TheSlag said:Nit-picking is wanting the effects to be great as opposed to so-so? Then I could say the other side is nit-picking, or stretching when they say it's FANtastic. If he disposes of Spidey, he can make his get away. I would rather see Sandy's powers, by smashing the Armored Car off the road as opposed to the out of control armored car being driven into other cars. It just makes for much better "Must See" TV...errr.. movie.
And a surfin Spidey on a car door SCREAMS Cheese to me... it DOES NOT scream Spidey agility to me.
But hey... you guys love it. Good for you. I was hoping for a more serious approach to the legend that is Spider-Man, one that pays tribute to the many classic storylines that have been told in the comics, NOT this tribute to the Saturday morning cartoon version of the hero (COWABUNGA DUDE)...
Hopefully, this one sceen, cheese and ALL is not indictive of the overall approach to the movie, especially given the cheesy (powerwise and storywise) villain they selected, AND the regulation of Venom to a mere cameo if the rumors are true.![]()
And IF Harry's costume does come off as "Lord of the Snow" (LOL.. thanks V4Life)... and if his story takes second fiddle to ole Sandy... this movie and franchise is headed in the wrong direction.
How can you argue about effects or the story when you haven't seen them? You're jumping to conclusions about the scene in general because the character did something you don't want him to. You're arguing action over story. You can't then go back and claim that this one action will hurt the story.
You keep saying the scene will be cheesy without anything to back up your claim. As far as I can see he's actually doing something very logical when stealing, trying to get away with the money.
You're worried about Spider agility? What about swinging after a speeding truck, trying to land on it (assuming it's still moving), avoiding Sandman who may use his powers to stop Spidey as well as crashing the van. Spidey will have to avoid getting injured in the crash, possibly help pedestrians and then I expect that he will be forced to take Sandman on in the middle of the street.
As for GG2 and Venom, I have to agree. I hope that it isn't as rumoured either.
Edit: Just thought about what you said about the other side nit-picking. You are right. There are some here who are going to blindly say everythng's cool, but as long as both the for and against camps can debate things properly then hopefuly others will think about using this method. Who knows?
Though I don't happen to consider myself one of them as I try to make my assumptions based on what I know and I'm not going to support a movie if it turns out bad. I'm optimistic from liking the first two but if the Q&A's are to be believed then I've something to fear.
