Deathstroke: Is he in Justice League? If so, who is playing him?

as much as i like Ron Perlman as hellboy, the dude just looks weird and i dont think he looks right as deathstroke

Ron Perlman isn't even an option as he is far too old and out of shape, casting him would essentially just be hiring him to do a voice over instead of just doing the logical thing and hiring someone who can do both the physical acting and the voice.

Deathstroke is meant to be a counterpart and dark reflection to Batman, so him being 10 years older works this concept well while also still doing the older man angle, while putting him 20 years older is just too much and loses the dark reflection element. This is all ignoring the out of universe consequences of getting someone as old as him and thereby limiting how long he can play the role.

To me he's not a counterpart and dark reflection of Batman at all, other than that they are both very competent fighters and strategists. With backup plans for backup plans.

Created to be one, and the elements of his character reflecting that what you think of the character doesn't change that and as such it should be cast accordingly.

I think part of my reason to want an older Deathstroke is because I want diversification among the Anti-Batmen. Bane is the Dark Barbarian to Batman's Dark Knight, so he's an equal peer with radically different tactics and philosophy. Prometheus and Wrath are full on Evil Counterparts, with the exact same origin placed in a morally opposing context and eerily similar mannerisms and iconography. Hush (and Black Mask) are direct inversions of Bruce Wayne. And Owlman is the literal mirror universe counterpart often identical but twisted and distorted.

So to me, Deathstroke has always taken a cue from being Anti-Batman-but-more, and Evil!Captain America, which is just as much a part of who he was created to be as the anti-Batman concept was. I mean, look at Slade's costume and origins: he's an American combat veteran enhanced by super-science wearing blue scale armor with a preference for antiquated close combat weapons. That's all Evil!Captain America much more than evil Batman.

And if you'll permit me to give you a sales pitch for making Deathstroke significantly older than Batman, here it goes:

An older Deathstroke still benefitting from his enhancements into what should be his twilight years is literally better than Batman is, making him a greater foe to Batman than even being a regular evil counterpart on steroids would be. This Batfleck is a 20 year veteran still in his prime for at least a little while more, but if you stack him up against a Deathstroke who's got 30-40 years of fighting under his belt and hits harder, faster, and recovers quicker thanks to steroids, than even the experience edge is lost and Batman is fully outclassed. Even his legend and psychological tactics are now challenged by someone who's simply racked up more victories.

Regular Deathstroke who's still roughly of Batman's generation is basically a more mercenary Bane. Older Deathstroke is a full on Titan God to Bruce's younger Olympian, larger, fiercer, and more primordial. Beating him takes on special significance then.

Age-wise, I think 50-55 is the oldest to go within reason. Actors pushing 60 to 65+, ehh... don't think that's necessarily the way to go, even if they could kill it.

Actually, scratch 50-55. Viggo Mortensen is as old as I would go and he's presently 58.

Thinking out of the box here a bit... How about Adrian Brody? He played a Slade-like character in Predators and kinda killed it. The movie was mediocre but he was good. I don't know; the guy could use a comeback and I think he might be able to do something interesting with the part.

Depends on how much string bean there can bulk up.

Adrian could be an awesome option, however it does indeed depend on how much mass he can and would be willing to put on.

Managed to put some muscle on for Predators but, yeah, Deathstroke is basically DC's Cap gone bad so whoever is cast should (in my book) be able to get to an Evans type level physically.

That is true, Brody's tough guy turn in Predators was surprising and well-played.

Personally, I liked Predators, it was a bit cheesy (not quite a B-movie, kind of an A minus movie) but the eclectic cast had reasonable chemistry - and Fishburne was convincingly crazy.

Still, I'm not sure Brody has the physicality - I mean, a lot of folks are keen on Ron Perlman, and while he has the look from the neck up he's too bulky to be Slade - who's strong and muscular, but in a Captain America sort of way - he needs to look like he can move fast. Perlman's convincing as a brawler, but not as a superhumanly gifted fighter.

Hmmmm...maybe in that sense Brody has a better physicality than Perlman.

Well, that's my take on it.

I enjoyed predators. And Brody did a great job. Better than I thought he would.

Seems like the only time Brody's not in a DTV movie these days, is when Wes Anderson calls him up.

I agree with people saying they should tap an actor with Evan's frame. Slade is an assassin. He just looks big sometimes because of the bandoleer and extra plating he uses when in a war zone.

When he's in somewhere like Metropolis or Gotham he looks like this:

If he takes a job in the horn of Africa he looks like this:

I still think it's Joe Mangniello

Still #ProbablyHasn'tBeenCast

I think Eric Bana would make an awesome Deathstroke personally. He is big enough to be physical match for Batfleck also.

The costume from the Twitter video looks dreadful. I presume this is just a costume test of some sort?

While I still think Joe is perfect, I would love to see Bana as Stroke as I've been a fan of his ever since Hulk.
