Simply knowing Mewtwo is in the movie ain't a spoiler when we already know there's dozens of Pokemon featured.

It may be a confirmation that Mew Two is the villain of the movie with him being in it.

It could be with the main plot being concerned with solving a mystery. In the context of the movie, Mew Two might not even show up until the third act. It's possible that the twist for for what made Tim's father disappear was that he discovered the creation of Mew Two.
