a great actor but he is great in his character. And he made alot of ppl (me included) believe in Superman again. If you don't like the current actors go watch the previous movies series with George Reeves and Christopher Reeve.

Cain gets a lot of beef, but I liked his Superman. I might have to throw in LnC tonight and relive the dream. I LOVE that show!

Welling is not Superman, so I don't think he should be counted. Yet, considering the live actors who have played the character in costume...the casting directors have done fairly well over the years.

Routh wasn't bad, though I'm curious about the fact he only had like five lines of total dialouge. I enjoyed Reeves and grew up on him. Reeve is supreme...obviously. And Cain was a good casting choice who played a wonderful Clark Kent.

I don't think it's that hard of a role. It's the stereotypying that comes afterwards that makes the role hard for the actor, IMO.

Welling is more Superman then Routh is without ever wearing the suit, and only on tv... Welling is this generations Superman.
Routh is the odd man out...

I whole-heartedly disagree. Welling has all the natural flare and charisma of a mailbox.

Welling is crap. Dean Cain played a decent Clark but his Superman was exactly like his Clark, that sucked.

Brandon does the job. Hes a second to Chris to me. He may surpass him if he puts on major weight/muscle for the sequel now that he has the time.

Except that ensemble didn't get to do much, when each of the three X-Men movies revolved entirely around Wolverine.

Yea but atleast Hugh Jackman is a good actor. I mean c'mon, Singer didn't even trust Routh to act in Returns.

Is this true? And IF it is true? Why did he get the role?

Steve

Because he resembled Christopher Reeve, the guy who played Superman in the movies that Returns was a sequel too.

I think/hope this is a rumor about Singer doesn't trust Routh.

For me Brandon was a very good Kal-el/Clark Kent/Superman!

Steve

Routh did a good job in my opinion in both personas. I have my gripes with some of his line deliveries but I thought his facial expressions were perfect.

Dean Cain did a good job as Clark Kent. His Superman was weak but that's not really his fault considering that he was playing a Clark Kent who was pretending to be Superman.

Welling does a good job as Young Clark Kent. I believe he still needs work in terms of facials and line deliveries, but he's come a long way since Season 1.

I can't believe there are people who bought into Routh, that amazes me, just simply amazes me.

Ive really come to understand that most of the Superman fans here aren't hard to please when it comes to acting ability, your more concerned with the physical look of an actor. It's ok that you care more about the look, but just admit it and don't try to act like Routh is a good actor.

That was kinda the point of the show.

Routh did a better job with superman than Reeve, Welling, and Cain put together.

I liked Routh as much as I liked Reeve, Alyn, and Reeves. I blame the writers for Routh's lines. I thought he did good with what he had. I am hoping the sequel will be better
