I don't see why Robin Hood needs a badass rough actor, and even if he does, they failed with casting Crowe; not only the fact that he was on the older side, but because he's gotten blubbery and was too lazy to get back into a good physique.but characters like Robin Hood should be played by badass rough actors. like Crowe. he looks like a real man. Bale looks like a real man. Rockwell looks like a real man.

What heck is a "real man"?
Not only this, but the fact that the new Robin Hood was an origin story, and Crowe is, and looks, like a 40+ old actor.I don't see why Robin Hood needs a badass rough actor, and even if he does, they failed with casting Crowe; not only the fact that he was on the older side, but because he's gotten blubbery and was too lazy to get back into a good physique.
I actually was gonna add that and totally forgot. Not only this, but the fact that the new Robin Hood was an origin story, and Crowe is, and looks, like a 40+ old actor.
lolz thats probably itI think they're the ones he thinks about at night. In the dark. With tissues at his bedside. You know, in case he sneezes.
i agree matrix-ghost.
Jones was obvious talking about young actors playing old mature character.
of course Sam Witvicky should be played by someone like Shia. of course Spiderman should be played by a young actor.

You know what I don't get?
The fact that most people can't make solid statements and stand behind them anymore. Today it seems like everyone is so concerned with being PC and not making anyone angry that they'll never make a 100% claim one way or the other.
Jones does...but he's getting taken over the coals for it?
...
Grow a spine and state what you believe. If it's what you think, it's what you think. If it makes you unpopular...so be it, you're being true to your feelings on the matter.
Harrison Ford was 39 years old when he played Indiana Jones for the first time. 39! Leading men need to look like they have LIVED.
Fed up of leading men in their early 20s. Its ridiculous. they look like kids "acting" grown up. Rant over.
I agree, which is why I feel comfortable expressing my disagreement with this statement:
Who is he talking about? He's not talking about Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhall. (30). He's talking about Twilight kids, basically. He saying that people who look young should act young.
This is the polar opposite of my particular beef with hollywood, and perhaps a result of it, that teenagers should be played by teenagers, and not by people in their mid-to-late 20s. It creates this idea that an 23 year old man looks like a teenager, and that's more than a bit ridiculous.
It is true that there is not an appreciation of older male stories, alas.
why are you talking abut those young characters from movies?Just like I said, Black and White. Russell Crowe SUCKED as Robin Hood. And part of that was because he was too damn old to play the part. Was this Robin Hood : The Retirement Years?
Let's cast James Gandolfini for Scott Pilgrim and Denzel Washington for Kick-Ass next! Or how about they fire Andrew Garfield and replace him with Tom Cruise instead! Daniel Day Lewis for Tin Tin!
It's called MISS-CAST and I don't give a rats how old the actor is, if that's how they're portrayed in the script/story and they can act - because the truth is there are great actors of all ages out there, sorry to burst your bubble - then they have every right to be getting leading roles as the next guy.
Your definition of a "real man" is quite confusing. A bloated gut and wrinkles don't make someone a "real man". At all.![]()
see my main problem is just the opposite, I understand the limitations of a pool of talented young actors and child working laws blah blah blah, but I really hate it when 25 year olds play high schoolers. Drives me insane.
I agree san15
Anne Hathaway
Keira Knightley (maybe)
Katherine Heigl
Scarlett Johannson
None of these women have headlined a successful movie on their own. They're mostly paired with other actors.
Can anyone name half a dozen bankable leading ladies now in their 30s and 40s?
No-one really headlines a successful movie by themselves. RDJ for example had Gwyneth in Iron Man and Rachel McAdams and Jude Law in Sherlock by that doesn't make him any less of a bankable star.
Sure, there's ...
Meryl Streep
Queen Latifah
Uma Thurman
Cate Blanchett
Penelope Cruz
Helena Bonham Carter
Renee Zelwegger
Nicole Kidman (arguable because her last couple of films bombed but I'll add her anyway)
Really? What about Will Smith I Am Legend or Tom Hanks Cast Away
