I personally don't subscribe to science. It can only get you so far in life. After college, what good will theories from a man who had a bad day do for you?

I did not come from monkeys. I don't throw my turds at others, or in the case of the male bonobo monkeys, praticing fencing with my penis.:wow:

edit...I offer my sincerest appologies for that post. My buddy thought he'd be funny and start posting on here using my account...dumbass.

haha.. for some reason this made me laugh

Hakwings book describes how the big bang was caused :)

But thats not enough proof for anybody who believes in god. They need to see it set in stone and preached by a guy who looks like a hippy. Religion has made people stupid.

It's funny how it's considered stupid to believe in religious faith about a omnicient being because it's quoted by the fallable 'man'. And yet much more logical to put your faith in the all infallable science, also quoted by the all infallable 'man'.

Religion isn't totally to blame for that. Plenty of stupid athesist and agnostics and just plain amoral people in the world too.
Oh come now Raybia, you know that the religious nuts are the ONLY ones ruining this world.:whatever:

Thats true, but I would say that half of the amoral people are religious. Humans are naturally amorally. Its too hard to do the right thing all the time.

Science is less infallable than religion. Religion is a glorified fairy tales mixed with some or partial history. To actually be logical, one would have to see that anything that tells that a guy got two of each animal and built a huge boat, is exaggerating a bit too much.

Science, also WELL after the time period of your example, thought said world WAS FLAT!

And please try to remember, Scientific FACT is only FACT as long as it is can't be dis-proven. That's just as big as any DISCLAIMER religion has.

Science has no facts. Only observable results at this moment with the understanding we have. They have for 50 years been working on the big bang "Theory" but only now are wondering if the speed of light is actually constant.

Whoops. e might not = MC2 ....

Not religion but the interpretation that the religious leaders, teachers, scholars and institutions give the masses are mostly fairy tales. Yes, this is the big problem in religion.

But there is a small but growing group that has broken free of this. They will change everything...in time.

Science it was flat until someone went across the sea and proved a new sciencific fact that it was round. It was religion who said science was wrong until it proved so much. People experiment on old facts and form new facts.

Actually if you read the whole text, he built the Ark with his whole family for several years, while God sent the animals to him.

Carbon date that ...:woot:

PREACH IT!

As I stated ... a theory can change. Can a fact?

Does Gravity cause the apple to fall? Is that a fact or a theory? Or is it the grand unified force*

*not yet confirmed but would be really convenient as it would tie up all those nagging loose ends like the change in the size / speed of the universe expanding/collapsing and why gravity causes dips in space/time and why we still can't explain how a bee flies ...

So how does that make it LESS fallable? Just sounds like it has to keep changing it's story to me.

... where I'm from we call that a tell-tell sign of a liar!

It corrects the previous facts not changes the story. And gravity is fact.

Ancient civilizations knew the cirumference of the earth exactly long before we did ... and we had to go into space to figure it out.

Is it possible that our "science" is not so accurate? or as flawless as we are led to believe?

Cue the lads who want to debate why the monkey has no kneecap but a whale has odd legbits left over ... :ghost:

Is it?

What is it then? What causes it? Is it a force or an effect? and why is it not constant?

Scientists cannot reliably explain what causes it only calculate the resultant speed of an object falling and deduce that a force at an earth constant (at sea level) causes the effect of Gravity.

but what is Gravity?

Spainards figure out the world was round. Galieo knew the world revolved around the sun. Science can be flawed but its a process of constantly seeing how things work. Anicent civilizations were really smart. Religion is nonsecense set in stone that can't be question. Science can improve itself.

Again, how is that LESS fallable?

Facts shouldn't need changing.

Gravity is only a THEORY until 75 years from now when they discover it is actually the magnetic fields in conjunction with our spinning core that keeps us from flying off this rock. And that gravity is simple a by-product of the two that ONLY holds our atmosphere in place.

Thank You for undoing your initial statement about Science being LESS fallable.

.. And I see by your last statement that what you really meant to say was, that Science gives you more reason to have "faith" in it.

Facts change over time periods. Facts from 50 to 100 years ago need to be check if they are still valid. Doesn't make them less valid just needs to be looked like one would do in experiement. Gravity always been a fact because it common sense.

Caliber ... I question someone who follows something that has to be corrected constantly when faced with "facts" that disprove it's assumptions or statements. In that case things are theories or theorems not facts. They are "information we have at the moment until proven otherwise to be wrong."

Your statement is to provide 'evidence' for why you like science, but it actually helps the cause of the "religious" who have information that does not change and was proven correct ... and continues to be.

While science has made many claims about various events and timelines, other information from sources such as religious writings from Christian, Jewish and Muslim sources, as well as Chinese Buddhist writings of histortical information have been shown to be correct.

The ancient civilizations I noted were to show you that they had faith based knowledge, as opposed to science, and accomplished things we still cannot today.
