Detective Pikachu

I think Pokemon beating the **** out of each other in a realistic setting may have weird implications.

I think people seem perfectly fine by it here. They explore training briefly here and no one seems triggered?

Cause as good as this trailer looks, this really isn't the Pokemon movie we want.

Well I think it will serve purpose as an introduction to the world staring a talking version of THE Pokémon mascot. From there I can see the kid wanting to actually become a Pokémon trainer again after he finds his dad and that will be the movie we’ve been really waiting for. Besides it looks like we’re still gonna get to explore the city and see Pokémon in the wild as well as in the town.

I think the Pokemon have to have agency for it to work. They choose to fight and it’s a mutual understanding between them and their trainers, rather than catching and basically forcing them to fight.

How I see it at least.

Kinda like a mutual coach/player relationship. Some Pokemon want to be the best too.

Reading YT comments. Why are people so surprised there's a live action Pokemon film?

I never thought this would see the light of day in all honestly, though it looks like it'll be a fun ride. I'm slightly sceptical of Ryan Reynolds voicing the Pikachu though; simply because all I'm hearing is Deadpool. Think it would have been slightly better if they got someone younger (maybe even a kid) to voice the Pokémon, but I'll reserve judgement until I see it.

I don't think there'd be too much of an issue with the Pokémon fighting either - so long as they're not forced into it or commanded (cause somehow that would end up as animal cruelty, even though it's not real and Pokémon don't really exist). With any luck we'll get a trilogy out of this, one in which we see some proper competition. Maybe the kid will decide to go after a badges with Pikachu and them take on the league?

This actually looks like fun. Ryan Reynolds sounds hilarious, the kid seems like he'll be fun, I really like the look/feel of the world here, there's several funny jokes just in the trailer, I like the tone that they seem to be going for, and while the Pokémon don't look "realistic" per se, the visual design of them is still working for me actually. It's probably as "realistic" as you can make them in a live action film without radically altering their designs.

Also PLEASE let Ken Watanabe play his cop role straight all the way through. Him talking about Pokémon like it's the most serious thing in the world was both awesome and hilarious at the same time.

:funny: Only just got around to seeing the trailer. As someone who hasn't given a **** about Pokemon since 1998 or something, this actually looks surprisingly fun. Who'da'thunkit?

I m a Fan since the GameBoy Game Red & Blue and i love the Trailer and i think its not a coincidence that The Trailer Drops in the Same as Pokemom Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee on Nintendo Switch?!

If anything Ryan Reynolds sold me on this entire project. I've been pretty much against it until I saw the shortlist for Pikachu. Then I realised what kind of movie this is and I loved it. I still want a main series movie but I can learn to enjoy this.

Also, I saw this article. Thought it was worth sharing.

Noice. That was maybe a decade ago when I first saw his stuff. Don't mind the plush toy designs they went with, but I still wanna see the Jurassic Pokemon vers.

I'm worried if my favorites - Slowpoke and Squirtle - are in this.

This looked fun. I haven't been interested in Pokemon in like 15 years but I'm definitely watching this. Realistic Pokemon look a bit odd but I'm happy that they are making this. I hope someone makes a live action Digimon movie at some point.

Is it wrong that I want all the Generation 1 Pokemon to be in the movie? All of them, from Bulbasaur to Mew.

I feel like whoever came up with this did all the acid, like ever!

I do think Pikachu is a bit too fury.
