Detective Pikachu

It totally doesn't work for me. Ryan is just using his normal speaking voice never mind that he's supposed to voice a Pokemon, Pikachu. They are definitely cashing on Ryan Reynolds and imo, it's a disservice to Pikachu.

Like look at Meowth in the anime, he sounds like a talking cat.

Wow ok. Getting vibes of the 90s super Mario movie from this. I wonder why they decided to go that way? I would have done a traditional Pokémon movie, one that’s as close to the game as possible and then subverted it with detective pikachu.

But you never know, this might work out. It kind of has a “who killed roger rabbit” vibe about it

In what way is this like the 90s Super Mario movie?

On Reynolds. I didn't think his voice would work, but it really worked in the trailer for me. I was surprised how much I like it.

I am a bit worried about the CGI. Pikachu looks great imo. The rest don't look nearly as finished. I hope they will be working on the CGI before the release.

If this fails, then they should probably stick to a more traditional movie like with an actual Pokemon trainer going to gym battles as the main storyline and just catching them all.

And I watched the trailer again, but I don't like the Pikachu here. It's like an old man stuck in a Pikachu. Just off putting. I guess this would be another bad Ryan Reynold flick.

Well in the Game he didn't sound like Pikachu at all either. He had a deep sounding voice. IMO they should've stuck with Danny Devito but the voice doesn't bother me. As for Meowth he leared to talk inand everybody could understand him. In this movie it looks like Only Justice Smith and other pokemon can understand what Pikachu is saying.

That rendition of the Gamboy music at the beginning of the trailer:hrt::hrt::hrt:

Well for me as German it doesn't Matter if Its Ryan or any Else because the Movie gets Complete Translate here , and Ryans German Voice or Syny Speaker
Dennis Schmidt-Foß sounds way way Better as his Originial Voice haha

I think going to 7 gyms would be quite repetitive for a single movie and if they feature the tournament towards at the end, it would be too much. And of course, we have to see the trainer, catch and train Pokemons which would take time. Something like that would take a couple of films, which I wouldn't mind.

Here it seems like they went with a simpler story which is fine but a journey of a wannabe Pokemon master would have appealed to me more and I wish they didn't have Pikachu talking in human voice. Also it looks like it won't just be gen 1 pokemons. But possibly six generations?

His "real" voice shouldnt sound like a pikachu. That's the whole point. It's meant to be a contrast and part of the character's situation. He sees himself as a serious minded investigator stuck in the body of a cute cuddly furry pokemon, and every time he tries to express himself in a serious way the only thing people hear is a high pitched "pika pika". Its also meant to be ironic. Like a 500 pound man being nicknamed Tiny.

I couldn't imagine having to listen to someone play all cutesy and ''Pika Pika'' every time they were on screen. It would get old real fast.

The Reynolds option was way better.

While I think the Reynolds is option is definitely odd I am actually interested.

I didn’t want a cutesy voice either. It just literally sounds like Ryan Reynolds using his Deadpool voice. I know plenty of other name actors who have done animated films and I didn’t even realize it was them until after. Heck look at the Grinch with Cumberbatch.

Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool voice is his regular voice, which is the same voice he has used throughout his career.

Yea I rather Pikachu didn't talk.... Groot didn't talk and look how many people love him

But the Pokemon all look great. I'll reserve judgement of the film till I see it

Good trailer. The issue with the voice also bothered me a bit.

Well to be that nerd, Groot technically is talking, but we can't understand him. :o

This is True only ROcket could understand what Groot says which this trailer clearly shows Justice Smith is the only person that can understand a talking Pikachu while everybody else hears him talk in his pika pika voice.

I think they really are going to see how this one goes and if it does gangbanners they might go all in on this Pokemon world.

That's the point. I wish he had gone with a different voice.
