The Dark Knight Did this small scene annoy anyone else?

i thought the only scene that was unnecessary was those two stupid kids pretending to shoot guns in the back of that car ...

Ditto.

But otherwise Dark Knight was excellent. I already saw it three times.

Might see it a fourth. :woot:

I LOVE that magic act.

So did the theater, everytime i went to see it.

Actually the script describes as Joker making a getaway.

Here's what the script has:

INT. TAXI -- CONTINUOUS

The DRIVER SCREAMS as Batman and Rachel hit the roof-roll down the windshield-onto the pavement. Alive.

INT. CAR -- CONTINUOUS

The Joker looks back as his car SPEEDS away. He's breathing hard, EXHILARATED. He touches the blood running down his sweaty white makeup. SMACKS the back of the driver's seat-

THE JOKER
I'm a man of my word.

thanks. I don't see why they didnt keep that scene. It would have been good to see the Joker actually talking to his own goons, we never saw that. And still I would've liked to know what Joker did to the people at the party before he left.

Another thing that annoyed me. Joker had ALOT of contacts and networks for the crazy loner that he is. He had guys in the court (the judges card). In Loebs office. In the ferry service (two entire engine rooms filled with bombs! no one noticed?) Guys in television transmission, guys in the hospital. And we never saw any of this at all. In fact all we saw is that Joker employs escaped lunatics, and makes even less sense. It added a bit of a cartoonish quality to the Joker, that he can just kind of do anything he wants.

I wish they didn't delete ANY scenes.

I would have gladly sat there for 8 hours. haha.

I agree with the topic post, it felt a bit unnecessary and pointless and the way she delivered it was awful.

i disagree completely with the topic creator. what bad acting? she delivered the line fine. i thought the scene was just fine.

thanks bro, lol

Jennifer Knox? maybe she is Knox's wife he would be older now it makes sense... Nolan is smart and of course wouldnt cast a young Knox... I dont know why they just didnt use Robert Wuhl....

hmmmm

I believe her name is Jennifer Knox. Looked her up on the IMDB page, and she's just listed as Girl #1 or something like that.

Good God, I have too much time on my hands.:whatever:

this is what I meant to quote

one part that bugged me just a bit was the looks on the faces of gothams citizens when Harvey was making his speech on Batman turning himself in...... they just looked dumb but I guess Gothams citizens are kindof idiots

Her name is Jennifer Knox in REAL life. I sincerely hope your post was some sick joke.

SO....I saw the movie again tonight. And...That SWAT guy? he was WORSE than before. Maybe because this time I decided to pay special attention to him. From the moment he gets on the van he becomes a headache. I was like... "Seriously? Did he just say that?" Every time they cut back to him I just wanted to perform the Magic Trick on him **Moves hand gracefully** :whatever:

That actually got some of the bigger laughs when I've seen this movie.

"That's NOT good!" was the weakest part in an almost flawless film. The entire chase sequence was just so...droll, especially with no backdrop music. It was also the sequence that was most "Goyer" especially with the kids (I have no problem with them, but it was unneccesary) and the stupid SWAT driver. Comic relief can be done better, ala Freeman. He got some sincere laughs.

The chase sequence seemed so promising especially with Joker's static theme playing during that quiet bird's eye view and then it just drifted off into popcorn territory.

I thought the chase sequence was great. But for me The Joker going from a small machine gun, to a shotgun, to a bazooka/RPG was enough humor.

THE JOKER
I'm a man of my word.

That would make so much sense, why it's not in is baffling. I can't remember being so jarred in a cinema than after this scene when the Joker is simply left up in the penthouse by Batman.

"Give me the Russian for 'apply your own bloody suntan lotion' "

if anything, that was the only line of dialogue in the whole movie that bugged the crap out of me, because I couldn't understand what he was saying on multiple viewings.
I think I much preferred the commercial with Bruce asking "Are you gonna be alright Alfred?" and Alfred turns to the women and says "Oh I think so" or something.
I just thought that was just a better line for him :hehe:

..and also that idiot SWAT guy saying the same line twice... who was in the front with Gordon .... 'oh that's NOT good' at all ... didn't need to say it twice moron .. we got it the first time .. and a few spots where the editing was piss-poor.. otherwise.. this movie was a masterpiece

*sarcasm* Oh, I'm pretty sure that you'd be totally in control if you were riding shotgun with a deranged, grease painted clown firing a rocket launcher right at you from a Mac Truck a few feet away. *sarcasm* :whatever:

The only part that was really jarringly dumb was "Have a nice trip, see you next fall!"

Yea, I definitely agree with that. It didn't even make sense in context. If it was even just "have a nice trip" I would've been fine with it. I think that was the ONLY part that bothered me.

I don't seem to recall hearing that line in the movie. Where does it take place and whom says it?

Could someone, who remembers the scene well where Batman saves Rachel from falling, tell me how did they survive the fall? Did Batman fire a line to slow the rate of falling or was his suit strong enough to take it? They fell pretty hard on the car.

I loved the movie. 10/10. The Joker was incredible and the movie was a masterpiece.

But there was one small thing that kind of irritated me during one of the main scenes.

During the scene where the Joker crashes the party and Bruce sneaks off to get suited up. When Bruce reaches that one room where the man and woman are and he opens up that secret door. I didn't mind the fact that they said 'Oh great, you have a panic room.' But after Bruce enters and shuts the door, the part where the woman goes 'You've gotta be kidding me.. heh.' felt really hammed.

Completely unnecessary I thought. A simple confused expression would have sufficed. Her bad acting kind of threw me off for a second before we got back to the good stuff :/

Am I insane?

It was fine. Better if they just left in "Oh great, you have a panic room", and took out her other line.
