The Dark Knight Did this small scene annoy anyone else?

I didnt like the, "You see those bad guys on the floor above you? There waiting to ambush the SWAT team on the elevator."

That line is right out of a video game.

The whole sonar vision was right out of a video game. But maybe that's the way "sonar" is supposed to look like. You can tell I'm ignorant.

Things that bugged me:

1. The editing during the Batpod driving through the shopping center sequence. It's so chopped up. In one shot he's racing right up to the glass door, the shot immediately following that is him racing through the shopping center, then we immediately cut to him crashing through the doors, then he's back in the shopping center and the very next shot shows him 50 yards outside the shopping center. It was very poorly edited.

2. The fact that Bruce jumps out of his penthouse and has a chat with Rachel while the Joker and his men are upstairs with a room full of innocent people. That whole situation was not resolved at all. All they had to do was have one of the henchmen say something like, "We better get outta here before he comes back." Otherwise the Joker would have torn the place apart and found Harvey in the closet. Instead the scene just ends right there, and the next thing you know, Harvey's rushing into the police station.

Even so, I love the movie. Seen it 3 times and plan on seeing it some more.

we already have a thread about whining about tdk...

They should have followed up the panic room part with a Gotham Times headline saying "Joker Invades Party, Billionare Coward Flees Scene"

There's nothing in this movie the level of stupidity of "Nice coat", "Hey man, nice ride!" or the kid being thrown Batman's night-vision thingie. Also no hammed-up villain lines à la "Excuse me, I have a city to destroy"... So I'm happy! A distinct improvement over (I assume) David Goyer's rather cheesy sense of humour.

and also that idiot SWAT guy saying the same line twice... who was in the front with Gordon .... 'oh that's NOT good' at all ...

From getting in the SWAT car in GCPD to the final shot of him talking, we get the hint that the guy is pretty nervous and that it's pobably due to him being relatively new. I think they were just being consistent with that particular guy.

Examples:

"I hope you know some moves, pal."

Shot of him looking at the flaming fire truck ( :hehe: )

"What is that - a bazooka?!"

Not to mention losing his cool when he otherwise wouldn't (he's SWAT, after all). It would seem that Gordon's really trying to pull in people to fill the positions necessary to keep things in control.

Side note: doesn't he look a lot like Berg?

what is that girls name in real life? i looked on imdb but maybe i missed it, shes fine as hell, i wish i was that old dude, lol

I believe her name is Jennifer Knox. Looked her up on the IMDB page, and she's just listed as Girl #1 or something like that.

Good God, I have too much time on my hands.:whatever:

you know what threw me off? seeing a guy in a bat costume in a crime drama. i literally keep forgetting its a batman movie.

Hmmm, interesting point. I didn't even think about that, but you're right. I don't believe there was any resolution as to what exactly happened to the Joker and his thugs at the party. I suppose they just packed up and left? Or maybe they killed everyone while Batman and Rachel hung out on top of the busted vehicle. lol :p

panic room scene works because it makes bruce look like a spoilt rich dude who doesn't care for anyone else.

my only problem with it in a similar way to the spiderman bank scene is you don't get a reaction afterwards of bruce sneaking back out of there and rejoining the party after missing batman save the day.

At least then if bruce way revealed at being batman, he'd have dozens of witnesses that saw him being a ***** at the party and not being brave enough to do anything.

in all the years of this genre, superman films are the only ones to have done this properly, it's unbelievable when you think about it.

I loved the movie. 10/10. The Joker was incredible and the movie was a masterpiece.

But there was one small thing that kind of irritated me during one of the main scenes.

During the scene where the Joker crashes the party and Bruce sneaks off to get suited up. When Bruce reaches that one room where the man and woman are and he opens up that secret door. I didn't mind the fact that they said 'Oh great, you have a panic room.' But after Bruce enters and shuts the door, the part where the woman goes 'You've gotta be kidding me.. heh.' felt really hammed.

Completely unnecessary I thought. A simple confused expression would have sufficed. Her bad acting kind of threw me off for a second before we got back to the good stuff :/

Am I insane?

I agree that the scene was a little lame stab at humour. I suppose they threw that in to ease the tension but me, personally, I could do without it. As much as I love both "Begins" and "TDK" they do tend tend to have a few moments like that. I tiny bit cringeworthy. Perhaps it's the bad actors that they have deliever the lines.

No humour? Cry, whine, tears.

Can't we enjoy a movie anymore? more than 600 people already gave it a 10 here, so it MUST be good.

Something that bothered me at the time, and the more I think about it seems strange is:

what the hell happened up at the party after Batman took a dive out the window? Joker WAS there looking for Dent. And he had a whole room of frightened audience and he's probably mad as hell Batman saved Rachel and got away, so are you telling me he simply walked quietly back into the elevator? He didn't trash the place looking for Dent, didn't look for Bruce Wayne, didn't torture that old guy. What was Alfred doing? He talks alot about evil men like he knows them from experience but I would've liked to see him shi*t his pants when faced with the Joker. This isn't just a minor plot hole. It's hanging question while you're watching the movie and it seems a wasted opportunity upon later reflection.

To help me understand this can anyone tell me what scene follows directly after Batman and Rachel land on the car? To help me remember the pacing of it.

Yes, I'm sorry to say you are:)... That is something I would've never thought about.

I like writing myself, but I've never understood why a dark movie has to be made lighter, using this so-called 'humor'. I didn't think the panic room scene was funny and I didn't think the kids playing the shooting game was funny. It only distracted me.

'The jokes are used to let the audience breathe in the middle of all the action'.

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WANT THAT?!

I never understood this. Why oh why? You sure don't want to audience on the edge of their seats, right?

Still, I think Nolan does it better than anybody else. I just was a little bit disappointed with the Hollywood wisecracks throughout. Especially in the beginning of the film, there were a few lighter moments that pulled me out of the movie. I got back in when the Joker appears again.

The biggest nitpick I had with the movie was when the batpod did a flip on the wall

^ The more times I see it, the more I love it!... It didn't look tacky, nor fake... but the fact that it happened within this Nolan Batman universe it took some getting use to. it looks so cool!

One Question: Whats an Old Hag doing with someone like her?

Whining about the whining. Beautiful!

Yes. And I'm sure most of the other people here think the same about it.
