DC COMICS

BATMAN AND ROBIN #1 $2.99

MARVEL COMICS

NEW MUTANTS #2 $2.99

Wow, 2 books and I'm not even sure on Batman & Robin. If Grayson is Batman than I'll pick it up. If not, then only 1 book this week.

CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI13 ANNUAL #1 $3.99
DARK AVENGERS #5 DKR $3.99
MIGHTY AVENGERS #25 DKR $2.99
NEW MUTANTS #2 $2.99
WAR OF KINGS #4 (OF 6) $3.99

Maybe
SKAAR #11 $2.99
BATMAN AND ROBIN #1 $2.99

Okay, decent week. As for the maybe's, I'm not sure on Skaar yet. I picked up the Silver Surfer arc for SS and really enjoyed it, but then they go and throw him on Earth, which takes away the feeling that I liked. I skimmed the Planet Skaar Prologue and it did nothing for me so I didn't buy it. Chances are I'll skip this one too, but I want to skim it first and see if anything jumps out at me. As for Batman & Robin I'm debating on starting Batman and it's a good jump on point. I read Final Crisis and Battle for the Cowl so I'm up to date, I'm just not sure if I want to yet. I'll probably decide the moment I walk to the comics counter. Chances are, I'll buy it.

Dark Avengers and War of Kings has me excited as always, though I still hate the $4 price tag on Dark. So far it's the only ongoing book I that's worth it for me. I really like Deadato's art and Bendis isn't horrible, so it's decent. Much better than New, which I may drop following this Sorceror Supreme arc, haven't decided. It's decent for $3, but not for $4. But War of Kings has been phenominal and I can't wait for the next issue, especially since the Guardians of the Galaxy have officially entered the fray. Now I'm just waiting for the Novas to officially jump in.

New Mutants isn't as interesting to me as to a lot of old school fans but it's decent. I'm more interested in Legion, and Warlock joining up later, than the actual team. I do like Cannonball and Sunspot but the first issue just didn't do much for me. As a huge X-Fan I'm hoping it grows on me because I'm not buying blindly anymore and I will drop the book if it doesn't hook me soon, probably by the end of the 2nd storyline. Cap. Britain & MI:13 Annual could be decent but I'm not a huge Megan fan and I didn't much care for the arc she was focused on. This just finishing that arc's dangling plotthread, which is good and I'll get it for that reason, but this is probably the issue I'm looking forward to the least.

And lastly, Mighty Avengers. I was against this for the first 3 issues and planned on dropping it after that. It just did nothing for me. Then the next issue caught my eye on a slow week so I gave it a shot and ended up liking it better than the first 3 combined, so I'm taking it issue by issue. I hope this one's more like the 4th issue in on Slott's run. We'll see.

I've liked Dan Slott's run on MIGHTY AVENGERS so far since the start. But, to be a little more objective, once he got rid of guest stars Hulk and Iron Man and focused on his core cast and agenda for the team in issue #24, it was better. Revamping an Avengers roster always takes a little spectacle I guess, and that is how I saw issues #21-23. Issue #24 was getting to some real meat and I enjoyed that a bit more than the others. So I guess I can relate. Sort of.

I think for me... I'm just not an old school Avenger fan, so that feel does nothing for me. I don't care a lick about Jacosta or US Agent and Pym's never really been all that interesting for me. Then you go and make the main villain of the first arc a villain I've never heard of and you don't make me care about him at all in those 3 issues and I just have little to cling to. All I have is Stature and Cho really and that's not really much to go on, so by the end of 23 I was bored to tears.

However, somehow in issue 24 he got me to like the majority of the team, he utilized the Young Avengers briefly (something I'm a huge fan of), and made Pym's team relevant and interesting. He even got me to like Pym a little more, and then he added Quicksilver to the team, who I like, and my interest is perked. I'm not huge on the Loki thing since I don't really care about Thor's book but I'm willing to see where it's going.

I'm assuming there is another Transformers Movie Adaptation in there as well.

I'm surprised, I thought the new Batman series would be getting more love.

I'd just like to say that I love how Hank Pym's Avengers are sometimes called "the real Avengers."

Yeah, it's awesome. Loki/Wanda even said it to Pete Wisdom in the last Captain Britain and MI-13 issue. :)

Okay Corp... what is up to your bowling ball birthing dog/bunny thing? It confuses me to no end.

It's a clock, not a bowling ball. He's a Watch Dog. I just couldn't get it small enough for the Hype without losing half the colors. :csad:

I see now... but I like it better as a bowling ball... makes less sense that way :)

It is quite awesome, and logical. It has more "actual" old time Avengers members (including a founder) and they handle global threats, rather than fighting ninja in hotels somewhere.

And the Avengers aren't supposed to be exclusive to the United States or outlaws. Hank Pym was the only man with enough sense to find a way to run an Avengers team that doesn't take orders from HAMMER/SHIELD or force the entire team to hide underground.

To be fair, GRAMPA is Dan Slott's exclusive international paranormal combat organization he created in AMAZING FANTASY, so Pym did have a bit of an inside track. That said, it was a solid idea that no one else had come up with. The NEW AVENGERS are more "street" though and operate in New York mostly.

The New Avengers should be rename themselves Heroes For Hire or something. They're the least Avengers-like team around, even compared to the Dark Avengers.

They should be named BENDIS' MONEY TRAIN. :)

Phantom Tollbooth, right?
Yep. One of my favorite movies as a kid.

Yeah, Pym's a genius that way. Eat s*** and die, Iron Man. :o
