i really really liked it man. i seriously thought doakes was going to live, and turned out to die in the first 10 min. i really liked how Lila decided to do that. i rememer someone bringing up Paris and i was like what? Paris? Now i understand and i loved how he was waiting for her. i wonder what season 3 is going to be about?

i cant even imagine man....i wanna see more lundy and his boss, but i doubt that. and i want more doakes but yeah...
i feel like deb hasta find out next season. but like i said i want more lundy....maybe have lundy confront dexter saying something like i wonder why doakes was getting the slides analyzed if they were his trophys...or maybe he found something of lilas at the crime scene and lundy finds it funny how shes disappeared....or maybe he brings up Brian the ITK...
Here's the real question, why would he even get an exact replica of his last slide box, and put it in the exact same hiding place?
All things considered, I thought the finale was great.
I should have known Lila would react the way she did to hearing that Dexter was the Butcher. A shame about Doakes, though. That explosion blew him in half!! i'll miss him, but he had to go at some point.
Dexter catching up with her in Paris was pretty cool, although you have to wonder how much legwork he must have had to do to find her, not to mention the fact that there's now a record of him having gone to Paris. I suppose Lila's "off-the-grid" enough that even if authorities in Paris ever do try to track down who killed her, they probably wouldn't look hard enough to discover a connection between her and Dexter. I have to say, that was one of his best kills. The way he numbed her body instead of tranquilizing her, and carrying her over to the couch, etc., all very romantic, despite being very sadistic. To a lesser extent, I liked that he wore a different "killer outfit".
OT: at the end of the opening credits, is that a "Dexter Brand" deadbolt lock on the front door of Dexter's apartment?
Last night's episode was a great finale to the season. They tied up all the loose ends very nicely. Sets the stage for them to really dig into a fresh set of story arcs for Season 3.
I thought the finale was fantastic. Good close to season 2. I'm going to miss Doakes. his dynamic with Dex was great. it'll be interesting to see where they take it in season 3.
Dexter had the bloodslides in his office right? I thought he could take them now that the case was over. I'm hoping Rita finds out next season, and if there's a season four, Deb finds out.
I really thought that the finale did the rest of this season justice, they didn't try to leave a whole bunch of unnecessary cliffhangers, it gave closure to the Lilah issue (I LOVED it that he killed her, I was hoping that'd happen for mooonths now) and the Doakes problem. I loved Doakes and I wish there had been a way to keep him around but once he knew, the only way for Dex to still do what he does, was to kill Doakes off, sadly.
The little opening credits clip was a nice little thing for them to throw in there. Heh.

i wanna stay away from the ritas kids storyline....cuz in the books there was always hints of them being like dexter...in the show i havent seen any real hints...
plus show-wise, i think teaching little kids that stuff would lose dexter likeable points.
in response to Omid.... id like maria to find out too. realize doakes is innocent...
Maria already knows Doakes is innocent. At the end of Season 3, to leave an end open for season 4, they need to re-open the Bay Harbor Butcher case. Definitely.
Maria is going to find Dex out. Consumed just as Doakes was, she will lose her job and become someone trying to out-wit Dex at every move. But she will kill someone in the process, giving Dex the excuse to off her in the finale.
Also, I can't wait to see how Dex re-invents himself throughout the season.
Though, I do think it would be great killing off Rita sometime in the series, after he realizes he feels "love" would be great, especially if Cody witnesses it all. Uh-oh, someone to pass the code onto...the right way.
I kinda want Dex to have a new enemy, but not someone who loves him, but someone who is terrorizing him. Like, a brother of Lila who was searching for her the same way Brian searched for Dex, except
Dex took it all away from him the moment he off'd Lila in Paris.
Then he kills Rita in Season 3 at the end, or Season 4 or whatever and before she dies, he makes Dexter tell her the truth, while Cody sneaks around and sees it all.
I just think someone needs to scare Dexter, needs to out-kill and torture his life. And somehow he will come out of it, but this time, unlike others, severely scarred with many loose ends to tie up. Thats how Season 3, or whatever season should function, especially with LaGuerta in Doakes-mode, etc. Though that might be a bit much for one season, anything can fall anywhere.
i dont want rita dead. period. dex needs her.... if theres a big death next season which i doubt bc of doakes his season, it should be matthews. i want dex to find out matthews is responsible for harrys death and cut his ass up. that would be an awesome scene with crazy dialogue.
i agree...in season 3 i want there to be a new killer that actually disturbs dexter instead of impress him (ice truck killer)...
ive read all 3 books. 1 and 2 are great, but 3 kinda sucked.
So, its settled, me and hobgob are going to write season 3. Crazy, scary killer, Matthews responsible for Harry's death, crazy ex-cop LaGuerta dies at end. No death of Rita. Alrighty! Its on.
