1) She did state her reasons
2) Keep in Mind that YOU have NOT seen the finished product EITHER... and yet you and others think it's going to be a GREAT scene

I love how those who make a negative comment suddenly have to explain themselves to others because of it,or they shouldn't be posting in here if they can't say anything but positive things

Nobody has seen nothing yet.So it's open game for this scene to be good or bad. It's all opinion.

A good 95% of everything on this board is like listening to Charlie Brown's teacher, God, I miss the old days...

Everyone seems to be so excited now. I'm still thinking that we don't have much yet to go from. So I understand what Powder-man meant. I don't mean anything against you, Symbotica, you did list reasons like you said. But I mean in general. There's a lot of people who are making opinions without seeing the finished product.

I'll use this scene as an example though....It does look rather plain when you look at what Sandman is doing. But when you look at all the work being done, it's actually very exciting. There's a huge car chase scene, cars and getting obliterated and the armored truck doesn't even stop until it crashes into a trash truck. Meanwhile Sandman and Spider-man are doing various acts.

The alleyway looks kind of lame. Just a guy laying there. But we have to consider that it's just a fraction of a frame of a scene.

The black costume seems kind of bland, being a simple pallet swap of the red and blues. But at the same time we don't know what happens next or why he gets it.

The bell just wrung so I have to go to 2nd period class.....So I'll get back to this later, but all i'm saying is that nothing is finished and nothing is certain so no one can have a truthfully just statement rather it's good or bad. I can say the scene rocks and it may suck. Or I can say it'll be bland but it could be the most exciting scene.

As Slag stated above, I have stated numerous times exactly what I hold to be wrong with what we know so far. Many times. In fact I'd bet that my rationales are probably known by just about everyone who comes in here, they've been repeated so much. :) So.... I don't feel I have to take the time to write a footnoted term-paper on why I feel the way I do, every time I reply to someone else's [often rude] post.

But one more time! Just so no one can complain: why do I think this is cheesy?

1. That one-man-army GG rounds a skyscraper to mount an attack on Times Square during some stupid feel-good festival: chills of excitement. At least we get to see him! And when he gets there, he does not disappoint. "OUT, AM I?!" Hell no, Norman you'll never be "out", good villains are hard to find - fire at will. :bomb: Later on he completely wrecks JJJ's office and nearly chokes him to death for good measure. Stylin'.

2. Doctor Octopus tosses safe-doors, terrorizes old women, throws Spidey off a skyscraper and then tops that by trying to kill everyone on a commuter-train. Then when the train finally gets stopped he owns every passenger in the front car, smacks Spidey around some more for good measure and then abducts him. Go, Otto.

3. Sandman crashes an armored car and then dissolves himself, filling the cab of the truck with sand. I find that less than thrilling: I must not be a real fan. I must be one'a them "man-spider" people or something.
WTF, you're naming various things that GG and Ock did, because YOU (we've) seen the entire movie, with Sandman this is not the case, we're only seeing a scene based on a few minutes of screentime and at the end of it, Sandman and Spidey do fight as reported. You're comparing a few seconds of villain footage (few minutes of screentime)--to villains in an entire 2 hour/+ movie. We don't know what's going to happen next, in other scenes with Spider-Man and Sandman or anyone else. Why, because we haven't seen the entire movie?

im pretty sure spidey's going to be surfing a wave of sand being blasted at him from the truck.

I thought it was supposed to be him surfing on a car door?

I seem to remember Spider-Man surfing on his back in SM2, it didn't turn out cheesy to these eyes. Of course, he should have had a very bloody back.

I 've watched these boards for a long time and have just recently started posting. I' ve noticed that Symbiotica, Doc Ock, and Slag always seem to post in favor of one another. Why is this? They seem to set themselves apart on every issue.

PS: If you find yourself taking anything those three post serious, find the nearest tall building and jump.

It's the clique. They back each other up even when they are wrong. Doc Ock is cool though.

Why is it? Because these persons and myself have one thing that sets us apart from 95% of everyone else in here: we demand actual quality in our entertainment.

Just about everyone else is all "...eh... it's Sam and I love Sam, so he can do no wrong. Cast Whoopie Goldberg as Venom?! ZOMG!!!!!!!!!111111oneoneone1111! KEWL!"

We demand more. And we don't apologise for that, either.

How bout you accept that other people can enjoy something you don't?

Deal?

Maybe because we share the same opinions about the movies perhaps?? Shocking that there are people out there who don't like every single thing about the movies isn't it

What is this clique nonsense?? I don't back anyone up that I disagree with.Whether I like them or not.

I can't say Symbiotica and Slag are wrong about this Sandman scene looking cheesy, because they've made valid points that suggest it could be.I can't say it won't be cheesy either because I haven't seen the finished product yet.

What I am backing them on is their right to say they think it looks cheesy and lame to them, without people jumping down their throats over it.

Oh they can think it will be cheesy. That's not the problem!

''we demand actual quality in our entertainment.''

That's problematic. It's okay to think it will be cheesy but it's wrong to think it'll be good.

If this bickering doesn't stop soon I'll be closing the thread and banning the lot of you.

Final warning...

...........what???

Art thou being sarcastic or serious here.I cannot tell :O

Read her post again. It's okay to bash the films and the people who like it are babbling fools according to her.

So it's okay to complain but liking it is wrong?

You know, this whining gets really old.

I do not like what I see so far; god, some people need to pop a Valium or two over the issue, evidently. If you like it, fine. That does not mean I'm required to endorse your choice.

I don't see where she said that. Can you quote it for me?? What I read was that she said myself,Slag and herself demand quality in our entertainment, and we don't like everything Sam Raimi gives us in these movies.

So it's okay to complain but liking it is wrong?

It's ok to do both.I love the movies, but they've got their fair share of flaws. And not everyone here over looks them.

I don't like the casting choice of Topher Grace as Brock.I don't like that Gwen Stacy has been brought in at this very late stage.I don't like that Sandman is our main villain, when we could have had Electro or the Lizard.

But as a Spidey fan I'm still going to see how this turns out,and hope Sam can relieve my fears about what he's doing.

Why? Maybe because we all have EXCELLENT tastes, and opinions. And know our Spider-Man, unlike some others I could mention. ;)

Now, all kidding aside. Me and Sym disagree on some things, and that's fine. The POINT is, we DON'T ALL have to walk in lock step together to respect each other, and their opinions.

Sym does NOT like Topher as Brock/Venom. Something I can agree with in principle, but I'm willing to give him a chance. I understand WHY she does not like him as Brock, as it's a bastardization of the classic character. And I appreciate her feelings. The character is that important to her. I admire her for that. IT'S HER OPINION. It does NOT dismean me or anyone else.

And I'm sure if me and Doc sat down and discussed our opinions on all that is Spider-Man... we would find differences too. Again, I doubt VERY seriously it would diminish my respect for him as a poster.

BUT... "some" people have to look for a reason. Again, please NOTE... I did not name ANYONE in particular. ;)

And as far as jumping off anything... WHY DON'T YOU JUMP OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE.

Ohhh man... you're just killin me here. Like I care IF you think it's a clique. If it's a clique, it's one I'm proud to me a member of. Although I don't see us purposely excluding ANYONE.

When did we say we COULD NOT accept it? Mr. Smuck Dealer??? *Deal* Give me a break and grow up. Just because we have opinions that differ from theirs does not mean we can't accept that it's their opinion. I see most of the NON acceptance coming from the other side... the PRO RAIMI's and their outrage that how dare us be "negative" (In their opinion)... critical (in my opinion).
