"Their work on Children of Men is amongst the greatest FX work ever completed."

Uhh... no. The CGI in Children of Men was awful. If they are indeed doing some kind of visual effects for Two-Face, then god help us all.
Um.. what? Did you see Children of Men? That baby scene was so realistic looking that I didn't even question if it was CGI or not. Turns out, it was CGI.

I have to agree with you there. Pretty stunning stuff....

Thats it call ILM, tell pixar we need the whole staff on this one, and no breaks, for every break they take, we shoot them, with REAL bullets too.

I saw that movie twice, and until this moment, I had no idea that scene was CGI... thats amazing.

Add me to the list of those who didn't know the baby was cgi.

are you serious, spiderB?

you may not be impressed by the cgi work on 'children of men' but man, it's far from 'awful'. not like 'sony imageworks' awful. yes, i said it.

Sony Imageworks exsists??? Man, I thought they were a joke...

here's my beef with sony imageworks. I think they kinda suck. I mean, their work on the spider-man movies were just okay, but there was never a huge evolution with the cgi. though i admit that the Sandman 'monster' mode at the end of "Spider-Man 3" was good. However, Venom looked fake so that takes away a point.

Other projects like their work on Superman Returns was...okay. Their work on Mr. Beaver on Narnia was...okay.

Look at ILM as of late. They've been very consistent as of late. Transformers, Pirates, etc. A far leap from Van Helsing and The Mummy, I must say.

so how can you make an absolute statement in this case? you don't know one way or the other. i don't understand why you are so adamant about this. what difference does it make as long as the final product looks good?

It's the Batman Begins special features. Nolan says he prefers to use real people when he can. Thus why in the monorail scene, all the Batman stuff is 100% real.

The bats they tried to use but where unable to control.

Nolan said himself that he hates to rely on it - not that he hates using it.

Lots of people are like "blow up that train station....oh....lets do it in post. It'll be cheaper and look the same." when most times...it doesn't. My mom and dad don't ever notice, but myself and my friends can pick up on it very easily.

If they can do it, Nolan does it. If he can't, he'll go to CGI. Thats the smartest approach IMO and the least lazy way.

Besides......

If any company were to do CGI Villains.....we all know who would be doing it. lol

ILM is always top notch. Their work on Pirates and Transformers is excellent.

Minus the raptors at the end - most of the Dino's in Jurassic Park looked real as hell. I know a fair amount of them were animatronics, but like the "must go faster" scene with the T-rex chasing them....

BEST CGI EVER.

Pan's Labyrinth's CGI was well done, with Pan and the other creatures. Del Toro used the CGI effectively and it was convincing. That's HOW you should use CGI!

With Dent, I can see why Nolan will have to rely on CGI. The eyes and the mouth with prosthetics can only do so much.

Nolan has a lot of class. I respect him alot for his stance on CGI use. Especially with the film industry the way it is today. Like 300, what a piece of ****....

And that stuff still holds up today pretty damn well.

300, a piece of s***? I disagree.

However, you don't need to like it, but it's one of those movies where it's shallow and it's proud of it. either you hate it or love it, i suppose.

I went to see it with a bunch of fellow film majors and we all almost stabbed ourselves to death during it. It is incredibly obnoxious, nothing but eye candy... and the dialogue, well, I won't even go there. I do enjoy a good shallow film now and then (yes, I do actually enjoy Michael Bay's stuff, except for Bad Boys II, and he is a pretty shallow director) but not 300.

I remember wondering how the hell they pulled off that shot. I don't even remember why, but it was probably done all in one take, and was confused how the hell a baby came out of nowhere. Unless it was a real pregnancy, lol. Now I know.

But to each his own.

rory, you responded to my comment.......twice. strange..

Interesting, i hope they keep his look out of the trailers.
